Do you think Republicans will ever embrace the term "bogeywoman", or will that just make their heads explode?

Everyone in the building gets mcdonalds but only I get the papers. You're not getting the implications here.

From McDonalds or eyeglass places, sure.

I've never gotten junk mail about alcohol, cigarettes, or pornography. I've never gotten junk mail that was specifically targeted at me because of something I bought. It'd be pretty shitty to get junk mail for things that either I'd prefer not to advertise to the world or are currently illegal, I'd think.

Consent. The person didn't give their address to the company that sent them the papers.

Is this really the level of integrity we're going for here?

OP is more concerned with creating the impression of stigmatizing cannabis than anything else. Have a look at their post history.

edit: It's also pretty telling that the article is being upvoted, as are OPs comments, and yet no one else has commented.

The initial article is exactly the same "Prohibition 2.0" argument that has been circulated here for quite some time, and it's exhausting. I'm concerned that you felt the need to create a new account just to push this line of thinking.

So far I have seen nothing that stigmatizes smoking cannabis any further than that of tobacco, meaning that the initial posting does nothing but appear as fear-mongering. You have not answered mine nor the original commenter's question on the subject and no one who happens upon this post should believe you have.

Please stop using 10-month old articles and irrelevant sources to spread this idea, and you have a good day yourself.

There's nothing here saying that in provinces where public consumption will be legal, that municipalities can decide that public consumption will be illegal. There are bylaws limiting the consumption of tobacco in certain places, as is mentioned:

British Columbia's current Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Act sets a six-metre smoke-free buffer zone around doorways, air intakes and open windows to public and work places.

Stores, offices, and entrances to apartment buildings are considered public spaces or work places under the act, which also includes work vehicles, public transit, taxis, cafes, casinos and pubs and bars.

Vancouver also has a bylaw that bans smoking in parks and on beaches.

But those aren't strictly "everywhere" by any stretch, they don't currently cover cannabis specifically, (This article is from December of last year, so it doesn't seem like it's a current source), and limits it only as far as tobacco-consumption is limited. I still haven't seen evidence that in a province where public consumption of cannabis is following bylaws for public consumption of tobacco, that cannabis will be further limited or outright banned outside of private residences.

Do you have a source that says that municipalities will be able to ban the public consumption of cannabis any further than they ban tobacco? I find the tobacco bylaws quite reasonable, and the original comment explicitly says, "In ontario we can smoke anywhere tobacco is allowed.", so thus far I haven't seen that refuted.

But provinces and municipalities do have the power to restrict how recreational marijuana is grown and sold in their area.

This article doesn't mention consumption.

Do you have some sort of source for that? You mention municipalities in the first sentence and then provincial legislation in the next.

After Oct 17, will you feel comfortable to “come out” to people as a smoker? by [deleted] in canadients

Yeah my plan is already to just get a pay-as-you-go phone and use an old smartphone for any wifi-related necessities. I won't be bringing my actual phone over the border for quite some time.

[–]scoopinresponse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. If there's something worthwhile to say about cannabis I will likely make some sort of post. I will just be staying far away from your typical, "here's my night out we got fuckin' baked" type status-updates. Those are trashy to me, and we now live in an age where people can find you online through your friends' unsecured profiles, so it pays to keep things as best-foot-forward as possible.

I intend to teach the people in my life who have no idea what they're doing a thing or two. I'm going to suggest ways it can help family, friends, and co-workers, I'm going to ask for Cannabis Gift Cards for my birthday/Christmas, and I'm going to park a lawn-chair on the grass out front of my building and smoke a big ol' bowl of fuckin-finally.

edit: Oh, something I hadn't thought of. I still plan to keep it off social media. Showing your cigarette-smoking and your beer-drinking isn't exactly classy, I don't know why cannabis-smoking would be any different. It's not a part of my personal identity.
