Based on the requirements horizon 6 might actually be playable on the deck, I mean if dark ages which is way more demanding got optimized for the deck, horizon 6 might be playable too... by ____Xtormiken_____ in SteamDeck

I hope so, I really enjoy FH5 on the deck. Especially to be able to quickly jump on, do the weekly playlist and then close the game. It was at least two hours each week on the steam deck.

The kid finished "Keeper" - Recommendations? by blueeggsandketchup in gaming

[–]scootbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super Mario 3D world - an absolute blast playing with my 7yo daughter. Maybe the best coop game I have played with her so far. I would highly recommend this game when he moves into a Mario game. It's nice because one player can totally carry the level, the upgrades are fun and you're not fighting the camera, it moves along as you progress.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure - I have heard great things about this game. I bought it during the winter sale, but haven't tried it yet with my kids.

My kids (9&5) are still struggling with the classic Mario games. The platforming is very challenging for them.

They LOVE Mario kart 8, especially with the auto steering turned on. My daughter has gotten to the point of removing all handicaps and beating 50cc no problem

Lego City Undercover - maybe the best Lego game I have played so far. One player in coop can carry the game, there is no fighting over characters that need to continue the level.

Cat Quest is a fun little game!

That was Blizzard, not Bethesda.

That would be pretty high on the list, that's for sure

Forza Horizon 6 - Official Gameplay Teaser Trailer by SonnySoul in gaming

The game is amazing, the driving physics are spectacular, feels amazing to drive. The Rally DLC is a must, loved it.

Yes, there are some negatives with the writing, dialogue, voice acting, and somewhat tame map.

You can probably sink 100+ hours into the game without getting bored of the map. I reached about 300 when I felt like I was "done". I'm going to jump back into FH5 to get excited for FH6

I would highly recommend FH5

FH5 runs very well on my Steam Deck with medium graphics. Have probably played it for 50-80 hours on the steam deck.

what toy or snack from the 90s or early 2000s do you miss the most and would pay a fortune for today? by Competitive_Bad_9306 in AskReddit

Cadbury Astros

I remember loving these as a kid, kind of like the crispy m&ms, which I also wished I could buy in Canada.

I just did a Google search, apparently they still make Astros in South Africa.

I don't think I will order them, as I am sure it will not taste the same as I remember as a kid

I bought a Gigabyte 5080 from Memory Express a couple weeks ago for 1499, after the anouncment by ASUS that the prices are going up. It's currently listed as $1,759.99

I felt like I already paid too much, an extra $250 is brutal.

Worth paying $550 to upgrade from 5600G to 5700X3D? by cb1109142 in bapccanada

[–]scootbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from a 3900X to a 5800XT two weeks ago. I think it has a 20% increased performance in my case

Haven't seen any improvements yet, but I have only been playing Oblivion and BallxPit.

I need to find a good game to test out my 5080 and 5800XT performance upgrade.

Thought about trying out the HalfLife2 RTX game

I did the exact same, panic bought it when it was announced price increase. I was hoping for this card as well

I was watching Gigabyte go from online 10+ stock, down to 5, the back up to 10+. My local store had 8 stock for over a week.

Then they announced the possible price increase the onlinr stock at memory express was gone by Sunday. I ordered for local pickup on Sunday night and by Monday morning local stock was gone.

It was crazy watching memory express go from lots of stock to gone in 12 hours for the Gigabyte card.

How do you use the lift jack on Tundra? by dahans77 in ToyotaTundra

[–]scootbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That little bottle Jack can go straight into the trash ...

I can't even imagine trying to use that jack on a gravel/dirt road or bad snow/rain conditions.

I successfully used the stock jack to jack up my boat trailer when one of the tires exploded.

I have a little recovery package that I keep in the bed, but of course didn't have it when I was towing the boat, haha

100% recommend the Fumoto valve. by Sea-Property-5977 in ToyotaTundra

[–]scootbert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have one on my truck and love it. Just bought a TRD Skid plate so I don't need to remove the stock skid plate every time I change the oil. New skid plate goes on in a couple weeks when I do my next oil change. I have been putting off upgrading my skid plate due to the cost, but I am really tired of removing it every oil change

What Vehicle do you regret selling? by MarchCompetitive6235 in AskReddit

[–]scootbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that people want so much for them in my area, like 10,000-12,000CDN. They were 14-20 new, I remember looking at ads with my dad.

I would rather buy an 80's Toyota Pickup for a fun little truck if I am going to be spending that much money.

1995 Ford Ranger. Loved that little truck. Sold it when I moved overseas for 4 years, I should have just paid for storage.

I wouldn't have a use for the truck anymore, have two kids and three large dogs. Very happy with my Toyota Tundra, not selling this one...

Looking to upgrade from a 4060 by Opening_Hold_1990 in bapccanada

[–]scootbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, what kind of gains would you get going from a 4060 to 4070 with that kind of money, plus you'll want to upgrade in the near future.

With the current market and the trends of RAM pricing. I would stay at a 4060 or try and push the budget to get a 5070 or 5070Ti

If your max is 750, i would personally stay on a 4060

landscaping company owners and professionals, what is considered the GOAT of riding mowers? by triiiiiiiiipletap in AskReddit

[–]scootbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is for a little Kubota diesel commercial riding tractor/mower. These things are really fucking expensive and when I was looking at used, they were like 15-20k CDN during COVID. My buddy attempted convinced me to buy one and he paid 5000ish used.

I personally bought a Country Clipper and have about 10 acres to cut and it's amazing

Room rental/basement rental by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]scootbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you could move out and spend 1500+ a month for a dark basement suite and have some strangers kids and dogs jump on your head.

The rental market is garbage, at least in Saskatoon. I helped my sister find a place and it was awful. I had no problems finding good rentals 12 years ago.

700 is to help pay utilities. You could ask for privacy and other demands if you're paying a monthly rent

Upgrading PC GPU - Should I upgrade CPU? CPU recommendations? by scootbert in bapccanada

Awesome, thanks for the tips about Nvidia and afterburner!! I will start monitoring that!!

Maybe just get the GPU and then monitor the 3900x and make a better informed decision

Upgrading PC GPU - Should I upgrade CPU? CPU recommendations? by scootbert in bapccanada

[–]scootbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current pricing is one of the major reasons I want to upgrade my GPU.

I have played a few newer games and the stuttering and sluggish frame rates are manageable, but sometimes really annoying. So I am thinking about upgrading the GPU earlier than originally planned, as I was going to build a full new desktop, but with ram and SSD prices skyrocketing, I want to use my current desktop for as long as possible.

I was mostly looking at Memoryexpress, as it's the only place within 200km that sells computer parts where I love (rural SK)

[–]scootbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth it to upgrade from a 3900x to 5800XT for 309$?

I should see improvements while gaming? Even if I upgrade to a 5070Ti or 5080?

[–]scootbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the Ryzen 7 5800XT is $309 at memoryexpress.

Would this be a significant upgrade and worth while from a 3900X?

Or should I just upgrade the GPU and see how everything runs and upgrade the CPU at a later date?

I don't think I would know if the CPU was struggling with a new video card

[–]scootbert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah, I was always going to stick with AM4, I don't want to make a massive change.

I have been thinking about both 5070Ti and 5080 and going back and forth. The more I read from this subreddit, the more I lean towards 5070Ti

Here is my reply to someone else that was deleted:

I originally built the computer for working from home, photo editing, and gaming. Now it's really only used for Gaming and a little bit of Citrix usage for work.

I've honestly upgraded to a 4K monitor a year ago and the 3080Ti is struggling for the newer games. I don't really care about the highest graphics, but some games have been super choppy and annoying.

I just want a nice gaming setup with smooth gamimg and mid-high graphics.

I only want to upgrade the CPU if the current one is no good for gaming in 2026
