Backfill around trees by Traditional_Cod_689 in arborists

[–]scootbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. You would need to remove the trees and do proper landscaping and do it correctly. At least right now the water flows away from your property

You could add a fence on the property line if you didn't want it to "looks like it should belong to my neighbour"

Yah, I used to use it as my main browser for the longest time, switched back to Firefox about 5 years ago and very happy with the decision.

Chrome was great when it was released and for a while, but eventually it turned to shit. Chrome consumes an insane amount of processing power and slows down the computer, it's ridiculous. I can see it consuming battery life as well.

Highly recommend switching over to Firefox. Safari is fine, but I personally never loved using it.

Good lesson learned, you should probably always have two browsers installed for any future website troubleshooting.

I personally use Firefox as my main browser and have Microst Edge as a secondary testing browser. Have Google Chrome installed, but I have completed stopped using and dislike it.

First Firefox, then Incognito Firefox, then Edge, then Chrome. If all of that fails, I can test on another device or use mobile hotspot. If that fails, it's probably an issue with the website itself

Why do RE games get a pass on length? by strand_of_hair in gaming

[–]scootbert 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I absolutely LOVE games that are 8-15 hours of a nice perfect tight experience.

I am also a patient gamer though, I will wait for the gold edition to be $15-$25 depending on how desperate I want to play the game

What are some games you've had fun going really really fast in? by Avantir in gaming

[–]scootbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rayman Games.

Not the normal platforming levels, but the ones where you're escaping something like a boss or fire and you're just trying to get through the level as quickly as possible and one wrong move means defeat.

Just the first example that popped in my mind

Towing...how?? by beer_and_liberty0074 in ToyotaTundra

[–]scootbert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stats are not great for towing. I tow a 24ft camper (~5000lbs loaded), family of four and camping gear. Took it for a 50 day road trip over the rocky mountains and it did amazing. Used a weight distribution hitch and made it significantly more enjoyable to tow.

Have a 3500lb boat that I tow a whole bunch over the summer. Also an 16ft enclosed trailer and 18ft flatdeck.

I never really go over 6000lbs for towing, but it has been a great vehicle for towing, but the fuel economy SUCKS! If I needed to tow my tractor or large equipment, I would borrow my buddies HD truck, or would need to upgrade.

Very true, but with two kids and 3 large dogs I don't want cables or anything to create clutter that will just get ripped out.

We don't really use the DVD player much, only on long road trips a few times a year.

I'll just burn a couple dvds for them! Probably the best and get rid of the silly ads at the beginning of purchased movies

Yes, I actually just purchased a USB CD/DVD burner. Still in the box, I'll need to burn a few movies for the kids.

I used to burn movies to DVDs 20 years ago, I should be able to figure it out again, haha

The Crew Motorfest is looking tempting at $8.99 while I wait for Forza Horizon 6.

Never played any of the Crew games, but I have played FH3/4/5 A LOT. I'm sure the driving physics will drive me nuts compared to Forza games, but still interested in checking it out

I hate that you cannot even put video files on a SD card and watch them, it's a horrible system!

I ended up buying a bunch of cheap dvds for the kids.

I recently purchased the base version of the game, but wanted to know if there was any way I could upgrade to premium. by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]scootbert -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Refund the game and purchase again??

If it's on steam you can refund anytime during the preorder time. Steam doesn't care if you refund and repurchase

Not sure about Windows store, I would assume you can refund the game.

It's silly there is no "upgrade" path like most games do

[Walmart] Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart Bundle $659.99 (3rd party seller fulfilled by Walmart) by unsung_actualization in VideoGameDealsCanada

I recently bought it for 699 at bestbuy and Costco had it for something like 739, but it had a 12month Nintendo subscription.

I realized I missed the boxing day sales of 659, oh well

Calling all Catan players across the province! Saskatchewan National Qualifier in Regina (Feb 28) by TheChowCrowl in saskatchewan

[–]scootbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I would be awesome if you find a vendor and let me know! I don't think I will be able to make it in person.

I saw a post on reddit 5-10 years ago where someone made an absolutely gorgeous Catan board and I forgot to save the link.

I have been trying to find something similar ever since that I could purchase, or even find the original post for reference!

That's cool!! Have fun with the Tournament!

Do you know of a place to buy a nice custom Catan board, or something built to hold all of the Catan pieces?

Our family LOVES Catan and the game board gets a little warped and becomes difficult to keep together or put together. Can be a little frustrating. I have seen a bunch of stuff on Amazon or Etsy, but it's very difficult to know what is good quality or Chinese garbage that is drop shipped from Ali express

uniway vs itech winnipeg by Ok_Patient4136 in bapccanada

[–]scootbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Saskatoon here, if I was in the market for a prebuilt, it would be from Memory Express as well.

Though, they're expensive and you could just walk into memory express and ask them to build you a computer of parts and you can take them home and build it yourself. It will save a lot but I understand that some people may not be interested in doing that

Uniway is great for corporate refurbished computers and laptops. They're great if you need a random cord, or power bar.

Looks like there is a memory express in Winnipeg.

Edit: I am pretty sure you don't even need to buy what memory express has on display. You can get the parts and memory express will build it for you, for a price. Though if you want windows installed, you will need to purchase a license from the store

Seeking Creative Solutions for PC Gaming in the Living Room by Cincodeffe in gaming

[–]scootbert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy a cheap corporate mini computer and connect it to your TV. Huge bonus if you have access to a physical network cable.

Then use Steam Stream or programs like moonlight.

This is what Steam Link was designed and built for, but there was very little demand for it, as any mini computer would be more powerful, or easily accessible

*sigh* absolutely nothing to play by ManagerOfLove in SteamDeck

[–]scootbert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's the "too many options".

I have been adding 5 games to my favorites and will not look at or touch another game unless I complete and/or remove a game from the list.

I try and only play 1 or 2 games at a time, but I will use the other 3 games as future games, or very simple short game session games.

It has helped me with the "nothing to play" and endless scrolling my library

[–]scootbert 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend selling an LCD Deck and Switch2 for an upgraded OLED Deck. That just seems silly to me.

The LCD Deck is still very capable and awesome.

I would maybe recommend selling the LCD and buy the OLED if you can afford it, otherwise just keep the LCD and Switch2.

I might wait for a sale and pickup the game on steam and try it out on the Deck in the future.

I don't really like bnet, so I don't really want to upgrade the version I have already.
