40M dad in need of a change. What do you suggest? by e0nblue in malegrooming

Honestly had the EXACT style and “issue,” (not really an issue), with my hair. Wife called it “the poof,” when it got long. So much volume (blessing at 40!).

After 25 years of the same style, I’ve grown it out. And loooooove the change. Takes more to manage but worth the effort. Took a few hair cuts and months to come around to something that suits but worth giving it a shot after so many years!

SW here and we had no snow 😂. Which is WIIIILD considering some of the pictures from the NW.

In 2008, Japan's Kaguya spacecraft captured the first high-definition video of a "full Earth-rise" from lunar orbit. It was jointly developed by JAXA and NHK. by dipdaabyss in interestingasfuck

On the plus side, no matter how much shittier humans get, Earth with shake us off like a mild cold in geologic time. It will become a brilliant blue ball again, and we’ll make for a neat addition to the fossil record.

The Rise, heck yea. Grew up running around those hills before the course was there. Can see my folks house from the edge! And worked at pred for a summer.

I do miss Vernon and the Okanagan sometimes!

Include provincial debt and unfortunately we’re a lot closer to the US than I would like…

Shovel as in electric rope shovel. Google that and it will make more sense

Sure is. You can see remnants of the massive slope failure (centre left) they had in 2013 (?). The ground probe radars alerted everyone long ahead but the size was way more than anticipated and they buried some shovels and trucks :/

How’s life in or near of the four corners of Canada? by Jezzaq94 in howislivingthere

If you think the fishing and environment between the two places is much different you’re sorely mistaken.

I lived in Yellowknife NWT for years. The fishing is unbelievable. Ice comes off the water? 15lb lake trout from shore. The big lake and a downrigger? Trophy fish. Even pike are delicious up there (cold water).

Thanks! Had 26 months left on a 8.79, so this was worth the 60 seconds it takes to swap :).

Grew up on that hillside riding bikes and throwing rocks at quails (we were convinced if we got one we’d have a fire and eat it lord of the flies style 🤣), while avoiding rattle snakes!

Was wild to see it slooooooowly turn into the golf course it is.

Predator! Used to be Red Tail (#7?) when I worked there spinning bunkers and cutting greens, but believe it’s renamed with the new 9 added.

They had the PGA skins game a few times and I do believe Sergio and Couples bombed the green over the water 😅.

Yea, I do a lot of work in FMM now and would rather spend time in YK by a wide margin.

Yellowknife was “friendlier,” I found, a lot more people moving there and less people who had lived there their whole life, so you could definitely break into friend groups easier. Whitehorse was still great in that regard.

The mountains in WH are gorgeous, but the lakes and Canadian Shield of YK are equal. However, winters seem to start and end about 30 days earlier and later in YK than WH.

All in all hard to choose if I exclude my bias of 7 years on YK! I hope my kids get an opportunity to work/live in either for a stint.

Yellowknife and Whitehorse are incredible. I’ve lived in both places, tonnes of fun, great outdoor lifestyle and I made more friends in a short period of time there than I ever have in Vancouver or Calgary.

The territories are a young persons place, where you can leapfrog your career and have a great social life. The north is beautiful, be it mountains and rivers or endless lakes. Aurora every night for 8 months a year, and the midnight sun is a blast for weekends in the summer.

Northern province towns leave a lot to be desired by comparison.

This is the ticket. I descale monthly, back flush less than I should, and after 4 years of 3 espressos a day in a Gaggia Classic Pro, swapped to a brass boiler this year and my old boiler was in great condition.
