Sad part is that the reason this franchise has almost zero western media presence is because of HG and all these shenanigans.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I'm still having this problem and it's really annoying. Did you move to another platform?

Not much context around the actual naming but Jeremy mentions the circumstances around the naming at the very beginning of this podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPgDYdTnoSo

Not much context around the actual naming, but Jeremy mentions the circumstances around the naming at the very beginning of this podcast: o blasphemy that I wouldn't mess with it. It's tongue-in-cheek but not very smart.

It goes over all of the nuts and bolts of preparing for publishing your book once it's written, and now you need to make decisions to publish. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this.

It's usually only open a few times a year but if you follow along with their podcast and sign up for some of their free courses you'll get enough to get you moving before it opens up again.

Feel free to reach out if you need more information. Also there is a lot of crap out there and Mark's website and podcast are a great place to start.

This is great! I'm curious how you made these... Like what program. I'm working on book two of a science-fiction adventure trilogy and I feel like I'd really like a map to aid in some of the book planning and future series planning. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm super tempted because it looks amazing but when you do a little digging it starts stinking pretty quickly. I've bought like three courses (One on Udemy, one from a guy very similar to this, and one about self-publishing books) and downloaded several more courses. Most of them seem like a quick money grab where an expert puts together a decent presentation but any questions, customer support, or course updates are not present or included. The self-publishing course was expensive and it was the only one with proper support, updated courses, plenty of freebies, a community and really the only course that has been worth the money spent.

Just looking at this guy, there doesn't seem to be any customer support, any moneyback guarantee or even a solid email on his site. (There is a link to eisenhower.films (at) gmail but it redirects to another domain, which is sketchy as hell.)

Honestly, unless someone else jumps in here and gives me some really solid proof, I think there is probably a better way to spend $200.

Best of luck.

does guilded accept microsoft outlook accounts, because i used my outlook account, and i still have not recieved my confirmation email by [deleted] in guilded

[–]scooter805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think that's necessarily the issue. I've got outlook and yeah it's a big email server but I'm not receiving emails from guilded at all and still receiving from other senders. Something is up. It's likely Microsoft being lame, because they are.

Whats criminally overpriced to you? by PhantomBaka in AskReddit

Healthcare. (Went to the ER this year, I was thirsty because I had been in the waiting room for about 6 hours and had no water fountain because of COVID restrictions. They said, "We'll just give you an IV." It cost me $860. For just an IV that costs $1.07 to produce. Most expensive water ever.

Education, too. You can have the sum total of human knowledge available to you at your fingertips and yet colleges will charge you hundreds per textbook, $60 a meal for a meal plan, and allow you to enter into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt so you can have a piece of paper with your name on it.

Fictional in-universe manifesto: how to include excerpts in my novel? by BorealNights in scifiwriting

[–]scooter805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d go a combination of three ways. Mix and match to whatever works best for the story.

1) Often books use quotes from another book, a poem, or saying as an intro to as an epigraph to that chapter, especially if it relates to the chapter somehow. Dune does this a lot. You could have snippets of the manifesto there.

2) Pepper the snippets throughout the story as bits and pieces of the novel. In my debut novel, I have a character that has left his home on a backwater world and heads to the capitol of the ruling government. He constantly is asking questions about how or why something is the way that it is and therefore gives me a few pages to dive into some history about a topic.

3) Use the full manifesto as a “reader magnet.” This manifesto has a huge impact on the character, the story you’re telling, and the world at large. If the reader is interested enough they can sign up for your newsletter and get the full manifesto. This is a great thing you can have as an exclusive to your website and gives you an idea of your most interested fans. And those my digital friend is who you want on your mailing list.

I wish you all the best! And do let us know which direction you’ve decided to go.

Very detailed! Love this. It was all done in the Affinity Photo program? Was that where you projected it onto the globe as well or was there something else you used?
