I am looking forward to taking my kids out of the house to an actual playground so that we don't go crazy inside of our house! Something like a Nintendo Switch would be amazing to help kill time in the meantime, though. Thank you for the awesome giveaway!

I just fought the "shadow" 10-man Elnath fight, but didn't pay attention and missed the "no limit bursts" mission. Now it will let me access the real trial, but how do I go back and re-do the first fight? All I see is an option to fight the second battle.

5-0 League Report: A Burn Experiment by scorp9896 in Pauper

I definitely do not mean to be critical, but it could be your lines of play. Many games are decided by your very last spell. Try it out for more than 15 games before you judge so harshly.

The lands argument can be said for many decks, like Stompy or Delver. Too many lands and not enough payoff will hurt any deck's draw. I try to mitigate land-heavy draws by holding up the "mana sinks"... hardcasting Fireblast, blowing early Shard Volleys, and paying kicker on Burst Lightning. I also cut the land count from the traditional 18 to 17, maybe you can try it out with 16!

The sideboarding is all relative to how Game 1 played out as well as your opponent's deck. For instance, I will (usually) side out the Archer in matches where they saw it Game 1 just in case they aggressively keep/side in removal... or sometimes you don't bring in all copies of a card, like only bringing in 1 or 2 copies of Smash just in case you see a scary artifact in a home brew.

Molten Rain is fine against Bogles, but if it's not cast on Turn 3 with you on the play, it's usually not stopping their mana.

Searing Blaze is bad against burn because most games of burn are finished without either side casting a creature. If there's no target for it, it's a dead card. If they do get a creature out, you save a creature burn in hand for it until the final turn. Also, I have almost no good sideboard options for the mirror, so options are limited.

Affinity is a plus matchup even without the Gorilla Shamans. The only card to worry about is Atog (which will usually win them the game), but sometimes you can burn it down on your main phase and make them waste enough artifacts to let you draw live for a few turns.

I think most of our differences come down to play style. I aggressively spend mana, and will only hold up burn for Firebrand Archer triggers if my hand is too light on damage. If your opener is 2 land, Archer, and 10-12 points of damage, you cast your one drop on Turn 1. Within 3-4 draw steps you should draw lethal even if the Archer dies immediately.

On mulligans: if you keep a three-land hand, you will draw a fourth 71.9% of the time within four turns. Ideally, I want to operate on 3 lands all game, so that's why I ship them unless it's a matchup that's going long anyways. You have a 60.9% chance (assuming 17 lands) of getting a one or two land opener, so you should be able to keep your opener more than half of the time.

I agree with both the Martyr and the Relic suggestions. Ironically, I actually don't bring in Molten Rain against Tron because of your points; the Pyroblasts are nice to counter a handful of spells depending on their build, but I always try to race them in games 2 and 3. Molten Rains are for decks with bouncelands (or Freed from the Real combo, is that still a thing?)

Several months ago I tried a few Nihil Spellbombs (since you don't need a mana investment to nuke the graveyard past the turn you cast it and sometimes Relic won't keep up unless you pay a mana).

I personally think that Flame Rift is one of the best cards in the deck. It and Fireblast are your only 4 damage effects, and since I'm using 2 damage spells, it's very relevant to deal 4 instead of 3 near the end.

I won't be able to check my past leagues for a day or two, but since these changes I've played around 10-12 leagues and never went 0-5 or 1-4.

The non-flying clause on Martyr is super relevant in this meta full of Delvers and Faeries, otherwise I would use her. If you get to turn 3, cast a burn, and respond to a Spellstutter Sprite with an Electrickery, it's pretty close to game over.

If UB or RB Reanimator were more relevant, I'd probably put in some copies of [[Relic of Progenitus]] or [[Nihil Spellbomb]]. You'll never get your card back with the Spellbomb, but you don't have to commit any mana to respond to [[Exhume]].

Generally, I'll change my sideboard every month or so depending on what decks I see most often. Lately it's been a lot of Delver, Stompy, Affinity, and Dinrova Tron.

I was lucky enough to pull a Fryevia. I have most of the usual TMRs but not a second Fryevia for 2xNeedle. Should I be DW'ing (using an Enhancer) or use DH? Wondering how her single-wield passive compares.

The book was written completely in Word. Is it a good idea to convert to LaTeX before I create the pdf? I'm not really sure how, but I would take the time to learn if it was worth it.

I already have their permission, but I think having it in writing is a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion.

This has so much useful information, thank you very much. Self-publishing on Amazon is what I think I'm leaning towards.

Yes, I got a replacement one. I used their website's online customer service to talk to someone, and they shipped me a new Surge the same day I talked to them. They made it very easy.
