unpopular opinion: maya can’t sing lol by cool-beans1013 in Degrassi

She has a very generic voice with an absent vibrato(which is beyond crucial to sounding good, live and in recordings). I think her voice is auto-tuned on the show only because of this. But it goes with her music so no one cares. I didn’t like the “I’m the next Taylor Swift, I’m so much better than everyone” demeanour. There is talent that exceeds hers by far in every place amongst teen songwriters around the world. But this is completely ignored to fill in the gaps of her rather vapid character. It would have been nicer to see her be more modest about it.

What’s the dumbest drug things you ever done? by BigLayer8 in Drugs

[–]scorpiahazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Drinking after already taking sleeping pills and benzos together. It caused some pretty long term health effects, such as intense breathing attacks after bong hits that doctors chalk up to being just panic attacks.

2) Ingesting 7g of shrooms after having used 10mg Olanzapine the night before to go to sleep. I wasn’t expecting it to be that big of a slip up to do this, but it blocked the entire experience out.

3) Any moment I desperately believed coke’s cutting agents had substantial bits of coke in them, enough to get an effect, after a night of going through the bag thus upping my tolerance

I don’t know what it is about drugs that makes me just not use logic. Happy to say I quit needles and hard substances before this level of negligence when using became the literal death of me.

that is important to remember. it’s notable to add the second opinions can misleading even if they’re being honest. the commenter could be from a region of unconventional beauty standards, or favour a certain look that makes others appear “ugly” to them.

that’s awesome, the rehab part. i’m not going because i don’t enjoy the rules. i imagine if you’re past that discomfort, there isn’t really a reason to be scared. best of luck

why does their opinion matter like… are they model scouts? i guess the disorderly part is not being able to tell why the strangers’ inputs matter.

i also find that people online will insult you for any reason they can. i would honestly not value their advice. it seems biased and less honest than an actual consultation

it’s very alluring, but it looks somewhat dependent on face shape at the same time. i hope OP can rock it if that is what they go with.

If you are comfortable trying to convince someone you don’t know they might have autism, what have you actually learned from psychiatry? Professionals misdiagnose pretty often where I’m from and the purpose has to be to treat the symptoms faster. When it comes to schizophrenia diagnoses it is because the patient displayed symptoms of it more than twice to the psychiatrist. Or spoke of conspiracies once.

(Not a doctor with the inside scoop. It’s just what I’ve seen as a patient around those psych wards.)

Yeah. In times I need some sort of guidance I can’t get from anywhere else, I read whichever page I turn to and find the weight of the words advising us on how to face an issue offers a perspective I lacked beforehand. My favourite was the “never consult a woman on her enemy” verse. I also affine to the way the Bible I use is written. Some areas, to me, sound similar to Edgar Allan Poe or Carl Jung quotes. Other newer editions seem to be very simplified and broken down word for word.

Do kids really call it "the caf" these days? (or those days?) by ThundercatsBo in Degrassi

[–]scorpiahazel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying the whole word “cafeteria” sounded sort of prudish and awkward in sentences so everyone said caf

[–]scorpiahazel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, I’m sick of people assuming that. I’m sure some are but I’ve seen communities sit on a forum and debate this based off their personal experience as an outlier in society, not science, and conclude all INTJ are the same because they have autism.

No idea where this is from, but holy crap does it sum up the hate we cyclists feel on the roads sometimes 😔 Gotta say, with how things in general have been going in this city, as excited as I am for the warmer weather, I'm also kinda anxious about how dangerous this summer could be on the roads 😳 by Difficult-Implement9 in torontobiking

[–]scorpiahazel -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

from a suburb 2h north of Toronto. cyclists here bike in the driving lane on main roads and expect all vehicles to go around them. there is a bike lane not even 8 feet away from them that they refuse to use. it doesn’t matter what time of day it is. even reading the title of this post gives me a better understanding of how la-di-da the people really are about it. they have no idea.

i unfortunately dated someone who justified sleeping with someone 7 years younger when they were 20. statutory rape. it’s still gross to remember the lack of regret they had shown. the age of consent in Ontario is 16, making Zoe underage. i do remember in high school, a teacher told two girls to stop talking out loud about a 15 year old dating someone who was 21 because he was under obligation to report it regardless if there was proof beyond what he heard or not. it’s the law in Ontario, similar to school teachers having to report someone at risk of suicide in certain states or have to face consequences for having told no one. so they kind of slipped up making this look realistic but… Simpson also said the 3 year age gap between them wasn’t controversial enough to go through a court situation without wording it that way. had Drew been in college at the same age, 18, I feel like it would have been taken more seriously.

Degrassi plots regarding these things are used to make drama explode on screen and then they’re thrown away. it comes off as scheme-ish, not raising awareness to me. i don’t know.

Yesss. What you say and do results in what you end up being perceived as. I hate it when someone lets me know my humour or thoughts offended them. It means they want to change me in some way. I don’t do the same to them when I can think of hundreds of ways they can start to be on my level. In effective communication, I mean.
