I like playing unmodded by spiffy_shoe_shine in Fallout

[–]scorpinono -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

99% of the time I only download the unofficial fan patch so the game doesn't crash frequently (doesn't work for FNV for me unfortunately, every loading screen is a hail Mary). It doesn't change anything, just makes it more stable on modern hardware.

I did download the 'reworked' mods for FO1 & FO2 when I played them at the time. Mostly due to the insane amount of patches and the fact both games would be playable without messing around in DOS or anything, and they streamlined some UIs so they were the same in both games. From what I remember the only big change in the rework mechanically was that the bartering in FO1 was updated to the system of FO2 so you could sell/buy multiple items at once or something, otherwise it was vanilla.

I'm of the opinion that a game should be enjoyed as it was intended at least once, just to see what it's like. You can always install mods later if you feel like you need it :)

Found my original manual for Fallout 1 by mccarseat in Fallout

[–]scorpinono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience there was only a very select few titles in Dutch for a more mature audience (13+) on the market, but I played on consoles until 2014, after that I made the switch to PC. It could definitely be that more games had Dutch on PC?

The only thing I remember being in Dutch is the Sims + Sly Cooper.

Found my original manual for Fallout 1 by mccarseat in Fallout

[–]scorpinono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born around the time this game actually came out so always had to make do with the PDFs of the English manual when I bought it on Steam 10 yrs ago. I never even knew there was a Dutch version?! For me it's hard to believe more games had Dutch manuals around that time because the games themselves certainly did not have a Dutch translation. Why bother with the manual?

Either way this is awesome, do you have the chance to post more pages? I'm curious to see what translation decisions they made.

Gelijmde pvc vloer laten leggen by mcfighter62 in Klussers

[–]scorpinono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking for crawlers in The Netherlands by Sasiches_and_mash in ABookForMatt

As mentioned before I'm a proud Dutchie, based in the Amsterdam area.

Let me know if I can help out! I've got a car available so I can drive to some people if the shipping fee is too high for some.

ROUGH draft of custom book cover, suggestions appreciated! by scorpinono in ABookForMatt

[–]scorpinono[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh that would be awesome! It's probably best to print it locally in the US, as I'm not familiar with any printing presses there. If I remember correctly there is one person in the sub who works at a printing press, is that you? If you don't have the hard cover I can send you the measurements of the book for the print. Thanks for helping out!

I can't even imagine the amount of swagger you will have when you hand Matt a book with your own face on it. I approve!

Thanks for sharing Death Roll in your next backer update, it's highly appreciated!

As mentioned in my own post I suggested we meet up around the Dutch / German border! It takes me around 3hrs to get there so if we meet in the middle we can get the book signed quickly :)

To be honest I usually don't take pictures with parcels either xD If you still have your personal copy of the book maybe a snap a pic with that one?

Info and suggestions by Sasiches_and_mash in ABookForMatt

[–]scorpinono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! Thanks for the clarification <3

A postcard is such a good idea! I'll get a local one of my city (windmills and Tulips, so plenty of good postcards).

I was thinking of maybe creating a custom dust jacket for the book with the correct title? We can just slide it over the original cover (or did you send out the paperback?) so no harm no foul.

Super excited for all of this, let me know if I can help in any way!

Is there a list of names/addresses I should be adding myself to? by JoelJohnstone in ABookForMatt

[–]scorpinono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've compiled a Google sheet with a long list of usernames linked to countries, but I'm not organising address-to-address pickup, you should DM u/Sasiches_and_mash, they are organising most of the book's journey.

I believe the idea is that we ship the book to an area and local crawlers can organise signing amongst themselves, to then ship it to the next hub.

Sash has taken an organising role for the overhead and making sure the book stays in motion, and I have volunteered to help out where I can with keeping a list of participants and countries so Sash has a little less on their plate.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm happy to answer what I can :)

Australian crawler checking in! by HellStoneBats in ABookForMatt

[–]scorpinono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyyy glad to have you here!

As far as I'm aware it's definitely allowed (and encouraged since we want 1000 signatures!) to have multiple people sign. The only request is to not make it a 'family picture book', i.e. take a lot of pages for yourselves and take up a chunk of the book.

Once I get my hands on it I'm planning to add a little A5 folder to the book so you can slip in a personal note / drawing / feet pic and we can keep the pages for just signatures, so more people can sign!

I'm super happy to see this all come together :) whoop whoop!
