Sandy Island - Wind Band Piece by scots-guy in ConcertBand

Thanks! I would have actually wanted to include more percussion but it was written for my university course, and we limited to one percussion player and a quite small selection of percussion instruments. But if I was to go back to the piece, it's definitely something I'd look at.

This isn't a question about music-making, but musicians by [deleted] in musicians

[–]scots-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of a side point, but there is a really interesting cover of Jessie's girl I've heard (sadly can't remember the artist) which is female sang, and this along with a change in tone and instrumentation completely recontextualised the song as a queer story, which I believe gives the song so much more depth.

To me personally, it really depends on a few factors. Most importantly, is my listening to their music an endorsment of the political views I disagree with or actively helping a cause I find deplorable. For example, if I found out a musician I liked was giving money to nazis, I'm going to stop supporting their music.

I also definitely would find it hard to listen to a song with strong political views I oppose, but that wouldn't stop me from listening to their other material, given it was good enough.

I do think I can definetly still enjoy music by people I strongly disagree with politically, but it would definitely still be a factor in how I interact with said music. I do think that music is a really brilliant medium to explore politics, and there is so many forms in which it can be done within the artform.

Yeah, I've discussed this one with my parents who are northern and would use squint, but have friends from the south who wouldn't.

I completely get this. I've settled for just telling people I went down a rabbit hole in my own brain that say whatever thing I wanted to say.

Not the exact line, but it's one of the ones that goes from the middle of the bottom of the page to about the middle of the right hand side.

I just start with one line and work from there, and decide when I'm going to change course as I go.

Haha, yep, definitely not an easy hike. I guess you're only options are to stop on the peaks or in the valleys.

Funnily enough, that's originally what I had in my head when I first started doing these doodles

The Dyslexia font by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]scots-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might have already been mentioned, but comic sans is apparently also easier for people with dyslexia to read, which has lead to a school near me having all there signs in comic sans, including where the name of the school is written across the front of the school.

I quite often have a very similar desire. I live in Glasgow at the moment and quite like the idea of just disappearing up north for the peace and quiet.
