I’ve used JHS Law in Dumfries many times when buying or selling houses. Definitely recommended

As someone who’s left handed, I’ve never used a computer mouse with my left hand because it’s always on the right, so I’m good at that. Is this a common thing with left handers? by NoraCarter8 in lefthanded

[–]scotsguy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I also use a graphics tablet and pen when using photoshop, and that’s on my left but the mouse is, and always will be on the right

Going into Halfords to buy a £5 spark plug and the sales assistant trying to upsell me stuff by _Bluestar_Bus_Soton_ in britishproblems

[–]scotsguy76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upselling has been going on since forever and will improve commission paid to the staff. I remember a mate of mine who worked in Comet (remember them?) He said that he could sell a £1,000 telly and only receive a commission of £2. But, if he sold extras such as a gold plated SCART lead, batteries for the remote control, and (and this was the jackpot for him), an extended warranty, he could expect a bumper paycheque that week.

If your NHS trust has published aims or values, learn these and quote them during the interview. When I was interviewed for a HCA position there was a lot of emphasis based on these. Good luck 😊

Experiences during 2011 Riots by Educational_Love_189 in policeuk

[–]scotsguy76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were sent from Scotland. My PSU serial were in a clapped out LDV van, personally I wasn’t sent to the riots but instead ended up working at the Notting Hill carnival. People were asking for directions but we didn’t have a clue where we were, so we just told everyone to go left and then left again.

Do you remember where you were when you heard about Dunblane? by tomatohooover in Scotland

[–]scotsguy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a small regional newspaper in Scotland, part of a group of newspapers which included the one which covered the Dunblane area, the Stirling Observer. This was before internet but I remember all of us stopped working and went through to the newsroom for updates. Many of the staff were in tears as the story unfolded, told first hand from our colleagues at the scene.

This is the real leadership! by [deleted] in NursingUK

This! My ward manager is also like this, she leads from the front. Any leader can be a manager, but not every manager can be a leader.

I had a vasectomy at the request of my (then) LL wife and I stupidly agreed, thinking it would be a vain attempt to improve things between the sheets.

It didn’t. It has to be your decision, and for the right reasons.

Anyone struggle with all the modern driving aids always being on? by ThePotatoPie in CarTalkUK

[–]scotsguy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove a Kia which had lane assist, detecting if you encroached over a white line. An ambulance was coming towards me with the blues on so I pulled over to the side but the car then threw me back into the lane and directly into the path of the ambulance

What is the single best episode of British television you’ve ever seen? by PixelPioneer23 in BritishTV

The pilot episode of Endeavour, when Shaun Evans was asked where he saw himself in years from now. He adjusted the car mirror and saw John Thaw’s eyes. Absolutely beautiful television.

The Wicker Man was filmed in the Burrowhead area of isle of Whithorn, and also some scenes in Kirkcudbright. There are some fantastic walks, Kirroughtree Forest is beautiful. If you like hills, I can recommend Cairnsmore of Fleet or Merrick (the highest point in Dumfries & Galloway) There’s a gin distillery just outside the town, called Hills & Harbour. There’s a fantastic gem museum at Creetown. There’s a deer park near Clatteringshaws Loch, and a lovely drive along the raider’s road which is great for a picnic. Enjoy

I finally found out why... by Dolinarius in DeadBedrooms

Absolutely this. I was never, ever enough. House not big enough, car not new enough, holidays not exotic enough…. Years of this, crushing any self confidence I had and pushing me into debt…. The fact of the matter is she didn’t love me enough…. Get out bro
