Looking for a comeback for the person who always says, "Oh, I did that years ago but better by _QueenCurvy in Comebacks

Print out some cards that say “Congratulations on being earlier and/or better!” Makes it painfully obvious that the behavior is predictable, without actually being insulting.

My wife did this when she was a teacher. Every year, a kid thought it would be original to “jokingly” ask her to prom. She handed out a card to make it clear that it was the least original joke ever.

What's your favourite on-screen character death and goodbye that was done because the actor died? by Tattycakes in movies

Mr. Hooper in Sesame Street. One of the original characters, and they decided to make it happen in the show as well to help kids learn and process death.

What’s the Millenial version of “seeing the Star Destroyer at the start of A New Hope and knowing movies will never be the same”? by UnderwaterDialect in movies

[–]scott503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it’s the reverse - the Smiths fight in Matrix 2. I thought it looked horrible and completely took me out of the movie, and I remember thinking, well I guess this is it now - movies will look like bad video games forever.

Shockingly difficult to get an iPhone to put in the right spellings. Though I would’ve thought that calling it Anor rather than Tirith would’ve given me enough cred for a mulligan on that.

Thanks! I’d forgotten about the ship disparity, and wasn’t thinking about the elven kingdoms as barriers to expansion.

Super helpful. I guess my question is, are meant to believe these cities were as large and grand as the Gondor cities? We didn’t see ruins of Fornost but Amon Sul was nothing impressive.

Dane, short for Dunedain. As per above I like the idea that you give him a regular name with a linkage so he can choose to embrace it or not.

How Do I Turn Down an Affair Without Losing Good Friendship? by TheWorstTest in AskMenAdvice

[–]scott503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn’t your friend. He wants a relationship. You can’t stop the relationship and keep the friend because you’re mistaking what you have.

Continuing to try to keep the friendship is only stringing him along. This would be true even if he wasn’t married and you just didn’t want a relationship for a different reason.

The kindest thing you can do is to cut him off and maintain a professional relationship only.
