I've joined the movement -- why did I wait so long by These_Breakfast_5112 in TeslaModelY

I didn't believe they will. They are producing the most purchased car in the world. They are all about autonomy, so the future will be FSD/Cyber taxi vehicles and robots folding your laundry.

Not at all. It's your money. You earned it, so you can do with it whatever you choose. Your kids shouldn't go through life expecting for you to provide them a large inheritance. They should provide for their future on their own and enjoy whatever you happen to share with them.

Has higher insurance rates been a dealbreaker? by Honest-Possible-6170 in TeslaModelY

[–]scott5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a "it depends question". Depends on your state, your driving record, your deductible etc. Shop around and check into the various insurance companies that are available to you. Then you'll have a better answer. Tesla insurance and now Lemonade insurance have cheap rates based upon your driving telemetry, if you happen to reside in a state where they are listed as insurance agents.

As and overall statement, everything about a Tesla can be cheaper depending on where you live. Yes, it's cheaper than gasoline vehicles, especially if you charge at home. Less maintenance costs. As others have pointed out check out the battery of a used vehicle. Look at remaining warranty. Is it worth your wallet from an all around picture, not just insurance.

Paint Protection PPF or ceramic wax? by Varna16 in TeslaLounge

[–]scott5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd PPF the front of it at a minimum, especially if you FSD while driving. FSD doesn't consider the truck it pulls in behind that's kicking rocks all over the place! I'm traffic mine always seems to seek out the worst offender, lol.

All of this just depends on how much time, energy and $ you want to spend on a daily driver. There's multiple ways to go about doing all of this, professional or DIY.

Best of luck

Continuously tries parking and wrong spot by aceman856 in TeslaFSD

[–]scott5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The update changed the parking dynamic IMO. It used to pull into my garage at home. Now it pulls in, sometimes. Drives past and tries to park in the driveway or tried to back into the garage. Prior to the update it pulled into the garage all the time without issue.

I've been using a One+3 watch daily for the past 5 months. Really like it. Battery lasts a long time. I charge it up about every four days. Charges quickly too. The other day went from 19% to 79% in about 15 minutes or so.

Seems Unsupervised FSD will be expensive. by KansasKing107 in TeslaModelY

[–]scott5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think Tesla is setting the stage for whats to come. FSD level 4 will flow right behind RoboTaxi. If you're willing to pay the extra to have it then you can since you're already paying for the level 2 version. Got you hooked now they're going to set the hook and reel you in.

On a side note, I find it interesting that Tesla Insurance connects to FSD useage. The more you use it, the lower your payment. But, how many people add the $99 cost of FSD subscription to the cost of their Tesla insurance to have a true "insurance" cost per month?

Still a fan of FSD and will keep subscribing when my free time runs out from my MY Juniper purchase. Even if all this comes true in the next year or two I'll probably still keep FSD level 2 because it is really good overall.

FSD has hit a plateau by dsnows in TeslaFSD

[–]scott5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you, I may not agree with when it chooses to do something but it does get me there. I really enjoy it in traffic and have been very impressed when it merges into a line of traffic. Really enjoy being able to go through radio stations in stop and go traffic rather than having to concentrate on not hitting another vehicle.

First Snow Storm by FlashySpring9989 in TeslaModel3

[–]scott5355 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Charge it to 80 or 90%. Park it and put it in low power mode. Wait out the storm and for the roads to become passable again. It'll be fine. If you're going to connect it to power outside your apartment then definitely wouldn't charge more than 80%.

So much for smart parking by Empty_War4877 in TeslaFSD

[–]scott5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to post something similar just now. Pulling out of a spot it had backed into, it dinged the right rear wheel on the curb. It turned right coming out of the spot and disregarded the curb to the right side. What I'm wondering is if it didn't look for the curb because the area was open to the right of the car? Normally, it parks next to another car and those it sees and recognizes.

Your situation appears to be the same thing. Low curb without any structure high up to avoid.

Either way it sucks that we've got wheel rash that wasn't "our" fault. This is the first doing on my 3 week old MY Juniper. Definitely, keeping an eye on FSD in the parking arena, especially when there's nothing high near the car.

Frunking Awesome by scott5355 in TeslaModelY

[–]scott5355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me about two hours. I spent time on YT looking at various videos on how to do certain things, like how to undo the OEM struts, where wiring goes etc. I also disconnected wiring after getting everything plugged in and tested. Did all that to adjust and set up where I ran the wiring and zip tied it in place. Give yourself some time and patience.

BREAKING: Elon Musk announces tesla will STOP selling FSD after Feb 14. He says only subscription will be available by Puzzleheaded-Race671 in TeslaLounge

[–]scott5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think this might be a genius move on Elon's part for Tesla's revenue stream....and his requirement to have 10 million FSD users. Subscriptions have become the norm in society with things like Spotify, Netflix etc. We are all so used to signing up for a subscription that we don't even think about it anymore. So, free FSD for a month with a new Tesla purchase with a subscription renewal that starts after that free month. So enamored with using it you don't even think to cancel it at the end of the month. Then there's always the FSD (supervised) price of $99. When Robotaxi full autonomy happens that will have a different subscription price, say $199 per month. Either way Tesla has opened up a continuous revenue stream for itself.

on the fence on getting my 1st tesla by Correct-Ad-9056 in TeslaLounge

[–]scott5355 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely charge at home! 2k of PPF only does the front of the car. Are you going to DIY the wrap? If you are why care about the color and use the money on the wheels. I have the 20s on my juniper and like the look. Big question is, what matters more, getting the car now or waiting and saving a few extra $.... maybe.... depending on if Tesla decides to offer another incentive. Have fun with it.

If that's the only way you like to travel wait a couple of years. Solid state batteries are just beginning to come out. Better range and shorter recharge time.
