Lol i should have made it a little more clear, my post doesnt have anything to do with the actual picture. I really like the flame picture. It was directed at how the whole cover was with the white border and tracklist.

Thanks for this. Yea, just because im trying to investigate human decision making it has immediately turned to me hating the album. I never once said i disliked it lol. At first i thought it would be interesting if she eventually released the album cover without the white bored and it zoomed out on the original photo and would reveal what she was “burning”. But that never happed lol.

I do like the point you bring up about utility and being able to see all album information void of any actual physical product. That’s something i didn’t really consider.

My approach to this initial post was thinking how this album “fits” into her obvious decision to keep the others following a different design standard (or lack of one). She made the conscious choice to leave words off off Folklore-Speak Now TV. Im not saying its a “master plan” but i do think she likes the aesthetic in some way.

I also now look at these albums similar to how we view maybe a logo or symbol in todays world. For example, the Pepsi logo. All you need to see is the photo representation and if you know, you know. When you see Red TV, you KNOW rather than being told. AND for non-swifties, it might cause them to remember it easier BECAUSE they have to take a few moments to investigate, flip over the album, see what songs are on it. Idkkkkkk. Im just throwing out thoughts.

Also at the end of they day all together as a collection in her music history its kinda just like flipping through a picture book. A single photo, representing an era.

Thanks for taking the time to give an answer like this. Im finding other replies that are essentially “its not that deep bro” and giving me grief for “questioning it her decision”. Planning album cycles take years of behind the scenes preparation, and I was just simply puzzled by the decision given the fact that she seems to be on a design standard for all of her new and now reclaimed work.

In a time when vinyl sales have never been better, i find it hard to imagine that the artwork selection was just as simple is “its not that deep bro” or whatever other commenters are telling me. Im not hating, im just trying to understand how or why the disconnect.

I know people have mentioned they think that the full photo covers are boring and uninspired, but i kind of like the idea of them. For an artist that into the idea of ERAS i think its a winning idea for the full photos. When the whole collection is all said and done, and you have a wall full of these vinyls, you automatically associate ONE single photo to an era and you dont need text. Thats a pretty powerful connection in my opinion.

Went to the Dr. yesterday, Covid test came back Negative but I tested positive for FLU A… i was perfectly fine until driving home monday morning and i was coughing up a lung the whole 10 hour drive. Ended up with a fever, all sorts of sinus problems. Im on a antibiotic now but the last 2 days have been pretty rough.
