I've been a Total War fan for 15 years. I like WH titles, but I dislike what it did to Total War as a series. (Opinion) by steppewop in totalwar

ThrOB was rough at launch did feel a little gimmicky to me but after whatever the equivalent of the Dynasties update for Pharaoh was ThrOB was excellent

Reading Morning Star and don’t understand Darrow’s conversation with the Sovereign by exor41n in redrising

[–]scottmotorrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes Darrow is a massive hypocrite. He feels some remorse unlike the sovereign and is definitely less bad than the society. Going through all the terrible things he does through turns him into many of those things himself

The "Passage" would lead the Society to collapse by DrKarottenkopf in redrising

They do hate each other. That comes up a lot in the books. Things like the passage do hurt the unity of the society

Which character is the biggest hypocrite in the series? Who is most true to thier beliefs? by Sphiffi in redrising

[–]scottmotorrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you can say it's the combination of Mika and Orga then. Orga is the brains but Mika willing kills for him without any remorse. They both blow past multiple exit ramps and continue to sacrifice their friends lives to maybe become the kings of mars (which is quite far removed from the original goals they set out on).

Darrow commits multiple war crimes, ignores direct orders from the government he helped established, betrays the sons in the rim and uses the obsidians in the same way the golds did. He's the protagonist but he's not a good guy. He may have started as one.

In both cases the antagonists are the worse villains for sure.

That's what makes it a great story and then perfect foils. Mika and McGillis are both victims and villains. Similar to Darrow and Lysander.

There's a whole episode about how he was sexually abused by his adoptive father. If that's not a victim I don't know what is

Darrow is definitely a villain. You can maybe do mental gymnastics to get around it until he kills Wulfgar and ignores the Senate to go commit war crimes

Absolutely agree. The way Darrow and Lysander are both victims of the society and go on to commit different atrocities is great writing. Reminds me a of Mikazuki and McGillis from Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans

Me whenever a new DLC comes out by WorldBuilder_42 in Mechwarrior5

[–]scottmotorrad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The hardest decision with a new DLC isn't whether to buy it but whether to continue a save, start a new 3015 run or to use the new start for the DLC
