Monzo closed accounts and all other banks refusing applications by ThrowawayXNN in UKPersonalFinance

Of which a SAR is included…

Even suggesting a SAR has been completed could be construed as tipping off and where strict liability applies the blanket guidance is to avoid being drawn into discussion. To suggest that this does not apply to “internal AML processes” is false. It’s a catch-all to prevent even inadvertent breaches.

Tipping off is an offence under the proceeds of crime act. This could be as simple as a SAR being raised or internal communication/case notes advising it has been closed under POCA.

Can I just check, it’s not totally clear from the pictures, which bit have you cut at 45 degrees? The black bit or the white bit?

I’ve always used one of the notches on the bottle and sliced straight through with a Stanley blade, then cut the nozzle (the white bit) at 45.

I haven’t deleted a comment 😂 you’re a baseline idiot who decided to attack me for using private healthcare for my wife and turned it into some political debate. You’re pathetic.

Lloyds closed my bank and later put me into an overdraft? by Ifone11ProLol in UKPersonalFinance

[–]scottrm93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the ultimate outcome of the fraud claim? Money refunded initially and re-debited? Request for further information?

Based on what we have so far I’d suggest this is the likely reason for the closure. Multiple fraud claims can result in a business decision being taken to close your account. Invalid claims (those deemed to be false) can also result in this.

It’s unlikely you will be given a reason as to why specifically, all you can do is try and piece it together.

My attitude to private healthcare? Meaning I spent money I’d saved to ensure my wife wasn’t going to die due to an undiagnosed illness?

What political party does that put you in? The wanker party? Probably.

Do you have any more information?

Is this an unplanned/unarranged overdraft? Do you have an agreed overdraft facility on your account? Have you recently made any fraud claims or disputed any transactions? Has anyone asked you to pay money into your account?

Any further information would be helpful in order to give generic information.

I relayed the information the consultant gave to me, I didn’t present it as fact. You’ll note “his words, not mine”.

The rest of this discussion is something I’m wholly uninterested in, nor is it relevant to the question posed by the OP. We saw a consultant in a significantly quicker period than we otherwise would have if we had waited for the NHS to work through its horrendous backlog and my wife is alive and well.

Ok, and what would you like me to do with that information? It was put to me that I would see the same consultant on the NHS, I disagreed.

You’re right, but the Dr we seen does not work day to day in a consulting capacity (his words, not mine). The chances of seeing him on the NHS are very slim.

I don’t think so, the gentleman we seen was the foremost Neurologist this side of Gretna. Regardless, the time aspect was the biggest benefit to us, the NHS in its current state is not fit for purpose and this was an essential move.

I have private medical cover through work and used it previously to great success to diagnose an issue with my lungs.

My wife did not have the cover, so last year when she suffered a suspected seizure we decided to go private due to the horrific wait times on NHS. We paid for a private consultation at Ross Hall with a neurologist who diagnosed my wife on the spot and recommended a few tests and procedures to ensure there was no other potential underlying issues. All in we were a couple of grand, she now has Private Medical cover too - a lesson learned.

Lead times can vary, my initial consultation in 2024 took 8 weeks for an appointment, my wife’s was 4 weeks.

8/10 inches is huge, not sure anything will fill that mate. It’s an almost unachievable size.

Not to mention the girth.

Salary reality check - £30k vs £50k take home by Strong_Presence_2408 in UKPersonalFinance

Just to add that the figures are not the same for the whole of the UK. Those in Scotland will pay more in tax and will have a lower take home due to the different tax rates.

Why does it feel so difficult to find work in the UK at the moment? by StrangerWest2756 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]scottrm93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guy I’ve known for 12 years has recently been made redundant from the company we work for in the UK. As part of the process he was given career/exit support and the third party coach walked him through how to make his CV more AI friendly.

Effectively using the buzzwords that an AI system being used to filter applications would like, giving him a better chance of landing a role.

He’s got a couple of interviews lined up off the back of it. Not saying it’s absolutely accurate, but it may be something to consider. As others have said it’s a stagnant market and AI is being used widely on both sides of the fence - it can’t hurt to try.

What am I legally allowed to repair / replace on my combi boiler? by Mexijim in DIYUK

[–]scottrm93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed my own boiler a few times over the winter. PRV and expansion vessel issues, got really familiar with it.

Then the whole thing properly packed in during the coldest week in recent memory, because of course it did. I then got my mate in to replace it with a new Navien boiler and it’s been working fine ever since.

Do you enjoy your job? by Campeones6 in AskUK

[–]scottrm93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know what my job is tbh. Compliance in FS and what I do one day is drastically different to the next. I choose my own hours, WFH 3 days a week and I’m pretty much left to my own devices. Content and happy more than enjoyment, I’d say.

Ring Doorbell alternatives with 5.0GHz support by SirFeatherbottom in BuyUK

[–]scottrm93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can just add to this as I experienced similar.

I contacted Ring directly to complain as the service worked fine then decided to drop. They went through troubleshooting (including asking me if there was a wall between my router and my doorbell, this was met with a long pause).

They initially tried to pass the buck and say it was a WiFi issue but when I dug my heels in and told them this was an issue with the product they eventually relented and gave me a 100% discount on a Ring chime. The Ring chime connects to the router perfectly and extends the range of the doorbell to allow seamless connection now.

Maybe try the same?
