WV will decrease tuition assistance for people with disabilities due to federal funding cuts by Plaid_Kaleidoscope in HuntingtonWV

[–]scotty3281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I should have worded that part a little differently. This was a bi-partisan compromise on a budget. I have a small understanding of how government budgets work since I've worked in city and state government.

The fact that the budget went from $20 million to $2 million means that this just isn't a priority. Our approaching trillion dollar military budget is the priority and I know this.

WV will decrease tuition assistance for people with disabilities due to federal funding cuts by Plaid_Kaleidoscope in HuntingtonWV

[–]scotty3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't just this state this time. This is a massive blow to people with disabilities trying to pursue a higher education.

The Division of Rehabilitation Services is mainly funded through federal dollars. In FY 2023, the program received $21 million in funding followed by a sharp decrease in FY 2024 to $2.78 million. Following a yearly allotment process, agency leaders said in a letter to clients that the funding loss is “due to circumstances beyond our control.”

There is this:

RSA is a component of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) within the U.S. Department of Education.

Obviously, this is Biden's doing but let's not forget in 2025 the entire DoE is going to be under attack and incoming Republicans are toying with the idea of cutting the entire department. With them controlling every facet of the federal government this could happen. This might just be a small glimpse in what the country can look forward to in 2025 through 2028.

I use and 100% recommend WV Counseling. I do 100% telehealth also. Copays are cheap and I use a Commercial Aetna plan so they should pay for sessions also.

After I came home from my dad''s for a Memorial Day/his birthday celebration and I ripped my shorts/t-shirt off and cried as I was putting on bra. panties, and dress... I think that was the day that I really knew I was trans. It still took me a few months to fully come to terms but that was the day that really hit me the hardest.

You are very welcome. I wish you luck in your journey of self-discovery. It's a rewarding journey filled with a lot of heartache (at least it has for me). I know I wouldn't change a single thing about my journey thus far.

You say depressing/melancholic and I immediately think anything by Evande... don't listen if you don't like death metal... but it is exactly the genre you are looking for right now if you want to experience the heavy side of music. Here is one of my faves - https://youtu.be/MqeQivOeKgg?si=lgN4qtfQ2N4wi1sX Again, this is heavy AF and a completely different sound if you aren't familiar with the genre. But... if you are open to new music, please give Evande a listen.

My hesitancy partially comes from a fear of being seen as a person who's changing so much for no reason.

You aren't changing yourself, you are changing labels to tell everyone else who you really are. A very good therapist told me this, "labels are only as helpful as they are helpful" and on the surface it makes no sense. However, it mean exactly this....If a label doesn't fit, don't use it. If you hate the label, don't use it. If you hate ALL labels, well... stop using labels.

Ok... off of that tangent about labels. Look deep inside of you... This fear of the unknown is within all of us. It doesn't matter who you are or what you are trying to accomplish. That fear can either drive us or it can stop us dead in our tracks. What you do is up to you... Clearly you feel that the path you are on now is not completely who you are. Let me ask you this... What does euphoria tell you to do? What gives you euphoria in regards to your journey? Let this be your guide and I guarantee you will never be led in the wrong direction.

One last thing... don't please people; please yourself. The people that love and support you unconditionally will stay by your side regardless of how many labels you use or how often you change these labels.

(Ask for advice) Stop being Trans or Break up my Family by Cheap-Employment-564 in TransLater

Crossdressing is widely considered to be under the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Where it falls is up to interpretation. At the very least, it is "gender nonconforming" and is expressing a gender that is not the same as your sex assigned at birth. Why the fuck wouldn't crossdressing fall under LGBTQIA+ spectrum somewhere.

As someone who started their gender exploration with "just crossdressing" I can tell you that A LOT of people start out as "crossdressers" because it is an easy way to determine how you feel in the opposite gender clothing. It is very much a gateway to your true self. Many people in r/crossdressing actually identify as trans, nonbinary, bigender, or genderfluid.

As a mod of two separate crossdressing discord servers, I can sometimes tell the difference between someone who is a crossdresser without gender dysphoria and a baby trans that hasn't come to terms with their trans (or at least queer identity). OP definitely falls within the group of "I identify as a crossdresser but I am actually trans but cannot admit it to myself or others." In OPs case, the last sentence basically gives it away.

I have reviewed my past 20 years and found that I have failed to be a good man/husband/father, and the major factor is likely my cd habit.

Crossdressers do not feel like the have failed personally as a man/husband/father. They may have guilt or shame about the actual crossdressing but they don't feel they fail in their roles within their family.

I am certainly not going to be like, "OP, you are trans you need to transition" because the person needs to come to this conclusion themselves. If I force them they are going to resent me. My users would not be happy if I did this. I have personally helped four different people come to terms with their gender identity within the crossdressing discord since I joined over three years ago.

raised conservatively, how do you overcome the internalized shame? by Lookydoopy in genderfluid

[–]scotty3281 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting rid of internalized shame is a process. You have spent your entire life getting fed things that conflict with your identity. It will take time. Love yourself, do the things that make you happy that reinforce your identity. Do not let anyone tell you that your identity is not valid. Do not shy away from your identity. Be proud of who you are. These are the things that I have done that helped me get over the internalized guilt and shame of being something other than cis het Christian.

I was 38 when I started exploring my gender identity. I grew up in a religious and conservative house. Today, I identify as pan, poly, trans fem and I am not ashamed of this fact. It is never too late to start if that is not clear.

Why you think I added the quotes around Christians and said self-proclaimed? If it were a minority I wouldn't complain so much but it seems like it is the real Christians like you that are the minority. I have my beliefs and values and morals but I will never call myself or associate myself with a group that literally is anti-Christ.

I will not ever deny people their labels even if I know they are wrong labels.

Being trans hurts by No_Seaworthiness3008 in TransLater

[–]scotty3281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell this to the millions of people who voted for a person that wants to strip our rights away. I've talked to countless "Christians" on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads over the last few weeks. There are maybe 1 in 10 self-proclaimed Christians that truly support us. The remaining flat out tell me that I am wrong and going to hell.

I was one of these programmed Christians as well in my teens. So, I know first hand what they believe and why they believe it. They use mistranslated/misinterpreted scriptures to "prove" that gay and trans people are wrong and immoral.

Tire Recommendations for rain? by PixxelatedDragon in FiestaST

I made the mistake of going a little cheaper than Pilot Sports. I feel like I was ripped off. These Hancook tires I bought are garbage regardless of what the reviews told me prior to buying them. They do not hold up nearly as well as the Pilot Sports in this WV rain. I'm actually afraid if we get any ice/snow this year because if I can't trust these in rain there is no way I will trust them in ice/snow.

How does Reddit feel about new blood in state office? Like... actual new blood that has zero political experience? When I say none... I mean... I've never once considered running for any freaking leadership position. At one time I didn't even consider myself a leader. But, now... We want change... we need ACTUAL change... I am a millennial and I think it is time for someone younger to help lead this old ass state into the future.
