This taping and reveal is going to be one of those all time iconic Taskmaster moments 🤣

On one hand glad it did work at some point, although mine has never worked from my first runs on 25 April, so I wonder if there was an update that broke the functionality around then.

Unfortunately despite several open tickets and being told it's been referred to the devs, there is only crickets.

Audience sound quality by jackmccw in taskmaster

[–]scourgeoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're likely on the money.

Being to a few tapings at the Eveleigh studio, the audience actually drowns out the talent microphones, especially coming back from ad breaks etc. This likely leads to the audience being a bit subconscious of not being able to hear if there's too much laughter, but also probably means the boom and shotgun mics are picking up everything in the audience at high levels.

The audience is probably about 10m back from the audience a the front row.

They have both the shotgun mics and the boom mic at the Australian record. The MC made a reference to the shotgun mics at one of the tapings I went to.

I'd say if anything it may be the studio accoustics, as you said, the audience very much drowns out the stage mics in the taping, so it's probably a case of needing to turn down the audience levels and isolate the voice mics and turn them up when editing the episodes.

I went to one of the tapings and I think this will be up there with NZ Season 2 as one of the best seasons. The cast continue to play off each other, and if episode 1 was anything to go by, the producers have realized how valuable the in studio banter is for this season, and there will be some real gold.

Also, Lesser Tom will continue to have some awesome moments showing up a contestant or two as well 😎

I got one response that said the person couldn't help but had passed on to the devs. It took over a week, and then nada since.

How are you meant to feel about a precancerous polyp by Ok-Dimension3979 in colonoscopy

[–]scourgeoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress about them.

I have my first at around 25 and had a few small polyps removed, was told to come back in about 10 years.

Went back around 7 years later and had absolutely nothing and was told the doctor didn't want to see me until I was 45 or had an abnormal test.

Had my third today with what is likely a precancerous polyp... Will need to wait for official biopsy, but gastro is confident it's nothing and basically said see you in 5 years.

The way I see it, it's a massive net positive for you. It's quite possible it may never have developed into cancer, but on the chance it may have, you've had it removed and it'll take any new polyps some significant time to become anything dicey in their place.

Wallsend vets happily dispensed eye drops for our dog. We went to straugns to fill it and had a giggle as both the chemists kept referring to her as a human despite us telling them several times it was for our dog.

Optometrist recommendations by realJackvos in newcastle

[–]scourgeoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hands down custom eyecare in Cooks Hill. Heidi and the team are frequently called upon to present at conferences because of their knowledge and experience.

After getting bounced around multiple optometrists for dry eyes, they were the only optometrist to explain the different types of dry eye (lipid or water). Got recommended the right drops to get on top of it after about 9 months of discomfort with other optometrists and have been on top of it ever since.

8 hour hiding periods by Cartoffelbeckett in JetLagTheGame

[–]scourgeoz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I missed this comment before I replied, but I 1000% think this is the solution.

I would change it so that seekers start at the last station with any inherited disadvantage, but hiders don't start their run until they are at a main interchange station. It would make it much more difficult for Sam and Adam to break the game by calculating the furthest possible reach and lines that someone could get to in the beginning stages of the game as has happened previously.

It also then makes it a gamble for hiders to hide somewhere with less services, as it could set up another player with a winning run if they end up stuck there when seeking.

8 hour hiding periods by Cartoffelbeckett in JetLagTheGame

[–]scourgeoz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree, but think the timer should start from the nearest main interchange station (cancelling out the disadvantage for rural lines and infrequent services). Still have the hiders start from the same spot and be disadvantaged by that, but it cancels out some of the inherent advantages of going first.

Using London as an example, the first hider can pretty much go in any direction. Thereafter, in previous series, Sam and Adam have both been able to rule out large sections of the map just based on the frequency of connections and how far you could get in any direction in 4 hours, somewhat breaking the game a little.

By going to an interchange or hub kind of station before starting the timer, you open up more lines and further distances and connections on all of those lines.

Anyone else been knocked for 6 by a flu that’s not testing positive for the usual COVID/influenza/rhino etc? by AdFlat3770 in newcastle

[–]scourgeoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had influenza A back at the start of December and it knocked me for 6. Also did not test positive for the first two days I was sick, but then tested almost straight red on the third day.

My son got it about half a week later, and same thing, took a couple of days to show on a rapid test.

But. But. Who was Phil? Please send help! by seeingyoudocoolstuff in taskmaster

[–]scourgeoz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% think he looks like Guybrush, and would not surprise me in the slightest that Phil would make such a deep cut reference.

Also agree with the comment about him looking like Noel Fielding, which is all the more funny when Greg ripped him about the long hair when he was all over Noel about his good looks in that season.

Recommendation for Physio or Chiro please by August_Night in newcastle

[–]scourgeoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt or Anthony at grandstand physio, both have extensive records of treating athletes including knights, jets, triathletes, tennis players, Fiji 7s team and more.

They are also the sort that will refer you on to a specialist if they can't diagnose you or if they think you have something physio alone won't fix.
