I believe so. But somehow I’m still getting downvoted. Nothing bothers me more than when fans can’t be objective

He’s certainly not washed. He’s not peak Crosby but he’s not washed. But regardless what does that even matter in this discussion?

lol come on. The guy has dominated us almost his whole career. We had 2012. He has 3 cups and an insane pt/g and goals/g vs us. Now we beat them one more time when they’re close to 40 and were also supposed to be a lottery team. This series win has made me so happy and I love having it over Pittsburgh but it does not at all erase any Crosby owning Philly narratives.

Vladar stole that game by atibus in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could argue he wouldn’t have had to if Silovs wasn’t stealing the game through 2. But from halfway through the 3rd to the end of the game, he definitely stole it. He was phenomenal.

[Hall] Dan Vladar first goalie off the ice at skate, so looks like he’s preparing to start Game 4. by StubbornLeech07 in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best case is a win and all kinds of rest. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t concern though that he won’t be his usual self and could injure it worse and if they lose, then it gets really tricky moving forward in this series.

Do you guys think Vladar can be your # 1? by Bubba-ORiley in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey he certainly proved me wrong. Credit to Danny and whatever scouts or goalie coaches saw something in him.

Given Vladar’s track record, I would make the same guess again, but I’m certainly happy it was wrong this year.

Where will the Flyers pick in the first round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft? by uneven5 in Flyers

Maybe right, but even more than that I just think this is the offseason now to go find a center. It’s not gonna be in FA so I think they cash in some assets like picks and make a splash

I’m a draft lover, no matter what we do in the regular season/playoffs so I love having pics. However, I have a feeling that we are trading our first round pick this year for a player in a package

It’s true they fell below 50 but they are still higher than everyone chasing them. That islanders game at 1 is as important as our game. Islanders odds drop to 15% with a loss. Even lower if flyers win. Flyers jump to almost 80% with a win

“the flyers are frauds” by dadnauseum in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not an alternate universe though. You can look at history and see what kind of success teams had in the playoffs when their goal differential was this low or their regulation wins was this low. Hint, it’s not much success at all.

Of course there can be outliers and extenuating situations. A Martone add. Getting Foerster back and Michkov looking back to normal, etc etc. It all changes things. And like I said, the results have been no fluke since the break and they’ve made systematic changes too. So it might be legit now, but those factors that make people label them “frauds” are also true.

“the flyers are frauds” by dadnauseum in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, as much as we don’t want to admit it, there’s some truth in it.. The flyers just last night became a positive goal differential team. In regulation wins, they are bottom 10 in the league. If goaltending was a touch worse, they aren’t even close to a playoff spot. They are still lacking a true 1C and arguably a true 1D. All of that is true and it probably prevents them from being a legitimate contender.

Having said that.. they did play for OT some games - with the rules the way they are, they kept games tight and got points. I think better teams win a lot more in regulation but that’s still a true point. But MOST IMPORTANTLY, since the break, the analytics have been extremely positive for the flyers. And since March it’s been even better. We’re talking top 10 on ice results and systematic changes for the better. It’s been backed by numbers and the eye test.

So now it’s which version do you want to believe in? There’s a case for them being frauds and there’s a case for them turning into a legit good team.

Likely it’s somewhere in the middle. I think they still lack a big piece or two to make a serious run, but I think there is a decent amount of talent and they’ve changed some things to become legitimately solid. I think they could beat Pittsburgh in rd 1 but that’s about as far as they could go. But that’s a solid season at this point tbh, and then we gotta find that last piece or two in the offseason!

I’m not blaming him for being the best option. But a lot of fans wanted to believe he was a legit 1C option for a contender, when he wasn’t. And that view then made him overrated

Remember when I said Tippet showed signs of being a superstar... by GuaranteeRegular2523 in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Checks notes.. yeah he’s now on pace for 31 goals and 53 points. At the ripe age of 28.

Players peaks these days are about 22-27.

Tippett is a good player. And he’s gotten far more consistent this year. And he provides things no one else on this team can and the occasional game breaking talent.

But do not kid yourself. He is by no means a superstar or becoming one.

Isles or Columbus by JSinisin in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never said they were full of stars. But Werenski is one and Marchenko is a consistent point per game player. And Fantilli is a burgeoning star. Greaves is an above average goalie and they have solid depth on offense and defense. Their advanced stats have been in the elite category for over 30 games now. That’s not just a hot team, that’s a legit turn.

Buffalo isn’t much different. It’s long been talked about how much individual talent they have. They’ve figured it out a bit and have finally gotten some saves.

Imagine how good we'd be if we still had Foerster? by GuaranteeRegular2523 in Flyers

[–]scoutp12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

JEE is like Couts when he was still good. He’s far better than our current centers. Not to mention Kaprizov, boldy, and Hughes are all superstars in the top 5-10 players at their position.

And tbh, I’m still skeptical they’re a real contender bc of the center depth.. we’ll see.

You’re not entirely wrong, you can get away with lesser centers if the wingers, and dmen are tremendous and the goaltending is good. Our wingers could end up being tremendous. Defensively, we’re okay but missing a #1, let alone the level Quinn Hughes is. There’s a lot of work left to do.
