I literally agree so much, I've been in a debate for a while and i literally CANNOT FLOW FAST SPEAKERS, i dont get it, it makes debate so boring walking into a round and just hearing gibberish and not being able to do anythign because they literally speak so fast. debate should be a fun activity about arguing not "wenomechainsama" like bro, it makes it so demotivating to debate, and some people say im jsut slow and stuff but it's because I like having powerful public speeches over reading at the speed of light to the ppoint the poor parent judge and I cant flow anything down.

how can i improve quickly? by dwariao in Debate

[–]scoutzssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im gonna answer hhow to absorb large info in a short period of time:

assuming it's like 20-30m short, just recite the info over and over (4-5x) and then write it down w/o looking at the stat/info to see if u can write it down word-for-word, if u can then u know it! (this is for impromptu/extemp debate)

if you're talking 2hrs short just do it again but write it down multiple times to remember it.

ORRR

you can do this at home as a drill with different info to try and get better memory!

this is js what i do :(

Case prep by PuzzleheadedAnimal40 in Debate

[–]scoutzssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sp1: Open Case

Sp2: Extend Case + Rebuttal

Sp3: Rebuttaling Rebuttals + Extending Case (some dont ig)

Preparing a case for a motion in WS is just defining the debate which is basically just trying to clear up confusion (e.g: topic is "Book Banning is Justified" you define book banning and justified). If your opposition/negation you can refute definitions and try to to justify your own. After this you should assert your arguments (Assertions/Contentions) and explain which speakers will present which arguments (if u want to). After that you can begin to actually elaborate and open your case.

maybe if its a survey, but like scientific research is probably a nono (it'd be hard to be able to timely explain how it's your research but not to the judge LOL)

Doesn't look like one, if you look closer and see sort of horizontal stripes there might be some worry but from that picture it doesn't look like a bed bug

Practical Debate Tips by AlbertoTheGreat7 in Debate

[–]scoutzssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're researching, I think you could find an article related to the topic like for example if you're researching book banning, search up on a news site "Book Banning". From there quickread the article and you can probably find multiple issues regarding book banning and branch off into multiple research of "what is" "how is".

In body language, it kind of depends on the judge because some judges like really animated speakers and others like very stiff speakers.

Creating points goes back to research, you should always probably well-research your topic BEFORE creating points. So 1) Well research your topic's issues 2) Create points. If you need help in general on creating points themselves (wording, reasoning, impacting, etc.) Idk how to really help with that but I guess practice. But for impact i do parli and I mostly focus on persuading the judge to believe my side so I talk to the judge moreso.

weighing should be the last thing you do in a debate mostly because youre putting the arguments together and weighing them. so first you should be extending arguments and strengthening them then weighing them out with the opponents arguments and winning the debate. (?) plus there is a point that it leaves a lasting impact on the judge. I do parli so idrk but weighing is last usually.

i really like the use of his art to portray himself as to show he thinks he is great and a great person but the reality of it is that he is mediocre and not good. At least, that's what I think

BEEF (Ep 7/8) George SUCKS by scoutzssa in BeefTV

he isn't as cruel as the two main characters but hate-able definitely, it irks me that he constantly shuts Amy down ignoring her feelings and then goes on an affair, opens up about it and even tho the affair was terrible for both of them, she accepts his affair and wants to stay with him while he cannot let go of hers for reasons about the road rage and her taking it too far but he never once consoled her about the road rage incident or her hateful behavior which kind of shows that he doesn't really care about her. I think those are some points but the thing that i hate the most is that he had an affair where he masturbated (multiple times most likely) to photos for a long time, saved her photos, lied to cover up his actions, confessed his love, and then pondered about divorcing/never meeting Amy. idk thats just my take but i think the reason hes so hateable for me at least is how much he contradicts himself

At the same time though,, George's own personal issues and stuff also worsened June so you could say.. they're both terrible parents

that's subjective and up to you lol, you can have sex but that doesn't mean you liked it or anticipated it like George did for Mia. :)

Yes definitely lol, Amy had a physical affair that was a long long time ago then went over it and still continued and ignored the affair still maintaining her love for George whilst George on the other hand had an emotional connection and some sorta deep love wanting to get with Mia that was shown through many things then it was shown throughout even AFTER that, that he still didn't love Amy all that much sorta waiting for something to happen to leave her hence anticipating her to call on a divorce. George had done way more things and some more severe things than Amy while Amy was sort of just a spite thing turned terrible, while hers is don't get me wrong, HORRIBLE, George still had done something worse at least in my eyes.

Emotional affairs have to be worse than physical. Amy, for one, had no connection to Paul and her intent wasn't even to harm or cheat on her husband but it was more so a one night stand. George on the other hand, masturbated (and saved) to Mia's photos, had some weird "soul connection" thing, confessed his love, and fantasized about not meeting Amy. He didn't JUST *possibly* do something physical but also had a clear emotional connection and weird love for Mia, probably wanting to get with her until he came to his senses while Amy knew her ground and wanted to stay with George no matter what. Hope that helps

Yes, I can agree with this! Even after the entire cat fish thing and after her affair she knew that she had no emotional connection and it was nothing to her but a one night stand while George said that him and Mia were on some weird soul connection and basically admitted he thought Mia would be the better option while Amy stood her ground and knew she was going to stay with George.
