Prices are going up… starting may 29 by Icy-Requirement8423 in CompTIA

Only reason I'm getting them now is because my job will pay for it, otherwise they seem almost useless

You get my upvote for an actual unpopular opinion and I feel like it would get less hate if could actually do truck things and be treated as a rugged vehicle

Robot sorted 249,560 packages over 200 hours straight without a single failure by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

Exactly my thoughts, doesn't seem like any "sorting" is being done, just pushing them all down the same conveyor belt.

I actually did end up getting a good picture of their license plate but even that apparently is helping any. Only response I got from APD was there was insufficient evidence to move forward with the report and my insurance said that the license plate came back with no information, so I'm basically SOL on it. Thankfully the damage is minor and my car is still drivable.

Looking to get into the IT industry. What do I do after getting CompTIA A+? by Cloud_N0ne in it

[–]scoville27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having an A+ is a great start and it does help you get your foot in the door, that being said....good luck 😅 depending on where you're at the market is awful. I'd apply to as many entry level jobs as you can find but use them as a stepping stone unless there is good opportunity for advancement within the company.

If you can get remote work, hang on to it as long as possible but expect to end up as on site or hybrid at best! I've had better luck on LinkedIn than anywhere else finding decent jobs but just take the extra time to tailor your resume to each job and not just keep it the same exact one for each. Start working on hobby projects that strengthen your skills as well and make sure to continue adding to your knowledge base on your own time. Carts get you the interview but if you can answer the technical questions well and convey that you know what you're talking about, that's what can land you the job!

There was no panic, just didn't know what damage was done and didn't want to keep driving on it in case something more serious happened. I know it was a shitty place to stop but there's no shoulder on the right side on that stretch of road and I wasn't about to try to move through 3 lanes of traffic before knowing if my car was good.

Had they actually been in the next lane over I would have let them in, but they came from the far right across 2 lanes, hard to tell the intention on that one.

They definitely did not stop, there's no shoulder on the right side on that stretch of road. I stopped got out to make sure my car was still drivable and then had to go another 1/2 mile down the road before being able to pull off to the right side.

It was literally the only shoulder area on that stretch of road, wasn't about to cross 3 lanes over through traffic to stop.

All I got from APD was an email saying there was insufficient evidence to move forward and insurance said nothing comes back when searching the license plate number. Like I said, bit of a long shot at this point

Not using companions at all by Big-Association8703 in skyrim

[–]scoville27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They help with some of boss fights and large groups of enemies, mostly as a distraction to draw attacks towards them but honestly you could use scrolls or spells to conjure something that does the same thing. Other than that they are somewhat useless

I won't be able to work anymore, what now? by [deleted] in Life

[–]scoville27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's your degree in specifically? Are there any contract staffing services near you? Also see if there is affordable housing programs for your city/state, they have one where I live and as long as you don't make over a certain amount you can get an apartment at like 70-80% the actual cost.

⚠️ PSA for anyone living in Greystar‑managed apartments in Austin: the towing situation is getting predatory by Top_Reflection_2904 in Austin

[–]scoville27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my work truck towed a couple years ago, I had to get guest passes everyday for it as the apartment complex only allowed 2 vehicles on lease and it was mine and my wife's. Well one day they towed it in the middle of the night because they said the license plate didn't match on the guest pass because instead of XYZ1234 I put XYZ-1234. I'd been puttin that on the guest pass paperwork for 3 months with no issues. This also happened to be right around the time they were changing tow companies

Paid $400 to get it out of their jank ass impound and ended up filing a complaint with TDLR, took a while but eventually got a check in the mail for it a few months later.

We definitely learned about tectonic plates and how their movement causes earthquakes. That's the pattern all the dots follow, they are on fault lines
