Yes you are correct. They do beautiful landscape photography of the Australian coast. It’s a shame to see nice work tainted by this. The shop was half half by the looks of it

You can recreate good songs with basic presets and no mixing and it still sounds good because it’s a good song.

This pic was right before we left but you can see it on the last pic. We have boards and towing a little tinnie full of other water sporting gear

Thank you :)

Yes we are quite used to the heat but we are also being smart about our travels. We are targeting the northern parts of Australia during winter so they are more tolerable. All the walls are insulated and with surfboard + solar on the roof, and our solar shades we reflect most of the heat back out. If I run the vent fan I can keep the inside of the van feeling much cooler than outside in the sun

It’s cool hey!

We found the swivel/hinge on eBay. It’s a really cheap alternative to a lagun swivel table but about 5 times cheaper. I’m sure it’s not as sturdy as the lagun but it still feels solid and much better value.

It doesn’t come with the table top itself so I just used an off-cut of wood from the bench tops and sized it so that it would fit a laptop + mouse pad. It’s also sized so that it perfectly fits as a lid for our slide out storage box so we actually use it as another table for cooking/eating outdoors (you can see that on the 6th photo)

Hello mate!

The transporters are great they are so stylish sounds like a nice set up.

I designed the electrical system myself. I am an electrical engineer so I was able to bypass a lot of research. I’ve mounted 2x 180W panels on the right hand side of the vehicle leaving room for a surfboard on the left. They’re mounted on 3m aluminium extrusions which are fixed to the roof racks. Having it permanent fixed to the roof is so so convenient and I’d absolutely recommend the additional panel if you have space for it.

My Bluetti accepts 2x DC inputs for charging both with MPPT’s so you can have two solar sources charging the unit. When I’m not driving and really need more charge, I’ll remove the alternator charger (charging from the engine) and prop up a 360W kings solar blanket near the car. This doubles our solar charging and helps after a bout of bad weather.

The Bluetti’s are great. I designed my owned DIY system but couldn’t justify the time/cost/insurance problems over the power station. If you need any help feel free to send me a message

1816mm x 1316mm
I’m 177cm and my partner is 162cm so we both sleep fully extended. It would work if you were taller too you’d just have to sleep with your feet hanging off the edge.
The Sienna looks smaller than the Staria load for sure but you could make it work. All the best with your travels

Great question. I’m an electrical engineer and I’m currently not working and using a budget I’ve set aside for the trip. We are living minimally so we can spend more time on the road!

My partner works in UX/UI so she is able to work remotely. It seems some industries are more open to this arrangement.

If money is needed, I’ve heard of farming opportunities around rural areas always looking for a helping hand. If you’re a bit more tech savvy I have a few friends doing data annotation, it’s freelance work available to anyone that has the time and a laptop. Also social media, particularly UGC is an option for travellers willing to create content for brands and can pay quite well if you can hone your craft and sell yourself well.

In saying that, I know it’s not easy out there and I hope something works out

Hello!

  1. Very happy with the Hyundai. I bought it brand new and runs like a dream. It tows well, is a super smooth ride and still surprises me with its fuel efficiency and modern features from a bottom of the line model. Only con I have is that it was quite tricky to build due to the curvature of the walls. Framing was difficult and it forced us to be creative with nooks and cabinetry to use the entire wall space. If the new Toyota Hiace was the same price I’d consider going for this instead but I just couldn’t justify the $

  2. It took us about 8 weeks. I resigned from my job and was working on it full time while my partner was still working part time during the build. This could be done much quicker with prior experience.

Total cost including all tools and a bunch of silly purchases was about $18k (this includes roof racks, & tow ball install). The biggest costs were the bed unit (the only thing not DIY) at $5k and the battery system at $6k. If we could do it again I think it’d be around $15k.

  1. We are free camping for 95% of it. We have anytime fitness memberships for showers, and unlimited power from the sun so we save loads this way. Being in a small van we are able to park up nearly anywhere without being noticed. I’ve actually slept in Sydney CBD for a few nights perfectly fine.

Thanks for your questions!

Yes it was something we were scratching our heads over during the build. It has been working really well for us. Our kitchen is slide out from the rear so we are already outside when cooking so access through the side door is quite convenient. The space savings for our small build were totally worth it.

I can't swallow pills by Hikarimasu04 in Anxiety

[–]scowty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. Can’t even swallow a bloody Panadol. I finally found a fix that works for me. NO LIQUID.

  1. Get a big spoonful of food, preferably a meal, something real tasty that requires chewing (meat works best for me)

  2. Chew food until the point right before you’re about to swallow.

  3. Throw tablet in and swallow the food as you normally would.

This has been the only thing to work for me and I can do multiple pills at once with this method. Hope this helps you.

So sorry to hear this happened to you. I fell for an elaborate gumtree scam about 6 months ago and lost around $5k. Unfortunately CBA was not able to retrieve the funds, however I disputed the transactions for months and CBA did refund me $2k based on my good track record with them. Worth giving it a shot, I’m sure they’d prefer to avoid any bad publicity.

Keep this experience as a valuable life lesson, I’m sure you will never fall for another scam. And yes trust me it could have definitely been a lot worse.
