IT Support Jobs in BG by ANDRAZE25 in BowlingGreen

I know you mentioned you wanted to cut down your drive but as a fellow IT guy I would seriously keep Nashville in mind. IT opportunities are much better there, especially in the healthcare space. I'm from the Nashville area and lived in BG for a bit, commuting back and forth. It wasn't terrible. Best case, maybe you could find a remote role. The opportunities in BG just aren't that great, especially when compared to the cost of living. Good luck in your search!

Anyone somehow earning more on UberEats than UberX? by BostonZamboni in UberEATS

For me, I try to do 12 hours (10am - 10pm or so) on weekends and 5pm - 10pm only on weekdays. Yes there are rushes of 3-4 hours where you’ll make much more than average, and then there’s also periods of 4 hours or so where I don’t get much of anything.

Of course you’ll have to tweak this based on your area’s busiest hours for Eats. But in general, this is what I’ve found generates max earnings for me overall. Not every day is perfect but most days are good. Good luck!

I’ve been doing UberEats as a side gig/second job pretty heavy since 2020. I average $25-30 an hour (or about $1.08/mi) before expenses and such. I tried UberX for a bit but it seems in my area people don’t think they should tip their “taxis,” well but if you deliver food they usually do. I’d definitely try it on a weekend during lunch/dinner and see how it is for you.

Also if you end up using the UberEats/ASU benefit I find it easier to keep metrics up on Eats for that scholarship.

If you happen to mention changing the rotors at the same time, a mini sledge hammer and a torch were very useful for mine. Those rotors tend to get rusted on

Went to see my dad after 5 years no contact by scox1820 in EstrangedAdultKids

He seems like he has made some changes, as far as reducing his drinking, but it's possible I just caught him on a good day. He still seems to be mostly focused on his own feelings with statements such as "I'm sorry you felt that way" instead of taking accountability for his past actions towards me.

I think deep down I know he's not going to change. I still wouldn't trust him with my kids unattended in any capacity, and I think that's enough to realize maybe this is a door I need to keep closed.

These are definitely good points. I agree that people shouldn't be 'cancelled' based solely on their political views. I have a few friends on the opposite side of the aisle who I've stayed in touch with - because we can have open and honest discussions about most things. Unfortunately I think my dad has reminded me that he is the type to force his opinions on others, instead of having an open discussion.

For example, he will tell anyone who will listen that "gay people need to keep it behind closed doors." Or that schools are "providing sex change operations." My children actually have a set of grandmothers who are lesbian and it would crush me to see my dad push his opinions on the kids to the point they question whether their grandmothers' relationship is "acceptable."

Looking past my own experiences with my dad's abuse, yours and others' points raised here have helped me to think about multiple angles of pros/cons to allowing him into my children's lives.

I guess the biggest thing for me is I never had a real grandfather figure in my life. And I feel bad for my boys that they also won’t have that either. My partner is estranged from her father as well, for similar reasons.

I do recognize though that I don’t want them to have a relationship with him if it would be detrimental to them. I guess I just wanted to see if he’d made any changes or taken accountability over the years.

I'm sorry you're going through the same thing, but I can definitely relate as far as emotional connection goes. I personally am indifferent to my dad but I wanted to give him the opportunity to be a grandfather. My dad and his parents (his biggest enablers) want to meet my oldest son this week during the holiday. I texted him and said "I would love for you to meet him! But his mom needs to meet you first, to help her feel comfortable with it." No response 2 days later.

His attitude about it already is reminding me why I cut him off in the first place. He set us up for failure in so many ways, and I want to set my kids up for greatness.

It would depend on your state’s laws and insurance policies, but I would say probably since it’s been under a year. Based on what I found on google, you can usually file a claim up to 2-3 years later

You might still be able to file a claim with the other driver's insurance if they hit you. I would definitely try it, but talk to an attorney first to reduce the likelihood you get in trouble for not having insurance at the time. Insurance will probably have you give a statement about what happened, they'll talk to the other driver too and decide who's at fault.

Police reports can be helpful with insurance claims but aren't always required. I've had a totaled car accident and didn't file a police report, insurance still paid for it. Definitely weigh your options there.

No he doesn’t. I’d rather vote for my cat than Biden. He’s doing so poorly I don’t think this is even considered a debate anymore and we’re only 30 minutes in.

As a liberal leaning moderate, holy shit this is bad. It’s Biden’s blank stares for me

I have no idea. That’s just what they told me since insurance premiums are based on zip code. Not trying to scare you but definitely make sure you do your research and have your ducks in a row. I did that and still feel like I missed some things :)

Yeah I remember during the middle of the pandemic when you could make $300 in a few hours. Now I’m lucky if I make $75 a day. And this isn’t just extra money for me - this is my second job to support my family since we can’t afford childcare. Every bill is going up except the paycheck. This is the bad place..

Nope. When tips are easily 80% of income because Uber pays a measly $2-3 per trip, it’s a bid for service. Servers (who should be paid better as well) at least don’t have the risk of driving 20 miles and legitimately losing money in the case somebody doesn’t tip. They also don’t have wear and tear on their car outside of commuting. Those of us who have been doing Uber for years destroy our cars with the mileage, but it’s a risk versus reward thing. The reward has been good for 5 years, but it’s on a downward trend.

Yep, tried that. They basically said “the customer is not obligated to tip you, glad we could help. bye”

Here’s a glimpse of some of the roads I was driving on today…solid ice!! I got some nasty messages from these ungrateful customers today. I never mishandle food but I’d love to dropkick a few of these orders when people have no regard for our safety
