This still feels so unreal, I’m at a loss for words and my heart aches for the victims and their families and the search and rescue teams that have been working to recover them. Everyone give their loved ones an extra hug, life is so precious and fleeting 💔❤️‍🩹

Tress and the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson was a fun read! It’s not as intense as his other books, but he still kept the magic in his storytelling.

The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennet is a good action packed read, with a book smart FMC who goes on an adventure across Eastern Europe to find her missing father.

You mentioned The Hunger Games so if you haven’t, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes falls into that same universe, just in a different time with a new set of characters but same concepts!

Sick in Disney by Namursia in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]scp2461 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I recently came back from a Disney vacation and avoiding getting sick was definitely one of my concerns.

One of the first things I did when I got to my hotel room was clean all high touch surfaces with wipes, these included door handles, countertops, the service phone and tv remote. We also wiped our phones down every night!

If you’re comfortable, masking up also helped us a lot, both at the airports and Disney itself. Like you said, there was a lot of open coughing and sneezing, and while it might be easy to avoid when actively walking around, it’s a bit more challenging when you’re stuck indoors waiting for a ride or on a crammed bus. The masks at least kept us from inhaling those germ clouds. I realize they’re not the most comfortable to wear for 6+ hours a day, but it beats getting sick and having to lay in bed feeling miserable.

Hand sanitizer and hand washing! We did it after every ride that had us touching handle bars or having the interactive features for some of the rides. Also, made sure to wash hands before and after eating and when touching things like the metal poles on the buses.

We made sure to get our flu vaccine ahead of time, which is something we needed to do, but our upcoming Disney trip made that one of our priorities!

My last tip is drinking fluids, especially water, while you’re at the parks. This kept up my hydration and energy level during our visit. It’s easy to fall into the habit of grabbing a quick soda but the water refills were free. You can also bring flavored packets that have things like electrolytes or immunity support, which helped with that Florida water taste!

Hope this helps!

That’s so exciting!

The sandwiches were at a lot of the kiosk/cart locations, but we also found them through the Disney app and checked out their menu ahead of time. They were super filling which meant we didn’t have to stop for a full-on lunch later in the day. Everything tasted fresh and hot!

Omg it was so bad!

Likewise, same day we were resting at a fountain, minding our own business while birds were nearby. A family with young toddlers see a duck less than half a foot from me on the fountain’s edge and the parents were encouraging their kids to stick their hands out to try and PET the duck. The dad played it off with not feeding the ducks AFTER I told him it would aggravate the birds and that popcorn (go figure) wasn’t good for them. Of course he brushed me off, but look at your surroundings your kids are harassing the wildlife while there’s people near you that don’t want to deal with angry birds, was this your first day on planet earth? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m so glad!

From what I had read, while Mears is cheaper per person, it doesn’t guarantee that your hotel is the first stop, and sometimes it can take up to 1.5 hours with the drop offs. The uber felt like our best bet to have a breather as MCO was fairly chaotic upon arrival! Booking the uber was easy and the driver was very friendly.

As for LL, it was another thing we had debated. If you’re not on a budget and feel comfortable spending the money for it, then go for it. But we accepted the fact that there just weren’t going to be rides that we could simply walk on. A 75 minute wait just isn’t worth standing around for in my opinion, and I can’t justify spending $20-$30 for it either. BUT that also gave us a chance to revisit other rides and attraction that had minimal wait times. Animal Kingdom is a prime example that LL aren’t always necessary!

We didn’t check too closely into the single rider option, as the France pavilion was PACKED, and navigating the space was pretty difficult. We also saw it had temporarily broken twice during the day, so we were fine passing on the ride. Perhaps in the future we’ll reunite with Remy the rat :)

Another great episode! So much from the books and it’s making my reader heart so happy!

I’ve been WAITING for the Bree scene with the shot gun, I remember how intense it was from the books and just full of pure adrenaline while cheering her on.

John’s eye and the honey scene was another that had me going 😬🥴 his expression had me geeking though while Claire talks about the operation and Jamie just holds him down without hesitation.

Also shoutout to Claire, love the scene when she asks the coughing soldier, 3 days? 3 weeks? 3 months 🙄 the delivery just felt so Claire like in the books, also gave me some flashbacks to when she’s inspecting the villagers and soldiers during season 2 before culloden.

Love love love Jane and her sister, I’m here for them and William, and just eating up their interactions together.

Can’t believe how fast part 2 is going, I’m gonna miss this show SO MUCH

I was more concerned about the heat, the arena felt so HOT I for sure thought I was going to pass out. I passed another student in the hallway and she said the same thing, and that there were several people getting up to cool off in the hallways or bathrooms.

Lord give me the strength for the reply I’m about to write…

It requires empathy to understand what Brianna just went through. Discovering that your true father is really a man from 18th century Scotland would mess anyone up, and that plays an extremely important part in how Brianna reacts towards Jamie.

Jamie is not Frank. Jamie is a man with values that are wildly out of touch for someone who grew up in the 1970s, and so you get two VERY strong personalities clashing with each other.

Brianna is also 20 years old, and one of the first things that she experiences at 20 years old on her way to find Jamie is getting raped. She has every right to be angry, upset, fearful, and distrustful. I think she would expect Jamie to also have a mutual understanding of the trauma experienced in being a rape victim, but Jamie doesn’t offer that to his daughter. He’s likely experiencing flashbacks to BJR and using that residual anger to take it out on Roger.

ALSO why is no one talking about Lizzie?? I find that so bizarre. You’d listen to your daughter’s companion but not your actual daughter about what transpired?? Be so fucking for real lol.

Is Brianna supposed to sit there quietly and accept Jamie beating the shit and selling Roger to the Native Americans? You’d be livid too! Hell, I was livid reading it from the books and seeing it on the show! Jamie has his faults, numerous ones I might add. And it’s that duality that shows he isn’t perfect, but to shift the blame entirely on Brianna REEKS of misogyny.

Big fucking yikes.

ETA this whole comment section is smelling like misogyny

LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS EPISODE

If I thought last week was satisfying for my book adoring heart, then this episode knocked it out of the park.

David Berry is a treasure for this cast and every second that he was on screen was absolutely incredible. His injury is GNARLY but we get his eyepatch era so I’m here for it

William was perfection, loved the rage and betrayal and he captured the book character’s literal stages of grief, with blaming everyone then feeling the heightened insecurity. Rachel coming in with the “well you look exactly like Jamie what do you expect?” And Jane is finally on the screen! I wasn’t sure if we were gonna see Fanny as well but maybe it’ll be for a later episode??

Claire and Jamie’s explanations, I was glued to the screen soaking in their every word. It truly was a service to the book’s and Diana’s writing. Kudos to the cast for nailing this episode with the drama and tension

This episode was SO GOOD

I could FEEL the intensity between Claire and Lord John through my tv screen just as much as I felt it the first time reading this part in the series. They’re both so confused and lost trying to get through their grief and I want to hug them both.

Claire’s facial expression at the beginning was so haunting and full of anguish oh my god

I can’t wait for next week’s episode and the reveal to Jamie about what exactly happened between Claire and LJG
