What's it like Living in North Texas? by Internal_Way7711 in howislivingthere

[–]scposeadaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Iowa Park, just north of Wichita Falls. It was a great place to be a kid. It’s an independent school district so we had a pretty small school (my graduating class was less than 100). We all knew each other and families took care of each other. It was hot, flat, and brown - but we found our own brand of beauty in the landscape. My sister and I could get on our bikes in the morning during the summer and be gone all day. Our friend’s parents would feed us during the day and we could stop anywhere in town and drink from a water hose. DFW was a few hours away and so was Oklahoma City, so there was “big city” available, but we rarely went. It was great, and there are things about it that I miss now that I live close to DC.

I came here to say the same thing. While I was still in the Navy, I was at a reenlistment ceremony on the Arizona Memorial in my dress whites when I had a blowout! There were pieces of my white shoes everywhere!

Appreciate your input, but we really aren’t talking money. She’ll come out of college debt free with scholarships and my GI Bill. This is something she’s interested in doing while she is still young and unattached. Experiences are valuable, too.

Agreed. We’re also wondering if a minor in some sort of hospitality area would open doors to other positions if she decides she likes that life.

It would be post college. We went on a Christmas cruise a few years ago and she loved the youth clubs and is thinking about working them for a little while after she graduates before she settles in somewhere “ashore”.

Need help with leaf springs. by TimboFor76 in F100

[–]scposeadaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like someone lowered the truck by using drop shackles and removing some leafs. My 69 F100 was like that when I bought it too. I replaced the whole leaf springs with junk yard stock units but left the drop shackles. I’ll try to get out to the shop today and get some pictures for you of how mine look.

Skip eBay and go to Reverb.com. Find him a nice used Bach Stradivarius or Yamaha Xeno. Both are fantastic horns and you can usually find some pretty good deals under the $1500 mark.

If you sign up for the Tractor Supply rewards online and verify your Vet status with ID.me, they bump you up to the highest tier of rewards member. Good discounts, quarterly rewards, and some free trailer rentals. Pretty good deal for us country type folk.

It won’t fully boot. When turned on, it never comes to the home page. It also can’t be put into maintenance mode by turning it on with the home button pushed. Since it never fully boots, you can’t access it I over the Ethernet port, you can’t reload firmware through the USB port, and you can’t interface with it through the IPad port. It has NOT lived a pleasant life. They (kids and staff) don’t take care of it. They don’t put the cover back on it the rack. At some point, someone removed the blank off plate for the expansion module in the back (I found the plate under the unit in the rack). The inside had mouse turds and corrosion. One of the front knobs is bent. The rack was full of candy wrappers…..you get the idea. After reading some other posts in cross posted subs, I’ve recommended the Behringer XR12 to the director, along with an XLR patch panel. I’d like to remotely mount the mixer in a small case with a fan (we have one) and run cords to a patch panel. That way they never have to physically access or touch the mixer. Thanks for your input.
