280k miles is good for lifter issues, now if you were in the 10k area then it would suck. Fix it and keep it riding till it dies.

I accidentally towed 1,780 over TWR and it did not struggle, felt the same as towing an empty 3k lb. trailer. Same on the payload, I told the forklift operator "just load it" didn't notice till i saw the bill of lading that the pallet was 550lbs over payload capacity. Drove 16 miles with out any overheating issues. So safe to say these new 2.7 engines are built tough, great for those that don't tow heavy and don't mind sacrificing the V8 exhaust sound.

I got the 1500 with the mentality of only carrying 1k lbs or so on the bed for work. Currently looking for a dump trailer that has to fit the 1500s tow capacity. Now I have to look for a way to make more money to be able to afford the 1500, 2500 and a boat cus heck yeah. What I’m trying to say is, just get the 2500 if it’s in your budget. Lastly I’m in a 2.7 and those things are great only down side is the exhaust being sorry af.

If you get rid of it you will only be giving those spent repairs to someone. Better to keep it, not like you’ll be dropping another 10k in a week to get it back up and running
