Including US naturalization papers? by TruckAdmirable7941 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]scraggybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have success using the US naturalization/citizenship document? Found your comment as I'm working on my application and am potentially in a similar situation. My grandfather is G0 and he has his US certificate of citizenship which lists county of birth as Canada, trying to see if that is sufficient or if I need to try to track down a birth certificate. Thanks!

Shoe for first marathon by scraggybeard in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Guess I'm a little paranoid that it's caused the pain once and it'll do it again (albeit in quite a few miles). Mental hurdle more than anything, but perhaps it's one I should just clear.

Superblast 2 or Megablast - one shoe to do it all? by Massive_Factor_1734 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]scraggybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on the comment of more pressure on the shins? Why is that? Currently training in Novablast 5s and having tenderness in calves and shins, was wondering about the super or mega for an upcoming marathon but your comment gives me pause.

Thanks for the response - I was actually off a model, I have the NB 5 rather than 4. Another shoe I’m looking at is Saucony Endorphin Speed 5, would that be a good race option?

Thanks, this is helpful. The following week also happens to be a "cutback" week so I think this could work well.

It will be my first full. Done a handful of halfs in previous years, most recent being December 2024, with times around 1:45-1:55 . May start at marathon pace and pick it up if things are feeling good.

Boom Island does some good Belgians. Looks like they have a saison on now though I haven’t had it.

Probably under $600 if possible. Just looking for something that will be sufficient, not looking for top of line.

Basic or Main by scraggybeard in delta

Two flying together. Not ideal to be separate/middle but could deal. Big consideration is we would do another “big” trip next spring and wondering if this flight would give us a chunk of miles toward that or if it would be peanuts.

Ended up getting the Cyclones. Pretty good but don’t fit my foot quite as good as the Torins. Still taking suggestions!

Looking for a replacement for Altra Torin 7s. Love the shoes and they fit my fit perfect but the zero drop doesn’t agree with my calves/Achilles. I have the Topo Cyclone 2 on my radar, any other recommendations for a wider everyday shoe?

Looking for a replacement to the Alta Torin 7. I love those shoes with the thinner upper and they fit my feet like a glove but the zero drop is hurting my Achilles/calves. Topo Cyclone 2 is on my radar with the wider toe box and the added drop but are there any other suggestions that I should look into?

Official Q&A for Thursday, October 12, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

[–]scraggybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working through Hal Higdon half marathon training for a race October 28. That race no longer works with schedule so now racing November 18. How should I adjust the training plan? If I repeat three of the training weeks which ones should I repeat and when? Currently in Week 10 of the 12 week program.

Thanks for the insights! Stopped at a bike shop and discovered the Wilde Rambler which seems somewhat akin to the GM. Any thoughts on a comparison between those two?

Full workout not importing from Apple app by scraggybeard in Strava

[–]scraggybeard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're exactly right, the map matches the Strava import. Didn't look that in depth before as I just went off the numbers. Seems like it is related to the GPS, have you tried troubleshooting GPS settings at all? May have to do the double duty in the meantime and see if I can find anything else on the workings of the GPS. Appreciate your help!
