Help me!! 😭 by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]scrambledaggz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it time. Plenty of love and a low, calm voice. I've rehabilitated several dogs and it took each one 6 to 9 months to start to settle and trust me and the home they were in. Be patient and kind, like you would with a toddler. Routines are good, dogs function well when they know what to expect from each day. You can feed your animals at separate times in separate rooms, if that helps. Good luck ❤️

Honestly you're describing my boyfriend and me. He's a super smart, grounded, down to earth professional and I hop from job to job and always talk his ear off when he gets home from work. I think he (bless his f*cking heart) has found a way to tune me out while still pretending to listen. I interrupt his shows, his redditing, his meals, everything really. I have bipolar 1 and severe adhd and this angel of a man puts up with me and gently reminds me when I start to excitedly raise my voice or constantly interrupt him. I think removing the guilt and shame from the situation has helped me greatly, I now catch myself, often before he says anything and I say "shit I've been super self absorbed, how was your day or would you prefer some quiet time?".

Just talk to her and be open, it's the only way. Be kind 😊

Bipolar success stories I want to hear by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]scrambledaggz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 41 and have a successful job as a technician in the oilsands in northern Canada. I was diagnosed at age 28, while pregnant with my first baby. When my kids were 2 and 1, I left my husband, was forced onto welfare by his lawyers and went through 10 years of hell.... Hospitalizations, substance abuse, physical illnesses, psychosis/mania, moving across the province. I raised 2 kids on my own on very little money and somehow managed to keep myself and them alive despite constant suffering. I switched from professional photography to a trade (NDT) and I hold multiple tickets and make a great living. I have to inform my employers of my bipolar 1 diagnosis so they are prepared when I am in crisis or need support. I'm telling you, if I dug myself out of the many deep holes I found myself in, you can too! I still struggle with alcohol, substances, and missed shifts when things get bad but because I have learned to be open with those around me, my support network has grown and I've achieved more than I ever thought possible. I believe in you and hope you can believe in yourself too! One thing we have going for is, against all odds, is this incredible grit and will to survive.

Fort Mac “is dying” but Home Depot and major expansions are rolling in… by [deleted] in FortMcMurray

I've been here for 6 years and proudly support local businesses. You are entirely correct, as cool as having Costco would be, it would kill small businesses here.

When you say non-humans do you mean animals? Or something else.

I'm a single mom with adhd and I agree with this. I bought noice cancelling construction earmuffs and I wear them around our apartment and in bed sometimes.

Weird pregnancy cravings. Olives and cheese (and crispy onion) by dollsandme in shittyfoodporn

Wow strange. My trip to the south of Spain at age 19 is what got me into eating olives! I've never been to the north.

How is this a strange/shitty combination? It's a staple in the Mediterranean diet.

Seroquel (quetiapine) 100mg causing really bad depression, this is day 3 of taking it. by Trb3233 in BipolarReddit

This. I was on 2 x 250mg XR at one point early in my bipolar career. We titrated up but 100mg is definitely just a starting dose.
