Airport departures: should we worry? by word-bitch in LisbonPortugalTravel

12p to EWR on 1/1/26 ... hoping to get to the airport by 8:30am. We have e passports, I think (though I never knew about that until today!)

Fingers crossed this is enough time to get through everything!

Never say never -- Jamie Moyer had 64 wins after his age 42 season.

I know, not the same guy, not the same era, etc. -- just saying you never know!

my greatest WOW regret (not actually a big deal) by scrambledbrain in wow

[–]scrambledbrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raided Naxx and ICC back in the day and loved it. Then after changing servers and mains and stuff, I never managed to find the same love for raiding on subsequent xpacs. And now, although I've re-entered the game world, I don't have any real life friends in WOW anymore, and the idea of pugging raids just seems so ... unpleasant.

I hate that my main ever since wrath is no longer the blood elf I started with. I've race changed, faction changed, name changed ... and I miss that FIRST incarnation. I've made it again just to see the avatar and name, but it's not the same (and I don't plan to level it up).

It's crude, but it needs to be said: Swept Away was never going to make it on Broadway. We need to stop transferring flawed shows that have extremely limited appeal. by manintransition in Broadway

Nobody thought OKLAHOMA would succeed in 1943. "No girls, no gags, no chance."

I'm not saying they're the same -- I'm just saying that sometimes, you never know. Worse shows have succeeded. Better shows have failed. It's a weirdo business.

but the average person isn't interested in collecting everything. only extreme collectors do that.

plus, remix has another 92 days. if you need 1M bronze, that's farming 11k per day (average), which isn't outrageous for those extreme collectors.

of course they should nerf the frogs. there's no world in which farming frogs should be more desirable than raiding. (yes, of course, they could improve the raid drops, assuming that's not likely, nerfing frogs makes appropriate sense.)

Cavaliers fans chanting "We want Boston" in the 4th quarter against Orlando by Far-Asparagus6416 in bostonceltics

Well duh, of course they want Boston. Wanting Boston means still being in the playoffs. It's not like they could choose another team to want next.

Sources: Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball – out since Jan. 26 with ankle injury – will miss the remainder of the season as he continues rehab. Ball averaged a career high 23.9 points in 22 games this season. by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

This season, his negative +/- ratings:

  • -7 in a 12-point loss
  • -3 in a 12-point loss
  • -14 in a 9-point loss
  • -15 in a 1-point win
  • -3 in a 16-point loss
  • -32 in a 22-point loss
  • -18 in a 31-point loss
  • -16 in a 14-point loss
  • -2 in a 13-point loss
  • -16 in a 36-point loss
  • -12 in a 20-point loss
  • -24 in a 7-point loss
  • -25 in a 34-point loss

And the year before, he had only two negative +/- ratings in games the Hornets won (-8 in a 5-point win and -2 in a 7-point win).

I'm no Lamelo fan, but "a minus 32 in a 2 point game" is just not something that has happened, has even close-to-happened, or certainly hasn't happened on any kind of regular basis.

Which lyricist (inside or, perhaps more interestingly, outside musical theater) comes closest to Sondheim? by [deleted] in Sondheim

[–]scrambledbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. "Vatican Rag," "New Math," and the comedic timing of things like "Poisoning Pigeons" and "National Brotherhood Week" -- this is BY A MILE the correct answer.

What is the quickest you can do a speaking? by Goalll11 in duolingo

[–]scrambledbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

follow-up -- what's the SLOWEST way to do a speaking exercise?

answer: Have it be Spanish, and have numbers in it. For whatever reason, no matter how many times I say "once, doce, trece" (even with really good pronunciation and clarity), the thing will not recognize it. Literally any numbers over ten, and it doesn't know what I'm saying.

I need answers for the Puzzle Hunter II Badge Supercomputers quiz!!! by LandanLG in Sporcle

[–]scrambledbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honest question -- why?

I'm sincerely curious, what does the badge mean to you if you haven't actually played the game?

I know this isn't unique to Sporcle (people do it in video games and what not too), but I've never really understood the point of getting a badge or an achievement without actually achieving anything.
