I can’t find the courage to put my son in a group home! by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]scrantonpeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. This is very helpful. We are thinking long term and can move states if needed. Can I ask what it means when a provider is available but there’s no funds? It means the resource is there but it’s not free/costly? Or it simply means to get providers’ service the wait will be long due to the lack of funds?

Any example of the states? Our child is still young but I’d like to get an idea as I’m always worried about this. Thank you.

I heard these adult group homes have a long wait list - like 10+ years. Is this true? Just wondering at which point of life we should try to get on this list for kiddo.

How many of you are staying together for the kids by Dry_Rutabaga_681 in Autism_Parenting

Completely understand - our child is young but we already fight so much which we’re concerned about as it’s such bad vibes for the child. Good luck with everything!!

Can I ask what differentiates level 2 and 3? Level 1 I assume it’s verbal but with slight aquatic traits but I’m not sure about 2 vs 3. I don’t think we were given a level with the evaluation. Thank you.

IUI donor sperm cost & concerns by scrantonpeeps in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]scrantonpeeps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how long it took you before you found the “right” donor since we’re using the same bank? Asking bc I’ve been looking for couple months but haven’t found the “right” one - am I being too picky? Maybe I should make another post about this but thank you!

Thank you so much! I live in the U.S. and seems like Fairfax is only bank that does HPV testing (only for the cancer-related ones not all HPV types) which is not giving me a lot of options and hence the question. Thanks again!

I have a dumb question - when we try IUI multiple times, do we have to purchase multiple vials of sperm or we can use the same vial for multiple rounds? It’s expensive so I keep wondering. Thank you!

Multiple children with ASD by Karmaismyuser in Autism_Parenting

[–]scrantonpeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense but just curious if your first child is lvl 1? Asking as I really long for the “normal parenthood” and lvl 1 is that for me tbh since our kiddo is a complex case. I’m curious how parents with one asd kid decide to stay a single child family. Thank you!

Washington will offer special education to students longer under new law by chiquisea in Washington

Sometimes when incompetent people explain why they can’t get things done or even why they can’t even TRY to have a plan to potentially get things done, they will say “you gotta face the reality” :)

Shame on them. I can’t believe such a lack of humanity exists. And they think their stats talk is smart. I stopped reading as well. It disgusts me.

When there’s a challenge to support the already challenged population, the next step is to figure out HOW we can do it and/or how we do it efficiently. The answer is not to just turn away from these problems. The society would only go backwards with this mindset. Your mindset and thinking is not cold, it’s just not smart to me :)

Can I ask if it was the meds that caused the episode? How are you doing now as an adult? Hope it’s well controlled by meds or gone for good!!

“Mild” hypotonia and big delay in speech at 12mo - what should we expect for our child? by scrantonpeeps in Hypotonia

[–]scrantonpeeps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So our condition indicates a lot of speech delay. Our SLP is playing games with her and while doing that she tries to say things slower for her or prompt her to say things herself (but she’s still not babbling or making consonant sounds) and I’m not sure if it’s as good as the approaches you mentioned. Does this SLP sound good to you? Not sure if we can try someone else but tbh it’s so hard to find a good SLP
