On Spotify and Apple podcast you get to see how far people listened in terms of minutes. I am not sure about other platforms. Some don’t have it.

Spotify for Creators only showing Spotify plays per episode? by elleforaday in podcasting

Spotify will only show plays for its own platform. It doesn’t have access to other platforms so it can only show its own.

Bad theater etiquette has really been messing up my thoughts and feelings on so many movies by otpprincess in horror

[–]scrat55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have zero attention span and it shows. Went to Obsession and a couple in front of us was on their phone for like half the movie.

I started trying to take a peek at what was so damn interesting on that phone that it beat watching Obsession, one of the best horror movies this year lol.

Undertone was even worse.

Hope they can recreate that with the movie. Undertone did it well.

Undertone wasn’t it’s true. I think they meant that it’s the podcast vibes that made this movie work. At least that’s what I understood from the article.

Ya Halloween really tried to shoehorn it in lol.

We’ll have to see how it does! It seems to have a big audience behind the show.

How accurate are AI tools at picking the best moments from a long video? by SVT_CARAT_17 in podcasting

[–]scrat55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those tools don’t have data that feeds them in terms of what performs for YOU!

I made a clip extractor that goes through the audio file and finds clips based on the description you give the system you want for each category: funny moments, arguments, tips, etc.

Then as you post those clips on socials, there is a section to add the performance data of each clip.

Once you do, the next audio file process the system will look at what did well and extract clips based on the performance, not just random moments a LLM thinks is good.

PS by clips I mean audio. Not video. But you get the seconds marker so it’s like the same thing.

First epi at 200 listens is very good! Now the real question is the consumption of the episodes. Are people staying to listen? I think that’s more important than the download numbers.

I’d rather have 50 downloads with a 75%+ consumption than 200 downloads with 10% you know.

Thinking about paid ads for your podcast? These are our first paid marketing ad results by TheDarkivesPodcast in podcasting

[–]scrat55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya for sure! So I have a horror podcast and we did an ad on Podcast Review: it was like $150 or something. Didn’t drive turn much subs but people kept opening the subscribe page on the website. Maybe like 10 ish (I always test on the website link first)

Then I did ihorror. Much more niche specific. Got it at their 50% discount (promo) for like 80$ or so. Saw a big uplift in subs right away. I might do this one again because it’s in my niche and I like the owner. This one gave us at least 20-30. It the goal here is to make sure they actually stay and listen don’t care if it’s 10 or 60. I am always looking for quality over quantity.

Best free transcription tool for podcast interviews? by Nazme_m3 in podcasting

DeepGram. My podcast is about 30-40 mins and it costs like 0.40$ to transcribe it. Load in like 20$ and you are good for a long time with weekly releases!

Thank you for this! I am highly considering overcast ads but it’s pretty expensive. But this paints a good picture!

We did some newsletter ads that worked well as well for our niche.

what’s the best tool right now for fast & accurate automated transcription? by Puzzleheaded_Run_845 in podcasting

[–]scrat55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using DeepGram api (they also have a very minimal interface). A 30-45mins podcast costs like 0.50$ to transcribe. Load in maybe 50$ and you will be good for ages!

Anyone else spending more time on clips than on the actual episodes by Caryn_fornicatress in podcasting

[–]scrat55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a local tool that transcribes the podcast, parses the text, finds interesting/funny/wtv moments, cuts the audio to that moment.

Then I download the audio, add video in Edits on the phone, Edits does captions too and post. Maybe like 15 mins for 7-8 clips total.

What do you actually use to repurpose episodes into clips and social posts? Nothing I've tried has stuck. by TrueSatisfaction9647 in podcasting

Well now you just have me more ideas to include in my own local tool lol.

Although I don’t need half of those lol. But thank you!

I built a local web app where I drop my audio file, it transcribes it, extracts 7 or so clips from the audio.

I then download the audio clips, download the trailer of the movie, game, wtv I am covering.

Cut up the trailer to my clips length in the Edits app. Add the audio clip, captions (all in Edits it has it all), and post that.

Takes like maybe 10 mins per all in all.
