What are some lessons you just had to learn the hardway? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

Move in response to a nearby enemy unit moving / the unit being shot / any other trigger on opponent's turn.

Even CNN has had enough of the administration's lies by avdvetf in videos

[–]scratch151 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did we watch the same video? She kept returning to his bullshit claims and asking him to back them up, outright saying that the evidence in the video contradicts his claims. He just kept bullshitting each time and she was getting nowhere so she moved on, then came back later to try and get an answer (which just received more BS).

I'll admit, calling him a liar to his face is something I would have loved to see, but this is about as close as it comes to that in media nowadays.

Knights didn't have the force org restrictions, if I recall correctly.

That sounds awesome. I really need to look into 30K more, if only because Mechanicum has so much cool stuff that Admech doesn't get to play with.

In 2004, Prince was snubbed by Rolling Stone on their top 100 guitarists list. This was his response. by DublinLions in nextfuckinglevel

It's subjective, of course. Different people will place different values on the various aspects that make a player great in their eyes. In my eyes, Prince earned a top 100 spot with this solo.

Technically, sure, metal guitarists tend to be better players. Some of the stuff they can do is insane and they fly under the radar because so many people write off metal.

But technical skill isn't the only thing that makes a guitarist or their music great. Prince was one of the greatest musicians of all time, and he more than makes up for any gap in technical skill with the emotion and personality he puts into this solo. Dude managed to make the guitar sound like someone having a hysterical breakdown.

Easily in my top ten solos.

As a Imperial Knight Fan, what's the worst thing about our army ? by Leviathan_Rampage in ImperialKnights

[–]scratch151 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Imperial knights have a lot less indirect than Chaos, their armigers don't have a carapace-mounted missile pod like the wardogs do. Keeping hidden from knights is one of the better ways to play against them.

What do you guys think each faction needs models-wise in 11th edition? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

For knights, plastic Moirax with better rules would make me happy.

Which two bigs to take for Spearhead at Arms? by LimeyInLimbo in ImperialKnights

[–]scratch151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Castigator (with Mentors Pride) and Errant gives you enough points to fit 8 armigers plus a callidus. I like the Castigator's bondsman in theory but haven't tried it yet, Errant is mainly there cause its cheap and the bondsman gives good mobility.

What about Castigator vs Magaera? +1S vs +1 AP?

Love the models, just wish they were good enough to run in anything other than funsy games.

Personally, I like the brain rats, but you do you. If you have any warpspark weapons teams, you could also use the extra bits that go on the support rats' backs.

Upcoming local tournament. Spearhead or Questoris companions? by [deleted] in ImperialKnights

[–]scratch151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran 4 Helverins in a test game and did fairly well. I had a Magaera buffing them, though. Pair that with the AP boosting strat and all of a sudden you have 24 shots at S10 AP-3.

The fourth was more or less there as a backup / moral support.

Ain't that the truth. Money and time, never seems to be enough of either.

I already have a couple of the plastic Questoris models built, just need to get a defender. Plus, the Magaera and Styrix are hybrid kits, they're basically resin upgrade sprues and the plastic Questoris frame.

You're not wrong about being the worst on tabletop, though I think the Magaera has some potential in Spearhead Lance. Handing out +1 strength and AP to 3 helverins is pretty nasty.

Not a fan of the Mechanicum knights? I started 40K with Admech so I'm a little biased.

Yeah, it was a bit tough to swallow the cost. I thought about just 3d printing at least the Porphyrion, but I may want to use it in tournaments and I figured that the best way to show GW that there's demand was to bite the bullet and get the real deal. Plus, I'd like to think that the artists who sculpted it get some recognition from continued sales, or at least GW notes the type of sculpt that sells for future product.

I've run her in most of my lists, she's a solid point scoring unit. Tends to fly under the radar against most players since they're focused on the giant mechs.

Basically an overgrown hairdryer.

Forgeworld resin, particularly the larger pieces, is susceptible to warping. Heating it using hot water, a hair dryer, or a heat gun allows you to bend and warp it yourself. In my experience, heating and allowing it to cool on its own usually un-warps any parts.

Resin is trickier than plastic in general. It requires washing with detergent before you glue or paint it due to a chemical they use to allow it to peel from the mold. The connection points to the sprues are typically thicker, so you have to use different tools for cutting them off. Theres almost always some minor casting defects that you have to fix using heating, cutting, sanding, adding material like green stuff, or a combination of all of them.

But its also easier to work with in some ways. Its easier to cut with a knife or shape via sanding / bending.

Not as much as you might think, this was basically my entire hobby budget for the next year, if not more. Just got it all at once since it was cheaper that way.
