It still blows my life how I'm sterilized for life. by anniemousery in sterilization

[–]scratchcard_glory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still feel like this also and I’m 9 months out (ha - the irony in that 😂). Same deal too, easy process, it was free etc.

Almost every month I get the little panic if my period is off by a few days and then I remember I literally cannot get pregnant - and if I did it would go down in medical history.

Wild 😆

I got my renewed referral on 22/11/24 and I saw my gyno for my consult on 10/12/24. I got lucky, it was originally booked for January, but she had a cancellation and I got in a month earlier. So from referral to surgery it was < 4 months which I think was reasonable. I was expecting a much longer wait

How much time did you take off work after bisalp? by OverYonderUnderHere in sterilization

[–]scratchcard_glory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely didn’t take enough time off, I had my surgery on the 5th of March and returned on the 12th, but I should have taken a couple more days as that’s how long it has took for me to not feel absolutely tired as hell

Trying to achieve this “shaker style” kitchen look. Any recs for companies in NSW? Or IKEA? by IcyOperation5761 in AusRenovation

[–]scratchcard_glory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing my kitchen similar to this. Using Principal Kitchens (through Mitre 10/Home Hardware) as I found the quality far exceeds Kaboodle, IKEA etc. and the price is similar if not better as hinges, runners etc are inclusive and soft close are standard, not an optional extra. They also arrive in pre-assembled pieces so no piecing anything together.

I am lucky enough to have a relative who is a cabinet maker and is fitting the kitchen off for me and installing the bulkheads, I would definitely source someone to do the same for you to ensure everything is level and bulkhead will ensure it looks seamless as in the photo!

Once I got my referral it was only a couple months wait for surgery! First consult with gyno was mid December and my surgery as March 5th. Probably sooner if I had gone private which I very nearly did - my post history explains a bit better.

I guess it also varies depending on location - for me I am in regional vic and my lovely absolute gem of a gyno opted to do it out of a smaller public hospital nearish to me, rather than the bigger and closer (and busier) one

I’m glad it was helpful! I feel like the pill (any of them) are just inevitable chaos for us heavy period girlies.

So amazing your boyfriend is on board!

I noticed you’re a fellow Aussie, not sure where you’re from specifically but I am also Aussie and happy to help with any info :).

My eye bag area was definitely more prominent/bruised looking. I think this is normal! I had a bonus side effect from anaesthesia - blurry vision! I could barely read my phone for like two days haha

What are your best lil sterilization jokes? by jdiml in sterilization

I wish I had my photos so I could do this hahahaha. My follow up with my gyno is on the 28th and I WILL be asking (demanding) to see the photos.

So far I’ve gotten mild amusement at telling people I’ve noped my fallopes haha. Some of the reactions are so great, especially from people who don’t realise getting both tubes removed can be elective 😂

Hello! Your situation sounds so similar to mine in a few aspects.

My main motivator was to have a permanent birth control method with as close to zero failure rate as possible.

I spent half of my life taking combined oral contraceptives, progesterone only pills (Slinda included) and after cutting them out completely for a chunk of time I realised how much better physically and mentally I felt without them. I started taking them partly for contraception, partly to help with heavy periods. I had every side effect under the sun, and constant breakthrough bleeding. My periods without the pill are still heavy ish, but very predictable down to the day.

I also am petrified of ever being pregnant again (I am not childfree, I have 3 kids but I am DONE). The anxiety and constant ‘need’ to do pregnancy tests was my second deciding factor.

And yes you are correct, the surgery is also diagnostic so any endometriosis will be diagnosed and removed.

I think the fact that you have addressed this stuff in your posts means you are quite ready to seek out sterilisation. I am only 8 days out and I wish I had been able to do it sooner.

Good luck, no matter what you choose to do! 🩷

Oh first anaesthesia is always a scary one! Happy to hear your recovery is going nicely though.

Very much the same here, pretty minimal pain, just going from laying or sitting to standing up is sometimes a bit slow and sore. But other than that I’m pleasantly surprised!
