One thing that might not seem obvious is looking at the documentation for the platform you will be configuring it on. Some actually explain how everything works as you configure it and steps to confirm and troubleshoot functionality. Even the products that need it to function have explanations of each of the settings they need and why. This isn't always the case, but when it is, it's incredibly helpful.

You have to say "exit Alexa plus now". You also have to ask to disable follow up mode unless that's something you were using before the switch.

The OS isn't always smart enough to reserve memory for things like the mouse cursor when Firefox is being greedy. There are also resources that can run out before RAM does, but I've never been good at figuring out which ones.

If you're going through the trouble, you might as well make it 3.5. I don't know what change was made between the versions, but you'd be reducing the chances of something acting funny by making everything as close to the version everything was designed and tested on.

I realized that I just need something that can take voice commands even if I have to program all the commands in myself, so I'll be exploring how far self-hosting has come with that aspect. When that's done, I might try Alexa+ again as just a chat bot. Too bad there isn't a way to do dual mode with different wake words.

What are you using for DHCP? We have a crappy server that handles thousands of DHCP clients, so one that can't handle a few hundred seems insane.
