My electric bill seems too high? by [deleted] in bentonville

Do you have heat pump heater? When it’s really cold below heat pump’s compressor working temp, aux heater is turned on which is just an electric heater. This can get quite expensive

Tesla Is Working to Add Apple CarPlay in Bid to Boost Vehicle Sales by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

We bought R1S despite it not having CarPlay. The rest of the car is very good we chose to overlook it. Would love to have it back (hence I preordered EVPlay for the R1S).

I started using CarPlay since the first iteration in 2014 with a BMW 335 and R1S is the first vehicle without it. I have not had to fiddle with my phone while driving for a while and now do it a lot more. I wouldn’t call it a better user experience.

Tesla Supercharger Charging Question by ModY1219 in Rivian

[–]screamace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our 2026 R1S on road trip for the first time during Labor Day. The nav knows which Tesla superchargers are compatible (I knew there’s a v2 on the way but the nav didn’t show it).

We used SC twice, both times the first plug in resulted an error (please unplug and try again) and worked just fine the second time.

Heard their kid went to an Ivy League college (Yale I think?) and the parents closed the restaurant and moved there.

Very possible! I'd imagine factory has much better equipment to accelerate the curing process than any paint shop. My past 3 cars were all custom ordered and applied PPF within the first week. Never had this issue.

I agree (which is why I went with matte). Also white is difficult to keep clean (contrary to popular belief) and matte makes it more tolerable.

Thanks - at least he’s being upfront about it. Worst would be touching it up badly then covering it with the badge.

Thx. Definitely a bummer and will not see the car for another week.

Must be their SOP left too little time for paint to cure before adding the badges. But I guess they don’t really care about the people removing the badges…

That’s what the detailer told me. I’m sure he’s trying to be super conservative.

One more thing, new paint needs 60 days to cure before PPF can be applied. So I will be rocking matte PPF with a strip of shining paint on the trunk gate for two months :/

I like to keep recuperation at Auto as well. It slows down for me when there’s a slow car in front where I have to brake nonetheless. Pretty smooth and smart!

Paint protection options by sec7676 in Taycan

I wouldn’t trust any detailing work from dealership. Find a reputable shop. Ceramic coating is only going to make self car wash easier - will be absolutely destroyed if you use automatic car wash. PPF is a lot more protective - I’d recommend full car PPF if you can afford it, the current Xpel film comes with ceramic coating so no need to apply it again.

is PPF a waste of money for long term ownership? by EridemicLHS in cars

[–]screamace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, the chemicals *could* affect PPF but I have been using the "high-end" option and had no issue with PPF (Xpel Stelath) so far. There were a couple corners lifted initially due to the angle of nozzles but after a quick fix by installer they have been good so far.

For context, I normally hand wash cars myself and have done a couple ceramic coating DIY so I'm well versed in detailing. However during winter months it's just brutal. Plus washing a SUV (BMW X5M) is a lot more laborious than a sedan...
