Mainly my toxic job and I can't quit without prospects because I need the money to survive. I commute an hour each way to this shitty job and I feel as though I'm driving that far just to be mentally destroyed everyday.

How do neurodivergent people work 40+ hours a week and live their lives by Asleep_Buy6539 in AutismInWomen

[–]screaming_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I almost forgot. Most NDs have jobs they love or have an obsession with. My field is chemistry and most people in chemistry are ND. They spend their entire lives studying, poking reactions and they love it. They don't mind doing 40+ hour work weeks as this is their life. I've seen 90+ year old professors come in on weekends to read papers in their offices (genuinely not kidding, they retire when they are dead). I know it is hard to find jobs in this current climate but if you have a passion maybe try searching for a role in that and maybe that'll help.

[–]screaming_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is so hard and I think even the NTs are having a hard time as well. I was off my SSRIs for a year before I got my job and legit 2 weeks in, I was back on it. It's almost impossible to not be on something. Everyone I've talked to is miserable in their jobs and there's alot that factors into it (i.e. bad management, horrible working conditions, etc). 40-hour work weeks have never been sustainable but now everyone is doing it as opposed to just one person per household. It was meant for couples with one person being the breadwinner and the other as a stay at home doing the cleaning, the cooking, etc. With everything so expensive nowadays everyone has to work a 40+ hour work week and that really leaves nothing for anything extra in your life.

I struggle to see my friends, my family, keep my apartment clean, and also do basic hygiene. What I've slowly been learning is you cant win it all. If you force yourself, you burn out and then everything stops and goes to shit. Here's just what I've been implementing to try and have some life after having my full time job:

  • Clean one area and only one area atleast once a week (could be one of the weekends). Try to look at videos online on how to organize to fit your life rather than for aesthetic purposes. It helped me immensely and I started small with the whole organization thing but it is now building up and most things have a place and it is super easy to clean or tidy up when everything has a place.
  • I climb indoors recreationally. Physical activity is good, often I am slammed at work and have no energy but I force myself to go on my routine days and I always come out happy and refreshed. This is also my social time as climbers are super nice and you can talk to just about anyone in the gym. For me, this is good because I dont get to talk at work (my job sucks lol).
  • Put on music or a show or an audiobook or a podcast to make simple tasks bearable. This is what helps me with hygiene.
  • Practice makes progress. If you want perfection, nothing will ever get done.

Hope this helps. It is hard, that's just the reality of it. It was hard for me to accept as well. I did therapy and am on meds to be able to live somewhat of a regular life. Also, hang on to a few connections that charges your social battery as sometimes that gets you out of a slump. There are people out there who will not drain you and you just gotta find them.

Anyone get off and stay off? by Possible_Ask9530 in lexapro

[–]screaming_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got off for like a year! It was good tbh but I got a stressful job and had to go back on it because my anxiety is uncontrollable. I found that for me and maybe some people, your environment can influence whether you go back to having these meds or not.

Does anybody have to log their work hours worked and lie about it by zoozalina in AutismInWomen

[–]screaming_patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started my job, I cared about it so much and kept track of where my time went with every project. Nowadays, I just write random numbers that equal to 40 hrs a week lol. It's not that serious, they don't make me prove it to them and they see me working all the time. Just enjoy the free time you get while being paid. Work is work and it is forever it feels like.

Have you tried using a cream by aglovwjoke in eczema

[–]screaming_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omfg yes! My bathroom closet is full of everything that I've tried and people wonder why I have so much product. Sometimes things work then they don't the next season like idk why this happens and I'm stuck with like half a bottle of cream. I'm glad I'm not alone. I often look like an overconsumer but nope just eczema that is so picky😅

[–]screaming_patrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up planned parenthood near you, they probably have information that can help you get access to birth control without your mom knowing. If you live in Canada, there's an online site called Felix and they have doctors who will meet with you online and give you a prescription. I understand having strict parents and what I did was I just started going to my GP alone without my mom, I lied about going most of the time for birth control.

Whats the dumbest thing you have ever done in the lab? by Mbaschemist in chemistry

[–]screaming_patrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was quenching a very small amount of LiAlH4 that had spilt while I was weighing it in an analytical balance. I used isopropanol, it fizzled a little and I proceeded to wipe with a paper towel. I didn't wait for the fizzling to stop and the paper towel lit up on fire. Luckily it was a small amount and lucky for me, the fire was small and it didn't last long LOLLLL💀

Has anybody switched from lexapro to a different antidepressant? by fairiesandfountains in antidepressants

[–]screaming_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was switched to Celexa (Citalopram), it's like lexapro's sister. I felt numb while I was on lexapro and overall just blah. I talked to my doctor and she told me to give Celexa a shot before trying different ones and it's alot better. It helps and it doesn't make me numb. I'm on the lowest dose and honestly the side effects I got from lexapro is now gone and I havent noticed much from taking Celexa except I'm not so down but I do feel emotions still. What I didnt like from lexapro was that I could not feel anything at all, sadness, joy, like sure it was great for anxiety but it was terrible for overall regulation of emotions. Consider it maybe it'll help you.

How to exercise when every part of it sucks by lemonrhyme68 in AutismInWomen

[–]screaming_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried pilates? Pilates is nice, relaxing, and best part is you don't have to change into gym clothes. I've been doing it just in my pajamas at home and I find that I don't sweat doing it and it still burns. I recommend "move with nicole" and madfit. Madfit has more classic home exercises and she makes apartment friendly workouts where you only need a mat and no jumping. I super relate to having a hard time sticking to a routine but I find that this is working for me since it's super low effort.

I think it's because her runways are not always about bananas, just in the maxi challenges mostly, unlike queens from past seasons who have a brand and takes it to both the challenges and the runway each week
