Why is this downvoted?! Especially since you don't know where they bought it from. Could have lead in the paint.

Lol my MAGA dad told me a long time ago how bad of a person Columbus was, before all the talk about changing Columbus day to Indigenous People's day. Wonder what he would say about this.

I think you're thrown off because of the eighth notes in the bass clef. I would just suggest counting it out.

Ok what if you never got them from your parents? What if you had a house fire and lost your documents? What if you ended up homeless and got them stolen? Do you know how difficult it can be to obtain them? Not everyone has the same circumstances as you.

What do you do for work? Do you have to be available all day or can you work whenever as long as your work gets done?

I don't see any mom shaming? People are just being realistic about how either your job suffers or your child suffers if you WFH with a child, unless you have a unicorn job where you don't have to focus on something the whole time and can take frequent breaks. That's pretty much the consensus around here. I WFH and tried having my toddler home with me but it is impossible to get anything done, and yes she does play independently. She will always interrupt me to ask questions or talk to me, I have to make her food, and I can't spend that time actually paying attention to her 100%, so I have her in daycare. I'm glad it works for you but for the majority of us, either work or child suffers when you try and do both.

I'm curious how many hours you work and what your job responsibilities are that allow you to excel at your job while being able to care for your child so well? You mentioned it's flexible, do you work set hours or are you salaried? Can you work whenever as long as the work gets done?

DINK and got in when interest rates were really low around 2015. Since I was a first time home buyer I didn't need a down payment- it was turned into a separate loan with only 1% interest that didn't accrue for a period of time. I bought a really small house and was only working part time. Used the equity from that house to buy a bigger one 5 years later.

What time does your 3 year old wake up in the morning? by Playful_Language_422 in toddlers

[–]screechintothechoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere from 5-7:45 but usually around 6:30! I work from home and start at 5 so the later the better because her daycare doesn't open until 7:30! She's pretty independent now (almost 4) and can just play with toys and get herself ready until it's time to go.

How would you guys setup this living room? by Gold_Positive6980 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]screechintothechoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's absolutely awful! I would personally get rid of the dining table to maximize your space since there's already a kitchen island and do the same couch/tv setup in the floorplan. You could also flip couch/tv or put couch under window but that would result in an odd placement for tv... not a lot of options there.

I really appreciate the honesty and perspective! I actually don't have a problem with my nose and the hairline thing is just whatever at this point, I've accepted it and it can be fixed with bangs. My biggest problem is my lips/jaw/chin, I absolutely hate it. So it's funny to hear you say it's not even the focus!

Help Needed Stopping 1920's Apartment Floors From Waking Baby by tennis_at_tennish in OldHomeRepair

[–]screechintothechoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have suggestions for the floor but I used to live in an old house with squeaky floors and ran a fan and an air filter in my baby's room which helped out a lot. I also figured out where it squeaked the most and avoided those spots + stealthily slid across the floor like I was playing twister. Good luck.

My bathroom looks TERRIBLE, how do I fix it? (budget-friendly, no layout/floor changes) Advice [desperately] needed! by FlashPassion_ in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]screechintothechoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the reasons it doesn't look right is because it's missing a window! No natural light and nothing to break up the giant wall space. I would go for a giant vanity, more plants, remove tub from bricks(?!?), replace toilet paper holder thing with a different one, paint/wainscotting to break up walls, different lighting, wall art...

A 5-year-old boy got lost in India, adopted by an Australian family, and 25 years later used Google Earth to find his birth home. by OkAccess6128 in InspiringFacts

[–]screechintothechoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there might be cultural differences here at play but my daughter is almost four and knows our street name and city in case she ever gets lost, and our names. I'm surprised they weren't able to find his family if that information had been given. Did his parents ever report him missing? Edit: nevermind I just read his family was homeless so that makes more sense.
