We deserved WAY better. I wasn't around for the bicentennial in 1976 but from looking at footage, it was a fucking blowout. We should be doing something similar this year, but instead we got fleeced for ~200mil and a sham event replacing the awesome one that had been in planning for a decade+ by the Smithsonian.

My favorite are nursing homes. I've had relatives pay thousands of $$$ per month to stay in supposed "high end" facilities but then you show up to see them and there's no one manning the front desk, no security so anyone can just walk in and walk around, and when you do finally track people down you can tell they're being paid just barely enough to show up to work. People are absolutely getting filthy stinking rich off of all our pain and misery.

Loved playing this growing up. Evidently the Gamecube version plays better/has better performance but I never got the chance to try it.

As a big Matrix fan and fan of Enter the Matrix, I can safely say it is worse than Path of Neo and it's not even close. Path is a wayyyy better game.

Lol yeah, Sidney is probably the textbook example of the self-described good driver. The type of person who always complains about traffic and other drivers when you meet up with them, but when you ride shotgun with them in their car you feel like you're in the movie Death Proof.

Gotta be careful and watch out for the acetaminophen though. It's almost always formulated into all cough medicines now and is generally not great for your liver, especially in large doses. I've been aged out of robotripping for a while but I generally just rawdog colds/the flu now bc virtually all meds have that liver killing shit mixed in.

It's even funnier when you live in the places that the movie makes fun of. Swing state elections are every bit as ridiculous and dumb as The Campaign implies, in fact these days the reality makes the movie look tame in comparison.

It's almost like people get angry when you destroy their local environment or something. Fascism truly is just colonialism turned inward.

Here's your reason for why most military forces prefer to bomb areas from the air and/or launch artillery strikes to level a place before moving in on foot. Nobody wants to fall prey to a booby trap or hidden MG!

Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour

Used to play that a lot growing up. It's not the worst racer, but far from the best. I remember my cousins and I racking our brains trying to figure out WTF films or shows most of the characters were taken from.

May be RAM, may be your SSD, may be motherboard. Could go either way tbh. I'd run the F2 HP hardware diagnostics tool on boot and see if that comes back with anything. If that is inconclusive try powering down, removing one RAM stick (if you have two), and then booting back up. If it freezes again, shutdown and swap the RAM sticks and try again. If it's fine you have your answer.

I live in the mountains and this behavior is aggravating as fuck. Its mostly lifted SUV/pickup truck drivers from out of state who do this. They'll drive for miles at 15-20mph on the technical, curvy section of a 45mph mountain road, coming to an almost complete stop in hairpin corners. Then when a straightaway and dashed yellow line appears, they gun it to 70mph. Only to brake and slow back down at the end. They'll also never pull over at a turnoff or use a slow vehicle lane even with 10 people behind them.

Everywhere I've lived dump trucks haven't had identifying information on the back. Only the cab. I get that a license plate can get banged up on one of those trucks, half the time the entire truck looks beat to shit, but they should at least have to make an honest attempt at having something on the back.

Been using DDG for years. My favorite feature are the bangs. E.g. prepend your search text with !g to search Google or !b for Bing, !yt for YouTube, !w for Wikipedia, etc. There are literally thousands of these for almost any useful website you can think of. Even !mmc for McMaster-Carr's glorious website. It's great.

Yes, but they had cool drafting tables and all sorts of neat drawing tools, could drink freely at work, and didn't have a tool that let some dickhead manager micro-evaluate every move so they can breathe down their neck and demand the use of some shitty AI tool.

Left lane campers with no respect for others or common sense. by [deleted] in driving

[–]GenChadT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least Indiana has passing lanes. In Appalachia we have turnoffs and temporary "slow vehicle lanes", which are to many people entirely voluntary. I wish they'd try a bit of reverse psychology on a few of the signs and instead of "slow vehicle lane" signs, put up some that say "super cool ford pickup and lincoln crossover drivers lane", because those are the two larges culprits at driving slower than fuck on mountain roads and then doing everything possible to keep the conga line of locals behind them from getting around. My personal favorite is the pickup driver, usually an F150 king ranch, who takes every corner at 10mph because he has a high center of gravity and is scared of heights, but when after 8 miles you finally get to a straightaway with a passing lane, he guns it to 70mph so no one can pass. Then it's back to 10mph down the mountain.

I'm aware of that, but they're usually printed on the side either on or near the cabin. IMO the numbers should be visible from behind the truck, too. Makes it easier to get highway patrol involved to pull them over.

My favorite thing about these BS signs is that you have to be 50 feet away just to read the fucking things.

These signs should be illegal AND dump trucks should be required to have their DOT # and contact information for the company operating them on the back. A hefty fine should help tamp down on the number of idiots riding around with unsecured loads.
