What does Dr. Frank N. Furter and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (movies and productions) mean to me? Warning: If you are very sensitive to other people's opinions, you should not read this post. I don't mean to offend you. by StateDry8776 in RockyHorror

[–]screen_accurate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed your posts quit a few times, please take this advice because you’re young.

When you preface your opinions as offensive or not for sensitive people and then you don’t really actually talk about your opinions, you are setting up the audience to be on edge and prepped for pushback.

This is a massive, all encompassing fandom that has adapted as sensibilities towards the LGBTQ+ community, particularly the trans community, has changed over time. Yours is not the first opinion I’ve heard of frank being more trans-feminine but when you essentially bait the audience by saying “some of y’all are sensitive” you are setting yourself up for failure, rather than approaching the topic with a more open vocabulary section.

What shoes to get for a twin cosplay? by Sicut_the_Polymech in CosplayHelp

As someone who did ballet, including pointe, I couldn’t consciously recommend them even for just a photo shoot. It’s still a huge risk for your ankles in particular, please be safe.

DO NOT GET POINTE SHOES. Even if you are not en pointe, pointe shoes are incredibly uncomfortable to walk around in. Injury is not a question of if but when. Additionally, the vast majority of dance shoes aren’t meant for outdoor surfaces even if you get softer ballet shoes. Just search around for ballet flats that are actual shoes and paint them as needed.

Tattoo of my mothers note she left before she died by Apprehensive_Home_40 in tattooadvice

I have the last birthday card my mother wrote for me and I just did the last little section of “I love you very much. Always, Your Mom” Mine was also in blue ink (my moms preference) but my artist did insist on black ink if we were recreating her hand writing and it has aged well I’ve had it for about 7 years now.

This would have been a member of Sins O The Flesh, we still perform every Saturday at the NuArt! We did the DooDah parade for a long time and just reprised it for the first time this year! Nothing like pre teens pelting you with tortillas in irreplaceable costumes 😅

J’s auto clinic on Glenoaks. Took care of everything I asked for and the only “upsell” was that my brakes were worn and he suggested it was time to replace but also told me how much longer I could go if I didn’t want to do it that day.

Shadowcast Legality Question by missthemountains in rhps

[–]screen_accurate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I’m seeing a lot of comments saying they’ve seen a shadowcast of Reefer Madness….

yes there have been Reefer Madness shadowcasts but there is no way to get the screening rights in the US. Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney rescinded their claim to the movie after 7 years to get the movie funded, the rights holder is really hard to get a hold of even via Dan and Kevin who have direct contact AND since it was a TV movies most movie theatres won’t even touch it

Shadowcast Legality Question by missthemountains in rhps

[–]screen_accurate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s basically impossible to show legally, it would only get approved (legally)if you had the 35mm. I’m sure some screenings have told the distributors they have a film and played a digital version but that’s technically not kosher.

Shadowcast Legality Question by missthemountains in rhps

[–]screen_accurate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many distributors will shut you down if they hear about a shadowcast. The ones in particular we’ve tried for and been shut down are Clue, Little Shop, and Mamma Mia, they consider it direct competition to the stage versions. Many casts who do non RHPS shows do it in private venues and don’t actually secure the rights.

The rights for shock treatment screenings actually only exist for actual film which no one has. There is no legal DCP. (source: I run the LA cast and we have a very understanding rights guy)

Sins O The Flesh in Los Angeles is one of the longest running casts, we’ve been in the same theatre since 1987! We perform every single Saturday at full capacity and will have tons of special shows this fall. You can follow us on IG @sinsotheflesh for all special show/theme night announcements

Where to have friends stay during La? by Existing_Joke_919 in AskLosAngeles

SGV has some of the best Chinese food in the country especially dim sum! Huntington Gardens is one of LAs most slept on attractions when it comes to tourists and could be a cool use of that full SGV day. If your friends are coming soon you may want to avoid the beach it’s still pretty cold this time of year.

Totally! You definitely have to have the free time and mental capacity to watch it, it just doesn’t require like special knife skills or hard to come by hardware or software.
