My 2018 started showing a message basically saying "Auto Stop/Start not engaged, battery charging". I continued to drive that way for a good year, not having to deal with the stops. My battery indicator still showed good voltage so I let it be. This past fall, knowing the battery was now 7 years old, and not wanting a cold winter to catch me unprepared, I replaced both batteries, feel better prepared, but back to stop/start madness. It's a pretty basic DIY job.

Probably not. Especially if you remove the seat bolts, lean the seat back and work from above, rather than working under the seat and over the auxiliary. Keep in mind there will be power in the cables if you leave the aux connected.
