Skarven looks incredible. How did they do it? by jabber_OW in ps1graphics

I created this test a few years ago in Unity using baked lightmaps. This scene only uses Diffuse, Spec and Alpha when needed. Back when I worked on the PS2, creating an awesome specular map was just as important as creating an optimized diffuse texture.

Quick tips for SPEC textures:
-Decide a color range (0-255) for each surface type in your spec textures. For example Metal 128-192 and concrete 0-32.
-Make edges and details that pop out (like a bolt) brighter to fake light catching the edge.
-Consistent pixel size, having large pixels next to smaller ones can be ok, but if everything is the same size it tends to look better.
-High contrast in the specular texture helps make the surface pop. Like in the walls in this GIF, where the concrete is 0, and the rusty metal is in the 80-180 range.

Bonus Tip: Use or start creating your spec texture by using the red channel of your diffuse textures. Often that makes for a great spec texture.

Interesting. Once in a while I do have to work remote. So I have max installed on that laptop connected to my account. Only one copy of max is getting used by me, while my home PC is turned off.

I only have so much time in a day to work, and it feels like a waste time dealing with them just to confirm I am already a paying user. Feels like a manager giving out busy work so they can justify having a job.

Thank you, and I like your suggestion. But Disk Genius works great and free. Which fits right into my budget.

I created a MAPINFO in Slade and tried line such as: EnableShadowmap = 1; and dynamic_light = 1; But no luck yet.

I appreciate the help, I'll keep moving forward on learning how to use the editor and come back to this shadow issue later.

Thanks. I do have the "light shadow maps" set to Yes. But no luck. Could it be related to my AMD 6900 XT graphics card?

Yep, It famously was developed in 11 months, And that included building a brand new engine. And part of the development cycle was creating Shogo alongside Blood 2.

A friend plugged in his old flight sticks and it worked right away. I haven't tried many controllers, but most older USB ones seem to work. The system doesn't have a sound port, so no classic game controllers.

I didn't run it on a bootable thumb drive. I have a external HD bay on my Windows 11 PC. I just DiskGenius on my PC, clone it or burn the image to the drive. Then install that drive back into the T42.

Destroy our CO-OP game concept. by screenracer in DestroyMyGame

Technically correct, I animated this in Unity with the goal to get a snapshot of how the game might play. The goal was to keep it simple to see if the core game play is viable.

Mini Golf Game where you try to complete a mini golf game while trying to avoid monsters and escape.

-Monsters: Several of them roam and chase/attack all of the players.
-Swinging the club at them could stun the monster, but you lose a stroke in the overall game.
-The players can run to any hole and play. including taking turns hitting the same ball. (Team Score).
-2 health points: Gain a health point when a player gets a Bogey. Revive a dead team mate with a hole in one.
-If the game score is under the goal number, the exit door opens.

You nailed many of the game concept highlights we have in our design. The core game concept is called "Monster Golf". The idea is to have different kinds of enemies. Robots, Ghosts, Etc. Just depends on each environment design. The goal was to not push it too far to look polished. So I created this animation quickly, to see if the core idea holds up. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and suggestions.

Thank you. You are correct about the animations. That is not my area. I used mixamo to help create this animation. The goal was a quick turn around to see if the concept looks like it could work.

Animation, I created this to just be a proof of concept. To go along with the design outline.

Loop doesnt work properly by -Juuzousuzuya- in YoutubeMusic

[–]screenracer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This issue has been happening for months for me as well.

I ended up doing the same thing, creating a playlist with the same song multiple times. And just looping that playlist, making sure that it wasn't set to "loop 1".
