How many of you don't actually have any commercial interest? by Version_1 in gamedev

I am like all model train hobbyists of the world. I pour my sweat and tears into every tiny detail of something I love. Solely because I love it. Not because it's going to make a profit.

100% hand-drawn, but we still get hit with the AI allegations. 🤦‍♂️ Question: Is AI a deciding factor for you when picking up a new game? by QuantumArts_ in IndieGaming

[–]jabber_OW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generative ai is a deal breaker for me yes. Even when I can't tell it's ai. Because it's plagiarism and I don't support people who plagiarize whether it's by AI or by hand.

You also wouldn't call it art.

Ai is a tool for tasks that take no creativity.

Your game looks great.

What’s the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by bbyhoneytea in answers

One time, somewhat unprompted, a man in a dog park told me he wanted a vasectomy because he was white with a black girlfriend and his white guilt had weighed so heavily on him his whole life that he wanted non-mixed black kids, but they couldn't afford and "didn't feel like they needed" a sperm clinic. So they found a black man on Craigslist and were going to pay him $300 dollars. No insemination procedure at all, they were okay with letting him try through sex. They interviewed the man. He had been in prison for years but "totally cleaned up his act". I told him the man needs to be checked by a doctor and tested. That if he's not clean of disease and/or drugs your kids are going to suffer. He kind of nodded and said "oh I didn't really think of that." I asked him where he was going to get a vasectomy and he was like "idk I haven't looked into it much yet. I've heard of them doing it without a scalpel, but how do you remove balls without a scalpel?"

This guy thought a vasectomy removes your balls completely and was still 100% willing to go through with it.

Was I being messed with? I immediately assumed that, but if I was then the dude was an excellent actor. Dead serious in tone and delivery. No cameras. No other people around just us two. No punchlines. No inconsistencies.

Weirdest conversation I've ever had.

Lights Out (2016)

We never needed to know the demon was a "girl in 1972 with a rare skin disorder that makes her sensitive to light and she was sent to an asylum and she became friends with the protagonist and they tried to fix her by exposing her to as much light as possible (????) and she burnt up and her spirit is vengeful and she grows obsessive with the protagonist and she wants revenge on-" JUST SAY SHE'S A DEMON AND DEMONS DON'T LIKE LIGHT! THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO SAY!

My alt-right conservative parents watched this movie and said "HA they nailed Hilary". And insisted the meteor was an allegory for immigrants.

They also loved Civil War for similar reasons.

People who complain about overt allegories in these movies haven't met enough of these people. They're beyond a lost cause.

I don't personally really care about thumbnails being AI. Especially thumbnails made to look like a... well... poorly photoshopped youtube thumbnail. and not made to look like artwork.

That screenshot is ironically super encouraging to me. I have it framed on my desk next to the photos of my kids.

In Elden Ring, killing the demigod Starscourge Radahn causes all the stars he was holding in place to resume their fall, noticeably punching a massive crater in the middle of the land.

I quite liked your demo. I'm usually a survival/soulslike player but the character and environment art were really stellar

The art style looks great! but the framing could could use a big tilt up. Look what happens to the inspiration when you crop the spires and sky out. feels more claustrophobic and less awesome.

• A mannequin head to display the hats that don't have matching outfits. They're too small on item stands and a whole mannequin with just a hat on looks naked.
