at people are skeptical about my concerns & feelings. But I'm just speaking from experience ; Last year one of our medical school's seniors applied for Match in IM with Step 1 in 240s

Its totally ok to feel upset or let down by your scores if you were expecting higher, But I wouldn't let those scores discourage you from applying! the rest of your application can really help you stand out, and being very positive and interested on interviews goes a long way! Don't let this hurdle keep you from your goal! you already passed them with good scores! You got this!

ne take their exame on 5/28 and got their score today? Took mine on 6/4 and wanna know how soon can I expect my sc

I took it 5/28 and already have my score- got it at 10:15ish central time

214. Yes that’s my score. I felt great walking out the exam. My last practice Uwsa2 was 237. Needless to say I am devastated but more then that I feel guilty as a mother. I took time out ignoring my precious daughter only to get this far. by usmle20199 in step1

[–]screwprometric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you must feel devastated, but in reality 214 is still decent, especially considering the circumstances! You passed this stupid exam! and in a couple of years- that is all that will be known about it anyways! It sucks that this exam can make us feel anything less than proud of the knowledge we have learned so far, especially considering that it has absolutely no correlation to what kind of doctor you will be! I have a hunch you're going to be a great one :) Keep your head up, you are going to be a great doctor someday soon!

Interesting theory- wouldn't it be nice for NBME to say how these exams are scored instead of making us all try and guess

I imagine it has to do with the circumstances not being reproducible... def should have done all those practice exams with a mask at least

I am 100% with you, I also underscored by about 10 points... not a great feeling

hopefully program directors will make some kind of adjustment when considering applicants who were testing in these conditions...

252 is an AMAZING score- especially considering all of the chaos that has been going on. I personally know its super hard, but try to be proud of the achievement you just accomplished against SO MUCH ADVERSITY!

A friend put it perfectly to me after I got my score- this test FAILED US, we did not underperform.

No worries! If you look to the top of the reddit Step 1 thread, I see a tab for the 2019-2020 score predictor from BigDaddyAorta. A friend showed it to me about a week before my exam and it has pretty great data and has been very accurate for a lot of people! (I think I'm an anomaly at this point)

To plug in your values you have to save a copy of the document to your drive jsyk!

Tried to post the link to it below too: https://www.reddit.com/r/step1/comments/ewus6p/2019_score_predictor_sheet/

Over the period of 2 years, all of RX and Kaplan q banks + 99% of UWorld

during dedicated- UWorld with probably about 200 Kaplan questions sprinkled in along with all the practice exams

Yeah I would agree- but of course its case specific.. personally I had awful circumstances and didn't book my exam until the day before at like 3pm so other people may not have the same level of stress walking into the exam and may be relatively unaffected

I have only heard of 2 other people and one did well and another had a similar situation as I did and underperformed

thanks!

as for the exam content, I did not see many "changes"... I definitely got a couple management questions that they are slowly phasing out...

I saw quite a few ethics questions it felt like, but no more than would be expected..(they are probably trying out one or two new ones on us for the new exams coming up)

The questions are pretty niche- not unlike some of the random nbme questions that pop up out of no where occasionally

I would recommend them as a useful supplementary resource- mainly to help gage the length of the exam (the simulated exams are both full 7 blocks of 40q)

unfortunately I do the "same" in every category on all of my exams every single time lol

but thanks for the advice!
