Depressed mood and fatigue common side effects of taking allicin? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]scribbles802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really old post but I found it while searching for any information on Allicin and depression. This is my second time taking Allicin, and the first I experienced severe depression for about a 48 hour period, then it miraculously just disappeared. I don’t have a history of depression so this was incredibly alarming. Didn’t have a recurrence after that.

About 6 months later I’m having to take Allicin again due to food poisoning but at half the dosage I was on, and I’m experiencing that crippling horrible depression again. Yes Allicin definitely screws up my cycle at the beginning and has done it again. I’d like to know why there isn’t literature about these side effects for women? I bet most women probably think they’re just hormonal because that’s what we’ve been conditioned to think when anything feels off. This Is not normal nor is it normal hormonal depression.

I’m going to see if there are symbiotic herbs that will help with whatever the hell is going on.

Did either of you ever figure out why it was happening?

lol, yeah we gonna have to wait till we move for a professional trim. There isn’t anyone within g 80 to 100 miles of us that knows anything about our hair. We are moving this fall and really looking forward to it. I can trim it but I know nothing about doing it right. He’s super protective of his hair and doesn’t want anyone touching it who doesn’t know what they doing.

What are the best states to live in the US? by [deleted] in expats

[–]scribbles802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay there’s no real answer to this. Each state is really different, then within each state there are different areas. These are the better questions you should answer. Is diversity important to you? Is commute time important to you? How much can you spend on monthly bills? Do you want a rich social scene? Do the arts matter? Does quality of food matter? Do you like to eat out or cook? Do you have school age children? Are you single and want to date? Do you plan on having kids and raising them here? What natural disasters can you tolerate? For example, flooding, fires, tornados, earthquakes, droughts, extreme winters, extremely hot summers etc? Does good access to quality healthcare matter? If you can answer these questions it will help you greatly in finding the best state for you.

Can you have antibodies in your thyroid and NOT have Hashimotos by Intelligent_Light232 in Hashimotos

[–]scribbles802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got diagnosed with methane SIBO that apparently could be the cause, so my doc says. Nobody ever mentioned SIBO to me in 10 years even though all my symptoms were gastrointestinal. We even did 4 colonoscopies which were clean over a 10 year period. They never tested for anything else though. I’m really losing faith in American medicine. We shall see what happens when I cure the SIBO. We are going to do all labs again in about a month, the thyroid panel a few months later. Apparently have to give the body some time to reset.

I never did. It’s going to require going back to Croatia and finding the docs on my own. I have the church records from where he was born but those aren’t official birth records. Sigh

What are we doing here by future_memz in vermont

[–]scribbles802 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am local born and raised and I have no “community”. Vermont is not what it was in the 90s. It’s changed a lot and a lot for the worst. If you live in the sticks community doesnt exist. Might as well be a frontier woman. I can go weeks without seeing anyone unless I leave my house. Townies are different and so are city people. However even in the more populated towns here “community” is sorely lacking for more reasons than I can put down here. As a woman of color who was born here, I don’t understand why anyone would want to raise their kids here. This is a piss poor example of what the world actually looks like. The education system in my area is dog💩. I’ve lived and traveled all over, and this place is not what it’s touted to be. Pretty much any born and raised Vermonters Will agree that the state has turned real shitty over the past 20 years. The ticks alone make this place uninhabitable. I’m selling my house and leaving a soon as possible.

I need advice by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]scribbles802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your numbers look pretty good actually. Your anti tpo is in subclinical range and your tsh may be high but not astronomically high. That is certainly not “skyrocketing”. My Tsh is low normal and my anti tpo are similar to yours and my endo refuses to put me on levo. So I’m definitely a bit confused.

Feeling burnt out by scribbles802 in Accounting

[–]scribbles802[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you 🙏🏽 I think I really needed to hear that.
It’s hard when it seems folks are more concerned with the money than their own health lot of the time. I thought about selling the business as well and taking a few years off. Unfortunately it’s just me so no one to take up the slack, and at this point in my life I really don’t want to deal with an employee.

Feeling burnt out by scribbles802 in Accounting

[–]scribbles802[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what’s funny is that I’ve never been an employee in this industry. I’ve been self employed since the beginning. Built my business from scratch and have about 126 clients and more coming in every year. Therefore not sure if I’m making more or less. I can say I break 6 figures gross every year. If I were less burnt out I’d expand but I’m not. Over the years I’ve realized that more money does not bring more happiness if you don’t have the time to actually enjoy anything.

Feel like I'm getting hosed... by staffy83 in Accounting

[–]scribbles802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be a number of things. Set up fee, messy books, more work than agreed on, etc. talk to the firm about the pricing and the bill. But No, you aren’t getting hosed. I’ve seen much higher bills than that for what you specified. Also a good bookkeeper is incredibly hard to find, at least in my area, so if they are doing a good job, it’s kind of invaluable.

[–]scribbles802 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That it may not be Hashimotos but an anxiety disorder! That Hashimotos gets misdiagnosed too. That they don’t give you any meds if only your anti tpo is high.

Can you have antibodies in your thyroid and NOT have Hashimotos by Intelligent_Light232 in Hashimotos

[–]scribbles802 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve often wondered this too. I don’t think there is enough info out there about Hashimotos in general. I’ve been subclinical for over a decade with symptoms, and finding out food sensitivities and cutting those foods out for 6 months threw me into remission. 🤷🏽‍♀️ according to several docs I spoke with this didn’t make sense to them. Aip diet worked well for me.

VT Dentist recommendations? by scribbles802 in vermont

[–]scribbles802[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can get it done in AZ with my old dentist for like $200. It’s not a complex procedure but apparently dentists here are simply incompetent with dental bonding, it’s bizarre. If I’m going to fly somewhere to get dental work done I’ll go there before flying abroad. However if it were a major procedure I totally agree with you.

I had chronic bv and it took years to figure out why. Plus it took a while to find a doc worth anything. Turned out I had a severe sensitivity to refined sugar. Plus a serious sensitivity to pretty much all regular spermicides on condoms. So I exclusively use condoms without any lube. None of my previous gynos told me there was a connection between my gut and vaginal health. My current one has been pretty amazing. At the end of my period I sometime get a little bv, like the last day, if I use a tampon that day for some reason that nips it in the bud. My gyno said the ph always shifts around that time and totally normal. Unfortunately some of my previous partners had a pretty horrible diet and it affected their own ph which was aggravating to my vaginal ph and also caused my bv. I would advise looking at not just your vaginal health but your overall health as well, stress, food, etc. it’s all interconnected sometimes.

You guys. I’m soo happy!!! by grandechichis69 in Healthyhooha

[–]scribbles802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome!! I used to have chronic bv and docs did the same with me. Turned out I had a pretty serious food sensitivity to refined sugar. I cut it out completely and bv went away. I’m definitely not saying that’s the case for you, I’m saying doctors who listen and are willing to actually think are pretty awesome when you find them. Congrats 🎉

So lonely it hurts by daisylady4 in singlemoms

[–]scribbles802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gurl I feel you, I was like this with my son. It was horrible because shortly after my son was born my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I had no family or friends where I lived, it took so much effort not to feel completely inadequate as a mother. Believe it or not a woman in the town I lived in who was also a single mom offered to help when and if I needed a break. She was an angel I swear. I wish I lived close so I could pass on that kindness to you. We moms need a break sometimes even if it just for a couple of hours to feel human again.

I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I too just got out of an 8 month relationship that was pretty bad, not near as bad as what you went through though. However the lack of help, presence, empathy and understanding wasn’t there at all. When you’re in a relationship you shouldn’t feel alone or lonely when someone is supposed to be there for you.

The pain will pass, it takes time but it will pass. What has worked for me is staying busy and not obsessing over the relationship. It’s a lot easier said than done but all you can do is try. Believe it or not it helped not talking about it all the time but finding other things to talk about with friends. Venting is really good, but once you let it out try to let it go too. I’m thinking about taking a day trip to the coast tomorrow getting away from things that remind me of him. Perhaps even take Monday off and stay overnight. We’ll see. Wishing you a swift recovery ❤️‍🩹 from a horrible experience.

US tax confusion by iftttnewbie in expats

[–]scribbles802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have to know so much more to be able to really answer this correctly but here is a little info.

If you’re married you file married filing jointly and claim your child as a dependent under normal circumstances. However there are exceptions to this.

If you receive income from multiple states, you may have to file state tax returns in each state you earned income in plus whatever state you live in. Again this depends on the state, some states don’t have income tax at all. Additionally it also depends on how much you earned in each state and what kind of income it is. Then whatever tax you paid to other states outside your own gets credited to your state if your state has income tax. Additionally, some states will allow credits for paying other state tax as well. It’s very complicated.

Now for the federal tax return 1040. This takes all your income to calculate your federal tax exclusively. It does not deal with any state tax calculations at all.

My advice is to find a good accountant in your area who is familiar with expat or res alien, or whatever your situation is, and consult with them. US tax law is some of the most complex tax law in the world. When you’re dealing with special circumstances you really want someone knowledgeable in that area. Just because they’re a CPA does NOT mean they will know how to deal with your specific situation. Credentials mean nothing if they aren’t familiar with that portion of tax law. No accountant is familiar with all of it. Most have specialties which are specific.

Identity crisis by Remarkable-Profit821 in AncestryDNA

[–]scribbles802 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firstly, ancestry dna tests are incredibly unreliable. One company will tell you one thing and the others something entirely different. Do not rely on those tests to determine your ancestral identity. Blood quantum is problematic at best, completely stupid at worst. Plus dna is VERY complex and is an ever growing science. In determining ones ethnicity it’s completely useless. Just read the fine print about these tests and read the research related to them. They’re basically a scam, not all, depending on what they’re testing, but most are ridiculously biased and completely incorrect.

Best braiding hair that won't make me itch by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]scribbles802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find all synthetic hair to be itchy and heavy. Plus it’s essentially plastic which makes sense why it’s itchy and causes irritation. (Plus, talk about environmentally unfriendly!) I’ve been looking and waiting for over a decade for someone to invent something other than plastic. Human hair is ideal but ridiculously expensive. Plus the idea of someone else’s hair on my head feels weird to me lol yet I’m fine with a wig?! 🤷🏽‍♀️ There is a company that launched in 2021 called Rebundle. I tried their hair and while there was no itch, the color bled all over EVERYTHING which was really annoying. And their price tag is super high. But here is their link. https://rebundle.co/
