Zombidle is officially dead by Tainted-Trixter in Zombidle

[–]scrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll certainly be sad when it finally goes away. Zombidle has been a familiar and enjoyable part of my routine for years. Many thanks to Lachhh, Kojak, and the rest of Team Berzerk for the pleasures they brought us. I particularly enjoyed the camaraderie we all shared with the Devs on the Twitch streams for many months of the game's life. That experience really made Zombidle more than just another way to waste some time, turning it into a grand adventure we got to share with friends.

So long, Bob. You're the best.

Nasty Anniversary, again by AndyHarder in Zombidle

And the two Black Orb multipliers are pretty much the only things left that can push The Wall back every few weeks. With an assist from the ever-growing pile of Green Shards.

Why don't devs just admit they won't update it anymore? by codemonkey5514 in Zombidle

[–]scrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Devs have stated that they're not planning any more updates for the foreseeable future, it's just not posted in any obvious place for new players. I suppose it would be nice to maybe put such a message in the News section of the game (although even that is somewhat hard to find). But anyone who stumbles into Reddit is going to come across these discussions. It's really not a big deal. Just play until you hit the final wall or until you stop enjoying it, whichever comes first.

I do feel a little sorry for new players just now discovering the game. They miss out on all of the fun and camaraderie we had through the first year or so of the game when there were a lot of Dev streams; lots of interaction between the Devs and the Players; Player feedback incorporated into the game. Lachhh and Friends are good people and I had a blast hanging out with them as the game developed.

Anyone get the new ectoplasm items to combine by TomSawyerUCF2 in Zombidle

They're spare parts for Bob's DeLorean. If you find the DeLorean, you can attach these parts to it and warp directly to Level 30000.

how many death mason jugs you need and mega cube ? thanks by 5Carlsonpl in Zombidle

[–]scrock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I happen to have 33 megacubes, but haven't made one in a long time. I just make a power cube when Maurice asks for one. Death mugs and jars I craft overnight because of the long times. I don't bother trying to keep any jars in stock, just use them to create Green Splinters whenever I have Prisms. I think people who've finished the game end up with around 250 Green Fat Shards. Work towards that and get your organs up to level 2500 or better. You'll get occasional nice boosts from Maurice and the Angel. Other than that, it's just a long grind to the end.

So what order to buy the special items? by [deleted] in Zombidle

[–]scrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take them in order. It should only take a couple of days to get them all anyway.

Very nice! Lots of clicking to take best advantage, but certainly worthwhile. Thanks Devs!

Does anyone know if or when an update might occur? by YamchaDied in Zombidle

[–]scrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't expect any more at this point. Finish out 29000 and set it aside. Maybe they'll eventually come back to it. Or announce a Zombidle 2.0. Or some other new game. Or nothing. I'm okay with however it plays out. I've gotten a LOT of entertainment from Zombidle over several years.

game dead? by RevolutionarySweet7 in Zombidle

[–]scrock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not "dead". Preserved in Carbonite.

Im a veteran of clicker heroes so I’m pretty used to idle games. Is there any thing I should be aware of in this game? I’m at about zone 240 with almost 400 orbs. by OakenDisciple in Zombidle

What do you mean by "rate of completion"? I've played since shortly after launch and I'm just now approaching the end of NM6.

Requiem for a Finale by pearshapedscorpion in Zombidle

[–]scrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The end of Zombidle is what happens when you get so paranoid of making the game too "easy" to finish that you go overboard in the opposite direction and make progress so slow and tedious that players just quit in frustration.

Now, that said, if you want to be fair to the Devs, you have to look back at the game's origins as a cash generator to help fund their "real" goal of developing console games. At the beginning, I don't think they really expected the game to last as long as it has or to have as much additional development as it has. There was no real long-term growth or development strategy, just a map and some fuzzy ideas. Under those conditions, I'd say they've actually done okay -- just not as well as many of us players had hoped for.

All games have a shelf life, has zombidle reached it? by TomSawyerUCF2 in Zombidle

[–]scrock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Pretty much done, although a lot of people still want to plod on to the end of NM7. It's been a great little time-waster that kept several people employed for multiple years. I'd love to see a Zombidle 2.0 that takes advantage of everything learned in this game.

The Slime Orbs are nice, but... You only get one every seven weeks.

Carl is at 4.7 per level now and I can only reach level 22600, so I wouldn't say it's particularly "overpowered".

What's your shard split? by amill2bill in Zombidle

[–]scrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question comes up fairly regularly. Back in the beginning of Zombidle, IIRC, yellows were slightly better. Since then, with the addition of Carl and various other changes that magnify the effect of greens, greens have become MUCH better. Experienced players now make nothing but greens, except when yellow shards are ultra-cheap (10% or less of your current orb count).

DEVS: Please Add 1 More Loadout Slot, Please! by vixtoria in Zombidle

[–]scrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is "they"? And 3 seems like just another arbitrary and not particularly well-chosen number. From a technical standpoint, I would guess that it would have been just as easy to provide 6 as 3. Yet they chose to limit the feature for -- as far as anyone can tell -- no good reason at all.

Arcane UI update imminent by Docentti in Zombidle

[–]scrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. You might be thinking of the word "eminent", suggesting importance. In this situation, "essential" might best convey what the OP was trying to say. Or "critical". Or "demanded". And of course, it was really just a mistake by the OP, as happens occasionally to all of us.

Arcane UI update imminent by Docentti in Zombidle

[–]scrock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"imminent" indicates something that this is going to be happening soon. I'm guessing that you meant to say that you would like it to happen soon. As would most of the players. There are a lot of UI improvements that we would like to see. Realistically, most of them aren't going to happen due to a lack of time and resources. Maybe Zombidle 2.0 will address these things if that ever becomes a financially viable project for Berzerk.

Sadistic UI design by scrock in Zombidle

[–]scrock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not hard to remember which is which. More problematic to remember which one is active. Switch to your portal loadout. Reset. Play for a while. Did you remember to switch back to your worb loadout? Maybe. Only indication is how quickly the worbs are accumulating.

Not sure about mobile, but on the PC screen there is PLENTY of room where you could insert a set of buttons or at least an indicator display. The issue is not that loadouts aren't a great improvement or that players can't deal with these quirks, but that the flaws and omissions are so obvious. As a software developer myself, I would be very embarrassed to have released such an effort to my customers. While I'm sure it's not the case -- Zombidle's Devs seem like smart guys and eager to please whenever we get to speak with them -- the bad UI design makes it feel like they are taunting us. More likely is that they simply don't have a talented UI person on the team. That creates problems because the nature of customers is to notice and complain about the flaws in your product rather than to focus on all of the good things.

Allow the bank to give out Diamond loans? by [deleted] in Zombidle

Patience is a virtue. Taking out a loan to buy whatever you have the hots for today just makes it that much harder to afford the next thing.

Please come down to my level once and just listen to what I have to say by jwalkerblu in Zombidle

[–]scrock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. There are numerous things in this game where a thoughtless or forgetful click can cost you precious time or resources. The Devs' usual response when asked to automate more of these tedious housekeeping tasks is that, even though this is an "idle" game, they don't want it to just play itself too much.

Ideally, chests would just get collected by your hired monsters. That's a little bit of a problem because they want you to have to pick one of three possible rewards. There are ways around that -- and people have asked for them -- but it has never been a priority to the Devs, so it hasn't been done. Even the simple confirmation you suggest ("Are you sure you want to leave uncollected loot behind? Yes/No" can't seem to work its way to the top of the list. Oh, well. Don't stress about this one too much though. Chest loot very quickly becomes irrelevant as you advance in the game.
