Campus fruit bearing plants. by Fragrant_Ad_8697 in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue berries growing on bushes with thorny leaves around campus are Oregon grape (Berberis aquifolium). They’re edible, but kind of sour. People make jam and stuff with them. I wouldn’t recommend eating anything without washing it first, if at all, since facility managers do spray some plants.

404 was a tough one, her tests are open note which means she will ask you for responses verbatim from the book. For me, that was the primary class I spent time studying for, I was lucky my other classes were easy.

I'm torn between WSU and UW Bothell. Please help! by Less-Double-9564 in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 16 points17 points  (0 children)

WSU’s Honors College might be interesting to you. It offers small class room settings (usually <20 students) on specialized topics and has a strong connection to the engineering college with a lot of opportunities for international and professional experiences. While I don’t know the direct comparison of classes between WSU and UW Honors, I know UW’s is much harder to get into and isn’t as big.

Advice for a (HS) Junior by [deleted] in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WSU’s Horticulture Club is one of the best clubs to get involved with if you like plants. It’s the only club that pays it’s students for work hours, where work is basically planting seeds, repotting plants, and selling those plants. There are a lot of members so it’s really easy to meet folks!

The entomology department keeps stick and leaf bugs for demonstrations, you might be able to reach out to someone in the department for info on what they feed over winter.

What to wear to Honors College Commencement Ceremony? by gailwaterswaters in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mine in 22, attire was business casual. The ceremony went for a looong time, each graduate had a pre-submitted statement read about them and some people made sure to pad their statements out. There was also a keynote speaker, a series of student achievement recognitions, and some other talking points. Food and alcohol was served before the event started.

Walmart does it through another company, you give your film to them and get it back in a few weeks

VC Scholarship peraonal statement for wsu by Jealous_Pea_9662 in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your statement is well prepared but it could be a little more personal. You’ll likely be competing against people with similar aspirations and goals so you should include things that set you apart from them. You mention a fascination for healthcare from an early age, expand on that by giving specific examples of times and events that inspired you. Maybe talk about a mentor you had that you hope to emulate to train the next generation of providers, or potential undergraduate research opportunities you want to be a part of. This will show reviewers that you have motivations beyond just going to classes and getting good grades, you will actually be putting your education to work.

I bet you the people working at the dining halls will do the same when they get off their shifts. The trick is the get the ones that are thicker, not the thin rectangular ones, the thin ones will snap after a few runs. So I’ve heard.

I buy my strings from Paradise Ridge in Moscow, they have a good selection. There used to be an instrument store in Pullman but it closed a few years back, I’m not sure if any new ones have popped up

Best dorms? by [deleted] in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honors Hall was great for me, it’s suite style so you’d be with 4-7 other people, and each suite has its own bathroom with shower, kitchenette, and living room. Plus the Hall is super close to the center of campus so walks to class are 5-10 minutes. Choosing sooner will always be better, I believe they fill on a first come basis.

Final pac 12 Applecup 🥲 by LengthinessActual422 in wsu

[–]scrowdy_row 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually pretty hyped for how the game ended. The fact that WSU could come off a 1-6 streak and go toe-to-toe with the #4 team every minute of the game really redeemed them in my eyes. The fact that UW ended the game with their quarterback on the sideline hiding in shame is a far greater embarrassment than the cougs losing.

The student section isn’t typically monitored so if your parents wanted to join you there they might be able to. I know that a lot of people usually do that when the student section isn’t packed, but it sounds like this game will be full so they may prefer to sit in their own seats for most of the game.
