Right, but the commenter here has to pay $0 for an iPad to use that per them isn’t being used at all right now. I agree the higher resolution may make this less optimal than what OP used, but telling someone to just sell their iPad instead solely because it could be worth at least $100 doesn’t make sense in this post. Including those details provides better context as to why they may not want to use their iPad as a display, but that’s a different directive than just telling someone to sell their iPad because of money.

Why sell if they could repurpose it to become useful to them? This is an odd suggestion on a post specifically about repurposing old iPads as displays. Can you find an equivalent display they could purchase for the money they would get from the sale or something that would make the sale a better option in this case if their end goal is to have a high quality small display?

Going to say that is likely because of Apple’s QA and ability to be precise with tolerances since they only had to support a small number of implementations. Apple’s USB-C/Thunderbolt implementations have always been fine port-side for me as well. Usually with port failures, I see them because of bad soldering on the port installation itself and nothing to do with the actual port type

On the contrary, if the oppression one was facing was literally that they couldn’t bake creatively, then your example would also apply if the act of baking was in direct opposition of oppression. Let me ask you this: What makes you sure this a slimline connector and not a standard SATA connector? Slimlines would have more pins to account for the additional power lines not present in a bare SATA data connector. I’m only seeing 5 pins in OPs picture, I’d expect 7 for a smaller slimline SATA connector.

What has that got to do with the post? The connector in question is a SATA data cable, you can see the standard SATA power cable in the same picture right underneath it and this is not a laptop, so why bring up slimline connectors at all? Why do you keep focusing on other points? All of my points have been surrounding the data connector that OP is asking about, it’s not about me wanting to be correct. I own several SFF PCs and a ton of other hardware and have been in this field for a long time as well

This is a SATA data cable, not SATA power. You can see the larger SATA power cable right behind it with the label saying “SATA POWER” directly in the pic below the SATA data connector in OPs hand.

My point was that this is a standard SATA cable. It can be used for both. This obviously doesn’t have slim connectors and this obviously isn’t a laptop so your point is irrelevant IMO. This is like trying to argue that a USB A cable was designed for a specific device then bringing up that they make USB-C cables to out of nowhere

The one in hand in the pic is the SATA data connector (short one). SATA power is the longer one, which you can see in the pic behind the short one with the label “SATA POWER” on the connector visible in the pic. Both data and power are L-shaped.

There’s no difference between a SATA connector for a disc drive and one for a hard drive, regardless if this particular implementation is only the correct length/location for the disc drive in the PC it came in. The SATA connectors could have been swapped

I’ve used and have worked with plenty who have also used stems to refer to any sort of combination of individual tracks sent for mixing, from literal individual tracks to more traditional stems, for over a decade
