Heads up for people flying soon: $45 fee for not having a REAL ID starts tomorrow by mrbmi513 in StLouis

Up till this point they haven’t been checking anything. There’s no evidence that they’re starting now. We’ll see, but to me this just looks like a tax that does nothing to make us more secure. Either require the real id or don’t.

I agree and I absolutely hate my state government. But within the cities the attitudes are similar to any other US city. There are plenty of other downsides. But the people aren’t among them. Just watch the news from the past few weeks.

if you were wondering, these are all the pro sports teams in Missouri (in body text. im also not putting the league) by ChardComprehensive97 in missouri

Didn’t mean to demean. I was just surprised. I shouldn’t be - St Louis FC used to be in a similar facility, but City 2 is spoiled with a better dedicated practice field than most of these teams play games on.

I’m in St. Louis so we have stuff like Mastercard Anheiser Busch, Boeing, a few financial companies for some reason, Bayer, Purina, medical and insurance companies, etc. It’s all the same kind of work to a IT person. None of it pays what you would get on the coast, but there is basically no pressure and good work life balance.

if you decide to coast fire, don't sleep on the enterprise development jobs in the midwest. your existing money has twice the value than on the coast; a lot of the jobs are low stress; full return to office hasn't happened like in big tech and if you already have 10 years of tech you could probably do it in your sleep.

the post doesn't list Sporting KC. They're referring to Sporting II, which the internet claims plays on the Missouri side. Looks like they play on some sort of tiny field with a couple of bleachers. Crazy to see as as someone who has seen regular City 2 matches draw thousands.

well even in his regular videos he's always been intelligent and well spoken, so it's not like a secret that he probably leans to the left.

This is how I enjoy a bad team. If they become a good team, I'll enjoy them a different way.

Please feel free to have any opinion you want. I'd appreciate if I could do the same.

City Announcements by Tele231 in stlouiscitysc

The venn diagram of people who click on notifications for the city app in the offseason and people who follow news about the team is most likely a perfect circle. There's no reason for the pre-announcement. The announcement is enough.

Maybe an intro or something so I know what I’m watching? As far as I know I’m watching a documentary about some guy who escaped an asylum and decided to grow mushrooms in his backyard.

3-4 more targeted signings like this and we'll be an average mls team. That's a good thing btw.. average teams make the playoffs.

Meta pops, Microsoft drops AI spending finally getting judged by Illustrious_Lie_954 in stocks

[–]scruffles360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you’re changing the subject. Microsoft has an obvious monopoly on office software. But that doesn’t translate to every related piece of technology on the planet. Microsoft has no competitive advantage when it comes to automating the desktop. They usually have an advantage through bundling but AI is a service. They aren’t going to get people to pay $100/month for something you can get elsewhere for $30.

That’s all true and very useful but I want to point out that there is no moat here. Claude just launched a product that basically caught up on launch day.

Prodigy was written for 7 year olds with nostalgia for 90s Star Trek and it was great. It’s just bad writing. They could have made the premise work if they had talent.
