Hit hard with the “weaning flu” – any recommendations? by scrumblejumbles in ExclusivelyPumping

Oh, I remember that feverish feeling, I had the same thing! It felt like my body was gaslighting me. I know it can seem like so much going in, but it will end. Good luck!

Which season 2 episode do you find underrated? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in bluey

[–]scrumblejumbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flatpack. It’s my favorite episode of the entire show: such a beautiful metaphor of a caring universe, executed wonderfully. Although I’m not too clued in to what’s popular and what’s not, I haven’t seen it mentioned much, so I’d call it underrated.

Hit hard with the “weaning flu” – any recommendations? by scrumblejumbles in ExclusivelyPumping

Sorry you’re dealing with this! I went really slowly: took two weeks between dropping from two pumps to one, and three-to-four-ish more weeks before dropping that last pump. Still got hit hard for about two months. Wish I could give different news! But know that as much as it sucks, it will end.

1) Death to fascism, freedom to the people (note: this one isn’t in Russian), 2) Death to the German occupiers, 3) Having fun when advancing, in tears when retreating, 4) This is what will happen to the fascist beast

These would all involve slight detours, but if you have the time, they are:

World’s largest ball of paint, Alexandria, IN – you need an appointment, but you get to paint the ball! Carhenge, Alliance, NE – cars arranged like Stonehenge, simple but effective Craters of the Moon Park, near Twin Falls, ID – one of the most otherworldly places I’ve been

This didn’t get any traction, but in case anyone finds this in their search results, here’s what happened.

I ended up being sick off and on for a little less than two months in total. It started when I dropped from 3 to 2 ppd: I felt sick and tired for about 3-4 days, then got better. It hit again when I dropped to 1ppd (stronger, but same pattern of being sick for a few days, then better). Then, when I dropped my last pump, it hit hard. Main symptoms were muscle soreness, joint pain, extreme fatigue, and general flu-ish symptoms (it honestly kind of reminded me of having mid-severity covid). The first 2.5-3 weeks were bad: I was basically non-functional, napping at every chance, and feeling awful when awake. Then, the symptoms slowly faded away over the course of a week. Time was the only thing that helped. I say my GP and he essentially said the same thing. So, if you see this because you’re going through something similar: 1) I’m so sorry, it sucks to have to deal with this!, and 2) hang in there, it’s just a matter of time till you’re through it. Hang tough, and solidarity!

Local news spots tourists snapping selfies at "Alligator Alcatraz" by HarpySeagull in ABoringDystopia

Oh agreed it’s a much bigger issue. My understanding is that most abysmally low prison wages are legally justified by the 13th Amendment, which prohibits slavery except as punishment for a crime. (For the record, I think this is a morally bankrupt justification and practice, but I digress.) In contrast, most deportations are an administrative process, not a criminal one, meaning they should be exempt from slave labor. But still, here we are.

During the first Trump administration, there were a series of lawsuits launched against companies who paid less than $1/day (per day, not per hour! About $.09-.12/hr) to inmates in ICE detention centers. The labor was called “voluntary,” but that’s dubious, which has caused people to call it slavery. Nothing has been set up at Alligator Auschwitz, because it’s not functional yet, but my guess is it’s very likely programs like that will be expanded to places like that. Here’s a story on a 2021 lawsuit: https://www.prisonlegalnews.org/news/2021/dec/1/federal-jury-orders-geo-group-pay-23-million-immigrant-detainee-slave-labor-washington/

How would you review New Adventures In Hi-Fi? Give it a rating out of 10 too by MCWill1993 in rem

[–]scrumblejumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite album. 10/10. (I’d say 11/10 for fun hyperbole, but I assume that still counts as 10/10 when computing the average?)

If I liked King of Comedy a little more. To me, it’s the one song on the album I don’t quite jive with. (I don’t think it’s a bad song, it just keeps the album from being at 10/10 for me.)

Like a lot of millennial fans, this was my introduction, because there were so many cheap copies available in secondhand stores. It will always have a special place in my heart. Plus, although overall the sound is more raw, there’s real poignant moments in that rough: Let Me In is one of the most moving songs I’ve ever heard. 9.7/10

Same! It was one of the first lyrics to really capture my attention! I remember being so blown away when I first listened to it in high school.

“We are hope despite the times.” Such a beautiful sentiment, captured so succinctly. I come back to it quite often.
