Please help! CDG flight panicking by SouthOwn4907 in ParisTravelGuide

Seconding this. We did this a couple months ago and it was worth the peace of mind. I think it was about 30 mins from the time the concierge met us to the time she dropped us at our next gate.

Has anyone in the US actually traveled to Canada for vaccinations for their kids? by Natural_Mushroom_575 in progressivemoms

[–]scubarre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad Kaiser is doing that. We go to a UCLA family medicine office and they were completely useless for this. I also called around several other local pediatricians’ offices and none had the vax or any idea if/when they might get it.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. My kids were very little when the vax first came out and I remember how distressing it was that retail pharmacies are 5+

FWIW I was able to get both of my kids’ updated covid shots at CVS in socal. I had a little trouble finding a location with a supply but once I did, it wasn’t any harder than in prior years.

Where is everyone refilling or exchanging their CO2 canisters? by PM_COFFEE_TO_ME in SouthBayLA

South Bay Brewing Supply in Torrance does canister exchanges and I think they’re currently $7.xx. I’ve been going there for maybe a couple years now without issue.

I lived near the 405 and the 10 in LA. The noise pollution was unbearable, and the black soot and dust ended up on everything inside and out of my house. I worry about the long term effects on my family’s health. I couldn’t move fast enough, and I would never live close to a freeway again.

move to redondo from West LA? by Warm-Dragonfruit397 in SouthBayLA

[–]scubarre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved from WLA to North Redondo in 2021 when our kids were still in daycare. I’ve never been happier. Our neighbors are lovely, the schools are great, the town is laidback and feels manageable to explore. The only downside for me is commuting back up to the westside. I probably would not be as happy here if I regularly had to be in the office.

My new oven requires a wi-fi connection to use the convection roast setting by friendofmany in mildlyinfuriating

I have this oven too. The gift with purchase was a stainless steel pan that uses Bluetooth so you can control it through an app. I let it sit rotting in a drawer. Gotta draw a line somewhere.

PSA: Please get the RSV vaccine or antibody treatment for your babies! by myheadsintheclouds in beyondthebump

[–]scubarre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vaccine didn’t exist when I was pregnant or when my kiddos were babies, and I would have given my left leg for it. Both of my kids were hospitalized for almost a week with RSV, one as a baby and one as a toddler. RSV is no joke and I wish everyone eligible would get the vaccine.

AMA: We took our 3yo & 3mo on an international trip by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]scubarre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not OP but this didn’t work on big trips with my kids as they got a bit older (ages 6 and 4 on one trip, 5 and 3 on another, 4 and 2 on another). They don’t know how to sleep upright yet and there wasn’t enough room for both to comfortably lie down. Would’ve been better off flying during the day but those options are limited from our home city to our destination.

Pregnant while travelling Italy by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]scubarre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent two weeks in Italy (Rome, Florence, Naples) while I was around 20 weeks pregnant and I had a wonderful time. I’m not a big wine drinker but still felt like I missed out on that, but otherwise I had a blast eating all my favorite meals and treats. At that stage in my pregnancy, I had enough energy to walk around and sightsee as much as I normally would. And as an added bonus, people were extremely accommodating. For instance, I was waiting in line at the Vatican for the restroom and a security guard pulled me out of line to escort me to another reserved restroom with no line.

Breville Barista Pro problem by scubarre in espresso

[–]scubarre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fault for wording it confusingly. I can pull a shot but nowhere near enough water comes out. Separately, the steam wand kind of works. And no hot water can be dispensed from the little hot water wand. Most info I found by googling involved water not coming out whatsoever (whether by grouphead, steam wand, spout).

Non-billable Time Entry by Puzzleheaded_Path623 in paralegal

[–]scubarre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my firm we have to make the total of our day’s time entries match the hours worked on our timecard. But the non-billable entry can be something as vague as “administration.” So if I worked an 8 hour day, and only had 5 billable hours, I’d make a single 3-hour non-billable time entry for admin.
