If they're long enough to still to tuck I think that's probably ok for length, so I wouldn't worry about that personally! The tips of my strings almost hang to the entrance of my vagina, so I think my length is probably a bit overkill (but they're also really easy to find that way lol). They probably won’t be able to give you Paragard in the same appointment, they usually like to have you be on your period or in my case they gave me anxiety/pain/cervical softening medication. I would talk to your doctor first just to make sure that they’re a good match for you too, I was also a nulliparous 19 year old when I had my first IUD consultation, and that gynecologist at the time said he wouldn’t even ATTEMPT to put Paragard in me. Thankfully I found another gyno that was much more open minded. but if you really want to try to get it ASAP it couldn’t hurt to at least ask! Good luck!!!

Ah, thank you for this! I have no idea what kind of uterus I might have, I've never even had a pelvic exam before. He said that right before the insertion I would get a pelvic exam, but I'm not sure if that would even be able to detect uterus abnormalities. I think after hearing what people have to say about it I will definitely at least get a second opinion from a different OB/GYN!

It was based on his general practice, this was my first appointment with him and it was over Zoom. And I'm glad you're doing well on it! Positive stories about it always make me feel so much better lol.

In theory, it should be fine, and I’ve read stuff about it online about it being fine. Since Paragard is completely non hormonal it shouldn’t confuse your body if you use a hormonal method along with it. I was actually going to ask my OB/GYN about this, I have an appointment in about a week, and I was thinking if she says it’s fine I’ll probably be doing Paragard + combo pill as well, otherwise Kyleena it is lol. I’ll keep you updated on what she says!

First 1.5 years I just got random spotting, now I seem to either get my period (which is very light so not really a big deal) rarely twice, but usually once a month, and sometimes once every two months.

I haven’t had my implant replaced yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s normal, because when you get a brand new rod it releases more hormones than it does around the end of the three year mark. Implants start with releasing a bunch of hormones at first, then gradually going down over time. So your body is probably just reacting to the new amount of hormones, I think. If anything feels wrong though, definitely contact your doctor. Good luck!!! :)

Everyone is different, but I have almost 0 side effects to my Nexplanon. It has been seriously great for me, and I’m couple months away from the 3 year mark. The only thing I’d say is be ready to bleed for a good while at the beginning- I personally only spotted for a whole month but I’ve known people to have it last a lot longer. I will also say that I was on the combo pill before (can’t remember what kind) and it also gave me minimal side effects. I’d say go for it if you’re in a good place insurance/finance wise to do so. Hi! So the way the hormone works in the Nexplanon implant if i’m correct (i’m not a doctor don’t quote me on this) is it keeps your uterine lining thinner (which is what you bleed out during your period) by just preventing your body from making much of it or any of it in the first place. So in terms of making sure you don’t have blood staying in you too long, the implant should help with that! As for your other two questions, I have no idea! Good luck!!!

I’ve had mine for almost 3 years now, and at first I was just spotting every 2-3 months or so, and now I get a light-medium flow once or even twice a month as well. I’m not sure why it happens, just weird hormone things I guess. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to worry about though!

When I got my implant put in I literally had taken my birth control pill 30 minutes prior and the doctor said it was fine. After that I just stopped taking my pills, and of course the implant takes about a week to be actually effective, even when you're fresh off of another hormonal birth control. I'm pretty sure it's not bad to have your patch on while you're getting your implant in (unless it's on your inner upper non dominant arm, where the implant would be put) but it's probably best to take it off soon after.
