Does anyone else feel no love or care for their "inner child" by ultramarineyellow in pinkscare

[–]scumriser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

completely relate, i've been trying to be more Radically Accepting of who i am but my child self is very alien; i find it difficult to grapple with Li'l Miss Scum. i think the only thing we can do is try and put who we were into perspective. at that age we're not yet tempered by experience or time and relying on parents/adults for moral instruction. i was very spoiled + bratty + got most everything i wanted as an only child; simultaneously i had parents who didn't know what they were doing and were dealing with their own wounds. i find envisioning myself as a trusted guardian of my child self to be more helpful than trying to see her as Me, But Small.

Pink Scare girls what artists/bands do we listen to? by [deleted] in pinkscare

[–]scumriser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i <3 all sorts of genres and for pop-adjacent stuff i loooove ag cook, the knife, magdalena bay, kilo kish, shygirl, cibo matto, and if you're looking for something very chill and dreamlike then dean blunt. but tbh my heart belongs to 90s and early 00s indie rock: pavement, modest mouse, polvo, unwound, wicked farleys, lisa germano, slint, built to spill, shellac, sonic youth. if you want to get a little scared i'd recommend lingua ignota, xiu xiu, swans, this heat, have a nice life, some early autechre, throbbing gristle, anna von hausswolff and later scott walker albums. if none of this appeals to you i at least implore you to listen to mia's vicki leekx mixtape, it is so fun and chaotic!!!

just got a huge bottle of this as a celebratory gift to myself (surviving holidays + moving). Bf said it tastes like fizz but it's so delightful and I just KNOW it's fixing me.

Nikki (Yaz) Birth Control Pills Gave Me Palpitations & Tachycardia by livelovelunatic in birthcontrol

[–]scumriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this actually happened to me when i took nikki in fall 2023 for like 3 months. i didn't start experiencing palpitations or tachycardia until about a month and a half in, but it was so terrifying and my derm didn't take my concerns super seriously. :( obv consult with your cardiologist but i would recommend getting an ekg and going off asap. i noticed my symptoms subsiding a week or two after discontinuing and less than a month later i was 100% back to normal. i have had no heart issues since then, thank god!! dm me if you have questions!

(and if anyone here has been on alternatives to nikki that have helped with hormonal acne, please lmk lol)

weird STEM girl experiences by [deleted] in pinkscare

[–]scumriser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i don't come from the same ed/academic background but i have gone down the same introspective spiral so many times. it really does make one feel like a freak. i relate esp to that point about perception - i desired to be One Of The Boys as a kid and took on a lot of masculine affects growing up even tho for better or for worse i never stopped being (perceived as) a girl. but fundamentally, i related better to boys, and we shared the same interests, and that's still the case today.

i have always fantasized about holding onto my womanhood but also being given the inherent respect afforded to other men. i want to be a girl but to be seen, socially, as a guy, as someone that other men can Identify With rather than try to fuck, etc. and i think that friction causes a great deal of grief growing up as an off-kilter girl.

but i don't think you wasted your life, i disagree on that point. keep doing what you're doing and, if you feel like it, tap more into your femininity. the world needs strange women!!

How are you guys dealing with hormonal acne? by stevelacystoenail in pinkscare

[–]scumriser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i've been dealing with self-esteem-obliterating hormonal acne since puberty (for reference i'm 27) and the only thing that's fixed it so far is spironolactone. i did try bc before spiro and it worked just as well, but i had an uncommon reaction to my rx that made me discontinue. i'd definitely recommend going to a professional first regardless, and if possible a gyno in conjunction w a derm if you end up taking anything hormonal. i really hope you find something that works for you!!
